[ @Rowan - I imagine this takes place in the warrior den, just because I feel like everything's in the clearing rn XD]

Dogchase sat in the now mostly empty den. Light was filtering steadily through the leafy ceiling, creating lazy patterns on the floor. The brown warrior sat upright, but it was getting more and more difficult to do so as time wore on. His pounding head and aching sides were begging him to lay down and rest, but he had been doing that all day. He let his claws tear up the dirt a bit. Why am I just sitting here! There's so much to do! Grinding his teeth, he forced himself to stop, and be still. He needed rest. He knew that. He knew that. It was just...hard to accept. Hard to accept that he was back here again. Worthless. His old mentor's voice echoed in his head. Not that it mattered. He was nice and used to it by now.
Green eyes turned upwards as he looked out at the sky, or what he could see with the small breaks in the covering. It was beautiful. Seemed like a good day to hunt. Or do literally anything. Stifling a growl, he made himself close his eyes, and feel the slight breeze that was running in from the den entrance. He filled his lungs with a deep breath. There wasn't much he could do about it now. Claws slid in and out of his paws. He was forced to just accept it. Should've been more careful with he star forsaken owl. The image of the beast swooping down on him replayed in his mind as it had one thousand times before. Curse that awful thing. If only he had reacted a little faster...
The she had been tired. Kits…being social…StormPaw. She padded I got he warriors den, starting to settle down for a moment before her gaze glanced over a familiar pelt. DogChase…DogChase! Her neutral expression suddenly flashed to a grin as she padded up to him, oblivious to any current issues or struggles. “Heya! How’re you?” she purred curiously to the cat she considered a good friend.

His ears perked up as he heard his name. Surprise flashed across his face. When had Orangeflower come in? How had he missed her? Her enthusiasm was a nice change of pace. All the cats in here were so droll, including himself. It was nice to be interrupted. Something like a half smile appeared on his maw, and he sat up so he could talk to her more comfortably. "I'm doing as good as I can, I suppose." His stumpy tail flicked as much as it could. "Got beat up by an owl, but what can you do?" He shrugged, his attempt at a little humor but in his serious gravely voice he wasn't quite sure how it'd come across.
It occurred to him that he hadn't seen much of Orangeflower since they're climbing excursion, and even those memories were a little fuzzy. "I heard you have an apprentice now. What's that been like? Has the little bugger been causing you any trouble?" There wasn't a lot about being a mentor that appealed to him. He didn't hate kits, but he also wasn't necessarily gifted with them either. He didn't think being a in charge of an extra whiny emotional kit would suit him. Orangeflower on the other paw seemed sweet. She could probably teach a youngster a valuable lesson or two.
