Mudslide hadn't much to do at the moment except for sitting. Which, in hindsight, was fine. But just sitting around simultaneously seemed to give some cats the notion that she was open to being talked to. She wasn't. Ever. Don't. Even. Try. As much as she hated conversation though, if anycat came to talk with her, Mudslide was far from being rude. Cats who were ticked off for no reason always made her feel trapped all over again. Trapped in a conversation she didn't want to be in as well as being stuck with a cat who talked like she was the one who skimmed all the meat from their prey.
Maybe she should go out for a walk, try and find some nice trinkets for Roachflare to find an excuse to bother and talk to them. She knew a peace offering wasn't required to share his company, but it was somewhat built into her system. Mudslide wasn't sure why Roachflare enjoyed her company, why he stuck around, but in case he left, he got dragged away by the rest of them; at least he'd have something to remember her by. Also, she felt as though she needed to do something to make up for the fact that talking to her was like talking to a tree.
Which was fine. Mudslide wanted to be boring, unnoticeable, and basically average, but she didn't want to be like that with her one friend. She wanted to open up a bit more, but every new and revealing word that bubbled up in her throat got choked out by her own fear of losing him. Like, why try? And she didn't like that, not at all. But maybe it was safer for her.
She was still adjusting to being back at camp, learning names all over again. Ibispaw hadn’t forgotten the foundational stuff, obviously, nor the training she had gotten before disappearing. But she had to admit she was happy to have her belly full again, to be able to help others. She had missed the security of Shadowclan, the ability to be around others. To feel like she had a home.
Which was what had roused her from her best just a few moments ago. Stretching her back and front legs out, Ibispaw pushed into the clearing with a deep breath inhaled into her lungs. It always felt nice to get that breath of fresh air whenever you were out in the open; at least, that was her opinion. The smell of pine needles was oh-so comforting as she sat to groom her fur.
Then she grew bored, restless.
She was shifting from paw to paw, putting more weight on one before repeating the process and putting the weight on another. She needed something to do..something..ah! A victim.
Well, hopefully, it's more of someone to converse with.
Rising, she made her way over to the other cat. Mudslide, she was pretty sure; she was getting better at remembering names, thank Starclan. Ibispaw stopped once she was in front of the other cat, humming to get their attention.
“Mudslide?” She started, hoping that was the correct name, even though she was sure it was. “Hi,” she continued, “I'm Ibispaw, in case you don’t know. Why’re you all on your own?”
She hadn’t considered the other, but she may have preferred that. Perhaps that was an oversight on Ibispaw’s part.
“You doin’ anything today?” She questioned, her head tilted to the side. Maybe she could convince the other to take her out of camp.
rookfire exhaled shakily, willing the pulsating headache and the cramping in his stomach urging him to curl into a ball in an attempt to escape pain to leave his head and stomach without success, he stepped out of the medicine den. he didnt know how long it had taken between leaving camp to get rid of the rats and snakes, coming back and circling through all the cats involved in order to ensure everyone was alright and treated and now, but it had been long enough to finally push rook to the point where he felt like putting down his head would mean immediately falling asleep for once. large white paws, tinted a faint red in placed from the blood of his clanmates, came to a half just outside of the medicine den and he squinted against the slight brightness difference between inside the den and the clearing. after a moment he started making his way over to where he had located sleepysunrise without most of the usual confidence he carried himself with. tail low and overall just curled in on himself a lot more than usual, he looked a bit pitiful to say the least but couldnt, for once, manage to get himself to actually care about appearing confident and strong. he would no doubt regret this choice once he wasnt tired and in pain anymore but for now, the medic just didnt care.
without a single word to the younger enforcer, the slightly lighter pelted former enforcer flopped down on the hard packed soil next to her and finally followed his bodies need to curl in on himself, tail coming to rest in front of his face and sort of hiding him from view in this way. he wouldve stayed in the medicine den but with the cats he had asked to stay being where he had asked them be (great job rook) the clearing felt like the better option for the moment. the air not smelling of coppery blood and herbs, a smell that he usually didnt mind but felt too overwhelming at the moment, was phenomenal and rookfire was out cold before he could say 'rats'.

snakekit slunk out of momma's den, quietly keeping to the shadows of the clearing. contrary to quillpaw, he had had a lot of social interaction recently- more than he would actually care to have. his siblings are capital-a Annoying, and he was already planning his takeover of shadowclan. so not much else going on in his very short, very small life.
snake padded around the edges of the clearing, squinting around to figure out who the next cat he was going to bother would be. his eyes locked onto a target- a rather small apprentice who he recognized as quillpaw. he puffed up his chest and stalks towards the apprentice, eyes gleaming with mischief.

Oh, Stars dammit. Maybe she wasn't as sneaky and mysterious as she thought. And the mention of not being able to become a proper warrior without being healthy... Well, that was one of the things that finally got her to stop pretending everything was okay. The tortoiseshell she-cat inhaled and exhaled slowly, frowning.
