The dark-furred warrior’s ears perked at the sound of Cobwebfern’s voice, catching the excited tremor in her tone. From where she lay, half-sprawled in the dwindling sunlight, she could see the medic apprentice stepping forward with an eagerness that radiated across camp. As Cobwebfern began her announcement, a grin tugged at the corners of Weepingwind’s mouth. It had been moons since anything had really stirred the camp like this—especially a game. She rose to her paws, stretching luxuriously as she watched other cats slowly begin to gather. Cobwebfern’s idea was simple but clever: a scavenger hunt to stock up on the supplies RiverClan desperately needed before leaf-bare hit them full force. The mere thought of racing across the territory, tracking down both herbs and prey, stirred a restless energy in Weepingwind’s limbs. And the idea of a team game, with everyone’s competitive streaks and pride being bound to be shown on full display, sent a random thrill of delight through her. The way Cobwebfern had described the prize—just a handful of pretty rocks and feathers, yet with the undeniable weight of bragging rights—sparked something mischievous in her. Weepingwind was no stranger to pride or competition.
As she padded closer, she found herself chuckling under her breath at the other healer’s humor. Cobwebfern’s rough sketches and vague directions would certainly add an extra layer of challenge; even seasoned warriors would be tripping over themselves trying to decipher what they were supposed to collect. The idea of deciphering a haphazard drawing, like trying to guess if a blob was meant to be a dandelion or a rabbit’s tail, sounded like the kind of light-hearted chaos the clan could use. Weepingwind settled near the front, angling herself to get a good view as she listened closely. The mention of the challenge got her blood quickly started pumping—oh, she loved a good challenge. Her claws flexed against the ground, the anticipation lighting a spark in her deep green eyes. She’d be part of the first team to hit five in a row; of that, she was sure. The idea of racing against her clan-mates, of cutting through the territory in search of herbs and prey with the sharpness and speed she was undoubtedly known for, made her chest swell with a mix of pride and thrill. As Cobwebfern waited for more cats to arrive, Weepingwind met her gaze with a flick of her tail, a small smirk playing on her lips. She wasn’t going to let a bunch of young apprentices and warriors beat her to this victory. Not a chance.
Glancing over her shoulder, Weepingwind noticed Seabreeze nearby, already sitting down, looking somewhat intrigued by Cobwebfern's challenge. With a smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth, she padded over to him, curiosity sparking in her deep green eyes. “Didn’t think I’d see you here.” She murmured as she settled beside him, glancing at him with a playful flick of her tail. She studied his expression, watching for any hint of excitement or apprehension, and couldn’t resist adding, “Guess a game like this brings out everyone’s competitive side, huh?” Her gaze flickered back toward Cobwebfern as the medic had finished her instructions, the thrill of the upcoming challenge lighting a fire in the tabby’s chest. Being part of a competition that combined skill, speed, and a little friendly rivalry was exactly the kind of excitement she craved. She angled herself forward, itching to spring into action, ready to show the rest of RiverClan that she was in this to win.

The warrior looked to his side, an unfamiliar voice, though one not heard, floating to the air shortly after he murmured his own. Weepingwind, the dark furred feline making her way over to settle at his side with some light hearted remarks. It was... strangely casual, as though they were old friends, or at the very least, not acquaintances like the pair of them are... at least to Seabreeze's knowledge. He doesn't really remember ever speaking or hearing or seeing the other outside of the usual daily routines of a warrior. A patrol here or a morning greeting there. Oh well besides the otters... perhaps there's nothing like fighting for your clan to bring some folks together, "Something like that..." He offers in reply before pausing a moment before continuing.
"I've been helping with some extra patrols.. solo and otherwise but it doesn't seem like enough, I'm just hoping that this can help bring some stuff in. Especially the herbs before the frost takes all of the less hardy ones." He made an effort to ramble a little bit, small talk, "Well before the otters.. I've been taking it easy so that I don't mess up my shoulders anymore than they already are." Stars know how bad he was at it, here he was trying to be more social despite how he rather give short phrases and awkwardly wait around until the actual work was given out as a distraction. He waited... hoping that he wasn't ruining this too badly, but he refused to make eye contact and couldn't help the way his ears pointed back.
The little apprentice showed up instantly as the speech went on.
She hated working in teams. Because she'd been always paired up with her sister as a kit, and now no one remained for her. Her own mentor had also left her, just like the medicine cat who'd said she would take care of them.
But Elderkit died.
She decided to walk silently toward her new mentor, making sure he wouldn't notice her so she wouldn't have to talk.
Something inside her couldn't stop looking for a home.
Weepinwind was talking with another cat, a gray and pale furred tom that she thought was very popular in Riverclan. She sat with her tail curled around her paws, silently listening to the conversation between them.
Poor Seabreeze seemed... exhausted, from his voice. She found herself pitying him, but she wasn't sure why.

it was.. a bit of a low turnout. she'd admittedly imagined more cats coming, but it was okay! she'd figure this out. cobwebfern shuffled her paws and surveyed the cats gathered. ' righty-o. three teams. team a- seabreeze, softpaw, soaringpaw, beaverpaw, and stagheart! please go sit by the first game spot. ' she gestured with her tail, smiling softly.
then.. team b. the medic-in-training flicked her tail and continued. ' team b! that's daisypaw, weepingwind, aspenpaw, deerpaw, and deerspark. double-deer team. i believe in you all! ' now, for the rest of them- there were only a few folks left, and cobwebfern wasn't too keen on sending berryshine alone with a bunch of apprentices, so she cleared her throat, making a quick descision to go with team c. ' please go sit by the second game spot. '
' berryshine, marigoldpaw, starrypaw, and i will be team c. ' with that finished, cobwebfern smiled before delivering her next instructions. ' once your whole team has assembled at your game spot, i'd like for your to deliberate on a team leader and then send them up to me. thank you! ' she finished her speech and sat down again, waiting for the groups.
