It was over, just like that. It seemed to go well. He wasn't sure, he didn't really see the end of it. Just the aftermath. Would it be owls next? The clan needed to heal up, but on the contrary, they couldn't leave those birds unattended. Luckily for him, his wounds weren't all too bad. That snake bite was beginning to sting more, but it was nothing like his last injury. If he was lucky, he'd be ready in time to seize those nests. Time to get patched up, he supposed. The tom padded into the medicine den, gazing about. Things seemed a little hectic in here, though not as hectic as the battlefield. Not until now, did he notice his snake bite continuing to bleed - quite considerably, actually. He gave the surrounding area a lick, hoping it wouldn't be too much of a mess for the meds to deal with.

After talking with her son and cleaning her fur; Dawnstar got up and headed to the medicine den. It's been a bit since Dawnstar's last visit. She didn't make frequent visits to this den unless she needed something. The last time Lostspark had been in charge of it, and before that Elmshadow. The memory of their last two medicine cats left a dark shadow over her. She dispelled it with a twitch of her tail.

Everything and everyone moved on and though grief left its unseen scars, dwelling on the past would only put her in a worse mindset. Dawnstar has had a struggle with her mental and emotional health for seasons and will continue to struggle with it for seasons to come. Being self-aware of how broken she was had its pros and cons.

The leader sat in an open nest and lowered herself until she was crouching down. She knew her size could make reaching injuries bothersome, and as her ear had puncture holes in, she'd save them the trouble of trying to reach for it. She was hoping that she'd get Rookfire to deal with her wounds. She already knew Mossfreckle was effective he had healed her injuries more than once.

Yes, she has seen Rookfire work, but there was a stark difference between healing her and their clanmates. However, since she's worked with Rookfire as an Enforcer, she guessed he'd be less nervous than Mossfreckle when he first healed her. She had grown somewhat tolerant toward Rookfire with his frequent visits to her den. However, letting him patch her up was different from a visit to her den.

There would always be an inkling of mistrust regarding her clanmates that would never fade no matter how many moons passed. One wrong move, one wrong herb, and she was suddenly fighting an internal battle with an illness she couldn't best with tooth and claw. It didn't matter how unreasonable it sounded, her paranoia would always flare up around cats she didn't irrefutably trust like she had with Lostspark and Elmshadow.

So her muscles stiffened and her molten gold orbs gleamed sharply as the tom moved into her personal space. Her claws unsheathed and her tail fluffed up while swinging in agitation. The open distrust would lessen the more she got used to Rookfire, but for the time being she made it very clear that she did not trust him in the slightest tending to her. Her gaze scrutinizing as ever.

in all honesty, despite not having fought at all during the battle, rookfire was slowly but surely getting tired, the day had been too darn long in his opinion yet any internal complaint was quickly supressed and drowned out. he had wanted this for moons, and finally been chosen to serve shadowclan in ways differently to the average warrior and stars above if he did anything he wouldnt complain about any of the work this brought on for him. even better, he'd been more or less rushing back and forth fulfilling duties that werent strictly his and should be grateful to finally get to do something. with what he would call doubts drowned out rookfire glanced at mistlewhisker as she entered the den, stepping around discarded moss he hadnt had the chance to clean up just yet and cats he had kept behind for a few more moment of rest before he sent them off.
besides the deep bite gushing a good amount of blood down her hind leg and onto the hardpacked soil, most of the deputies injuries appeared to be minor but a bit harder to identify which made the medic reach for both horsetail and burdock root once more. horsetail for those he assumed to be rat bites like the one on her hind leg, burdock root for the smaller ones that looked to have more or less stopped to bleed by now. he half-heartedly pushed the moss to the side before trotting over to the herb storage to fetch what he would need. at this point it would probably be better to simply leave the herbs out at the centre of the den instead of having to pace back and forth but part of him thought keeping them clean was worth walking back and forth for what felt like a eternity.
"well enough ma'am, have not had any issues besides pondpaw yet" the former enforcer tipped his head in silent thanks for the compliment as he submerged a bit off moss in the stream cutting through the medicine den and pressing his forepaws together around the plant in order to remove most of the excess water. as he had done what felt like countless times before, the medic move to hold the moss against the snake bite with a bit of pressure, letting it soak up the blood and remove dust and grime whilst he chewed up a bite of horsetail.
rookfire went through the motions with practiced ease, waiting for the bleeding to cease slightly before applying the horsetail paste and wrapping up the wound with cobwebs before moving on to the smaller injuries and repeating the process, applying the rest of the horsetail before turning another small bite of burdock root into a paste before wrapping everything up.
"please come back if ye start feeling sick or anything gets dirty" he repeated a version of what he had told pretty much every cat and thereby concluded his healing.

Mistlewhisker was pleased to hear that Rookfire was doing well in his new position. He seemed to know what he was doing, so she had no qualms with him. The herbs stung, but the Deputy didn't react as Rookfire pasted cobwebs bitter with herbs on her bite. After a moment, the pain subsided and Mistlewhisker was left with a slightly numbed wound. Clean wounds always felt better than dirty ones, after all. The Deputy dipped her head as she was dismissed, limping slightly at first before striding out of the den.

[Not pinging you but thank you Alec : D]

Well, at least Mossfreckle wasn't being too annoying whilst the medicine cat patched him up. Shrewstep stood still whilst the younger cat saw to his wounds, wincing slightly as the marigold juice dripped into his cuts. It seemed to be setting a small fire in his blood stream, causing pain but burning out any nasty bits of dirt and whatnot that could cause infection in equal measure. It was an additional punishment for his failings, and he didn't particularly want to look at Foggymask as the other tom had his own wounds seen to. Ratface. He'd have to speak to Clovepool, she'd be angry he was sure. Thrilling. He couldn't wait to get yelled at the length of Shadowclan camp by his (somewhat terrifying) lover.

Partially in shame at his own injuries, Shrewstep mewed I'm alright, thank you. No poppy seed for me, I'm alright. It wasn't as chipper as he'd like to be, defeated as he was, but it was given a moderately humorous tone. Forced, perhaps, but there nonetheless. Uh, thank you. I'll be out of your fur now. he finished, turning to head out of the medicine cat den. He retained a bit of a limp, hind leg not too keen on having his weight flopped on it, but he was perfectly able to walk without falling over or yowling in pain and whatnot, so he would be off.
