"I'm fine, don't worry about me." Oh Starclan, he was already messing up as a mentor, wasn't he? Firepaw looked like she was about to break down, and he had no idea what to do. Good mentors were supposed to know what to do when their apprentices were about to break down, weren't they?

"Don't...don't apologize. You did well." Except for the fact that he would prefer it if she went less bloody next time, but he had a feeling if he told her this, she might actually get a panic attack.

He coughs lamely, "End the lesson for today?" He phrases it more like a question than a statement. He feels like he's just running away from this problem, and he doesn't like that. But he doesn't know what else to do.

Okay. He was fine. Unless he was lying. Shadeclaw wouldn't lie to her, right? He didn't seem like the kind of cat to do so. But, you never know.

She wants to take his words as a compliment. But she couldn't help but feel there was something behind his words. Or maybe she was just being paranoid. It couldn't be anything, right? She nodded. Thank StarClan!

"Y-yeah." She murmured under her breath. They could resume the training some other time, right?

"Tell...me when you feel ready for the next lesson." Shadeclaw meows shyly, "And do some stretches and massages. Before you sleep. Helps with aches from training." It was a tip that he always wanted to pass on to his own apprentice in the future, and now was the time.

"Ask Wolfpaw if anything hurts." He dips his head goodbye to Firepaw. He'll await the time she returns to him, ready to learn more, in spirit and body.

Some time had passed since their last lesson, and Shadeclaw was getting worried that Firepaw wasn't coming to ask. He had wanted to give her time to heal and hope she'll come and ask when she felt ready, but at this rate, he felt it would be a better idea to start the lesson himself.

Probably. Maybe. He'd never had an apprentice before, so Shadeclaw wasn't sure. He takes a deep breath before he enters the apprentice den,

"Firepaw?" He meows gruffly. His voice sounds half closed, and is deep and quiet. "Another fighting lesson?"