"No, no. It's not that," she muttered under her breath. Did Rookfire think she was pretending because she didn't trust him? Of course not! If anything, Hawkpaw respected him. A lot. He and Sleepysunrise had saved her from getting into a deeper arguement with Duskpaw. She owed him. She put on a much more cheery expression. "I jus... Dunno what's wrong, if I'm being honest. HAH!" That was... A half-lie. She shifted her paws, then brought it over to run her tongue over one of them.
"I mean, I... Uh.. Feel not... Fine... I guess... But... I dunno." Her frown returned, though much deeper than previous.
╚══ ≪ °❈° ≫ ══╝
it appeared his threat of hawkpaw being unable to become and remain a warrior if she didnt take care of herself or let others take care of the things she couldnt handle herself had worked. the apprentice exhaled, finally letting the mask of smiles and no worries slip into a frown.
secondly, it didnt appear like she didnt want to get treated because she didnt like him or trust him which was good for one and also meant his mildly manipulative appeared to have worked very well. dont get me wrong, rook wasnt aware it had been manipulative way to phrase the offer, this particular manner or communication was just something he knew would work in getting the younger cat to give in or at the very least talk and made use of. "d'ya have any idea how it mightve happened? any past injuries?" the medic asked, voice neutral and angular head cocked to the side slightly in question. while he wished he had some more information on the apprentices history, he simply hadnt been around for long enough, especially not in a position where he could be worrying about other cats injuries, and besides, he thought it was valuable to let the 'patient' tell their own story. if only he could ensure every cat he met in a medical context was ready to cooperate and tell him what had happened without complaint or trying to avoid the truth. "'s okay, i didnt mean ta' worry ya. if ye try ta' tell me what ya know n cooperate im sure we can figure it out" he assured the apprentice, giving her a nudge with his tail in what he hoped to be a light-hearted, reassuring manner. mind briefly rushing through his own past to select something to tell hawkpaw and take some of the fear he assumed he had caused away. "ya know, i dont think most 'a shadowclan know this but 'm blind in my left eye..n got my shoulder broken but mossfreckle fixed it up n now its all good again. 's crazy how much we can fix without much issue huh?"

This was soooo silly! BOO! She wasn't sure what she was doing sitting out in the clearing for literally no reason. But hey, it's not like her MENTOR could take her out and help her LEARN THINGS. Probably because, oh I dunno, HE'S PROBABLY DEAD!?! (she wasn't entirely sure if he was, but stars above, he was useless, so he might as well be) Stars above! She was so ready to get up and completely blow up the sun! Yeah, you heard her! BLOW. UP. THE. SUN.
She definitely wanted to go somewhere with Spiderthorn or something. She really liked him, and yet, she barely saw them! Heck, she'd even take an interaction with the rat queen herself, at least she kept things interesting. But, until the next meeting, nothing of importance would be happening for her.
Well.... She kinda diiiiiiiddddd miss out on the leaf-bare gathering, but that kinda stuff was somewhat below her anyways. Listen to any clan other than her own? BLEH, BLAH! BORINGGGGG. She didn't give a rats butt what the heck was going on outside of her clan. Unless they were throwing death berries at her, she didn't care to figure it out. So what? She just knew what she wanted, and there was nothing wrong with that.
Though, if anycat here was worth acknowledging, THEY'D ENTERTAIN THIS POOR BOREDDDD ADULT. One whom would've LONG earned her warrior title if Foggymask wasn't a dirt poor mentor. Stars. Above.
rookfire padded into camp, slowing from a trot to a brisk walk as he slipped through the entrance and shook out his dark fur. little water droplets, no doubt collected by walking through the thick fog that still hung heavy over some parts of the territory, slid out of his thick pelt at the motion, leaving his fur weirdly spikey. the medic was unbothered by any of this because in the process of shaking off the water, he had spotted magpiepaw and suddenly remembered the execution he had been ordered to execute a few nights ago. internally cringing, he strode over to the apprentice. he wasnt the biggest fan of her or her behaviour but she would find out eventually anyway and he was sure it would be better he tell her now than pretend nothing happened until her reassignment during the upcoming meeting. a part of him wanted to attempt to convince dawnstar to let him keep three apprentices so he could take up magpiepaw as his apprentice in addition to softpaw and cinderpaw but there were certain lines he didnt feel confident to cross just yet. "magpiepaw, lockdown's treatin' ya well as i see" rookfire began, tone obviously sarcastic and poking at the fact that she had been looking quite huffy. "uhhm i got somethin' ta discuss with ye n its not because ye were actin' out for once" the medic continued, keeping up the humour and nudging magpiepaw further towards the edge of camp for a bit of privacy. he heavily doubted the two toned apprentice really cared for foggymask and would take the following information with grief but he didnt really feel like being disrupted by some other cats. "ight so, yer mentor foggymask right? i assume ye havent seen em in a while n thats cuz hes dead. 'would'a suggested i take ye on as a apprentice if ya need reassignment but i cant take any more apprentices." claws pierced hardpacked soil as rookfire stretched out his legs, shifting where he sat to start grooming down the fur spiked up around his shoulders. some may say he was too casual about delivering the news of someone death but foggymask didnt deserve the honour of sadness or seriousness.
Honestly, the fishys eye had been closed for a few days after the attack. From what she remembered, fish mostly slept the first week and a half. To her it was all a blur as she gathered pieces here and there, but she didnt feel like thinking about it bad enough she had a scar from it. Fishkit flicked the tip of her thin tail slightly before fixing her gaze on rookfires eyes “ Suppose im lucky she meowed with a faint smile
@alec
rookfire nodded, his roleplayer had forgotten what rook had just said last time and was too lazy to go check so he would be a bit more vague for a moment, fishkit had sure been lucky. not losing her eyesight alongside earning the large scar was certainly luck "mmh ive seen far less mess up ones eye" he agreed, hoping this wasnt a repetition of what he had said the last post and supressed a wince as he attempted to stretch the weird pain out of his leg, curse fadingsun and his stupid stupid idea that breaking his shoulder was oh so great. usually, he couldnt care less, but sometimes things just stung and seemed almost stuck within his shoulder, pain shooting down his leg without any way to stop it or at least not one he had figured out yet. besides the pain that was starting to become a distraction to the conversation, it appeared fishkit had no become any better at conversations yet so he didnt really fancy sticking about for a lot longer, instead choosing to get out of this useless exchange of chatter in order to go metaphorically lick his wounds. "dont hesitate ta' come to the medicine den if anythin' stars hurtin'. but i expect youve already heard that a bunch so i'll leave ya to it" rookfire finished, tipping his head briefly before getting back to his paws and padding away to seek out a corner of the clearing or maybe the medicine den and try to catch up on some of the sleep he had lost the prior night and early morning. ultimately, he would probably be found in front of the medicine den, paws tucked beneath his body and eyes half closed to at least keep up the appearance that he was listening and watching everyone and everything in the clearing.

Let's see. Who to approach now... Or rather, who to NOT approach, and instead attack whoever does approach. Yes. Yes. Exactly that. He'd rather not be the one to approach. Unless...
Unless someone like this particular dark-furred cat was spotted across the clearing. Upon further inspection, one of the cat's eyes were cloudy. Like his own. Wow. Another freak in the Clan. Spiritkit slowly walked over, head lowered and tail gently brushing the ground. And once he was close enough to see how his fur faded from a dark, almost black, blue-grey to a paler shade, he launched himself at the medic with a snarl, tiny yet sharp claws extended. Of course, they would barely do anything to large cats like Rookfire, but Spiritkit refused to admit it.
rookfires tail was tapping the ground repeatedly where it rested close to his body, paws tucked beneath him sort of like a brooding chicken or, to stop using weird metaphors, like every other cat sporting a lovely loaf. he had nothing to do, nothing he wanted to do at least, so he had resorted to laying around, trying to keep his paws hidden from the cool air out in the clearing, and pass his time people- erm.. cat watching under the excuse to making sure everything went its orderly way.
to be completely honest, he had not been paying the most amount of attention to his surroundings, thoughts wandering while he felt safe enough to engage in such a activity until tiny claws sunk (or tried to anyway) into the flesh of his tail. the medicine cat apprentice flinched, yanking his tail away from the kit and (regrettably) was on all four paws before he could blind or properly realise what was happening. now standing, he towered over the kit that had disrupted his useless pondering and shivered slightly as a cold gust of wind whipped around his previously warm legs. "big hunter huh? jump on someone who wants ta' play next time yeah?" he addressed the kit, voice neutral and almost dragging with how little he wanted to care about this.
rookfire wouldnt say he knew everything going on in shadowclan, but who did, he was sure he knew enough to do his role well and more which should be enough for the moment. however, he had the little advantage of actively choosing to rest in camp, half listening to the cats around him and well, also being a highrank ought to help in getting information on what was going on in camp. especially since he had taken a friendly liking to sleepysunrise it felt like he was getting more opportunities to share and compare observations which he very much welcomed. whereas he had felt sort of alone and uninvolved in riverclan, going from apprentice to enforcer to medicine cat within shadowclan had been nothing but pleasant and the source of a feeling of belonging. sure, fear persisted, but it was getting better.
back on topic, he had gotten wind of a recent demotion on reason of the current lockdown and decided to do his part upon spotting the current apprentice in the clearing.
"redpaw, i heard you feel the need ta' help the clan even if that means goin' against rules?" rookfire addressed the demoted warrior whilst approaching from behind, voice raised slightly and harsh in silent hope that he would at least get her to flinch. the medicine cat came to a halt by her, cool grey eyes briefly seeking out her gaze before he nodded upwards jerkily. "if ye want ta' help the clan so badly ya can come fetch some moss n cobwebs with me" one whisker brow raised, he stared at her for a moment longer before turning to walk towards the camp exit without another glance back. if she followed good, if not, he wouldnt be too bothered either.
