Cinderpaw

10 moons || she/her || ShadowClan Apprentice small black tabby with minimal white markings and 3 legs; amber eyes
How does one articulate what's wrong when nothing should be wrong? Cinderpaw has no clue how she's supposed to explain that she feels like her leg is still attached and it's being crushed again.
Without words, because even just saying her mentor's name made her throat hurt, Cinderpaw glances to her stump and again to Rookfire, amber eyes clouded in confusion of her own.
"Don't know," she signs, shaking her head, "leg hurts... not there but it hurts."
visible confusion passed over his face before the medicine cat caught himself, breaking out of the odd sort and stillness he had been stuck in once the apprentice communicated what was wrong. rookfire had absolutely no clue what in stars name he was supposed to do but cinderpaws obvious discomfort and desperation spurred him on, mind reeling in search for a solution. the immediate and most obvious solution were poppy seeds but the medicine cat apprentice had no experience and currently no guidance on matters like internal pains, especially those located in or around limbs no longer attached to the body. the second and less .. potentially bad solution he came up with was cooling what remained of her leg like he vaguely knew to help with joint pain. both was internal and perhaps this would give cinderpaw some relief while he thought of something else.
"we'll figure something out, dont worry" he attempted to comfort the apprentice, voice honest (or as much as it could be whilst he tried to keep it from portraiting any of the fear or concern swirling within), already moving over to the herb storage to pick up some poppy seeds and moss to quickly saturate it with cool water before offering it to the apprentice. rookfire took a careful look at the healed wound in case there was something outwardly to see, any infection or just. anything. but came up blank, hesitating briefly before gently applying some pressure to the moss and thereby remains of cinderpaws limb in hopes of confirming for the apprentice that there was no leg to hurt. "tell me if this doesnt help, we can try ta' see if poppy seeds do if you'd like that" two small seeds rolled from his paw onto the hardpacked soil in front of his apprentices face, a offer, far different to the orders he usually felt like he was giving during treatment. eat this and do that.. this was new to him and perhaps her as well and he didnt want to force her into anything potentially useless or even harmful without consent. well. poppy seeds couldnt really harm one if consumed in a normal dosis but still.
[ completely up to you if cooling/poppy seeds help for the future as well, i'd be very happy to have rook figure out massage therapy (or the closest cats can get to that anyway lol) in case you decide to go with poppy seeds we'd probs need to figure out something that doesnt involve cinderpaw ingesting poppy seeds quite as often anyway. ]
ⵌ ➜ #GUTSPAW ˗ˏˋ ✮ it . teeth . bite . // seventeen moons ˎˊ˗
small spiky-furred black tabby with striking icy blue eyes. has a huge fluffy tail & a few scars in the shapes of bite-marks - notch in left ear.
❝HIGH ACHIEVER, DON'T YOU SEE? BABY, NOTHING COMES FOR FREE !!❞
Ugh. Gutspaw felt horrid even after it had wolfed down a toad. Seriously. Maybe it had lost more blood than it realized because it had a headache that wouldn't leave, nausea and dizziness every time it changed position, and a hunger that teeth could not fulfil. A hunger for something it couldn't even grasp, dare to ponder about. It didn't know what that said about it. How it could crave such things, to inflict such harm on its clanmates. Gutspaw had covered its own nest (..and some of the wall..) in asymmetrical clawmarks attempting to make the damn thoughts stop. Spinning in a circle three times. Running a lap six times. (Not the brightest idea.)
Finally, the apprentice relented and cautiously approached the medicine cat den. See, teeth figured it would just see how its wounds healed on its own but now it was desperate to ease the other peculiar symptoms so might as well surrender. "Yoo, anyone in here think they can take a gander at these bite marks? 'N also maybe if you had anythin' for like, a nasty headache and nausea that would be cool. No worries if not, " actually a lot of worries. Gutspaw needed to be put down if it didn't get some peace.
Speaking of, as if right on key the scent of the den hit Gutspaw's nose and it was leaning against the doorway for support. Its mouth filled with saliva, the scent of blood was so - strong, so tantalizing. Okay, seriously what in the abyss?? It was so dizzy with bloodlust.
cool grey eyes opened, angular head lifting from where it had been resting under his tail and barely supressing a yawn he located a familiar apprentice by the den entrance and immediately jumped to his paws, realisation chasing all exhaustion to the back of his mind. "didnt i say ye should come around immediately?" rookfire opened the conversation with scolding the soon to be warrior instead of actually replying to the questions as he emerged from one of the darker corners of the medicine den. stars curse him for not keeping track of all the cats that were involved in the rat and snake fight with all the things that happened. man he could make up a excuse for him to forget one of the other warrior or apprentice he didnt particularly care about but gutspaw was certainly one he had expected himself to remember. teeth not only being one of his favourite current apprentices with a sharp personality and a bright future if bite kept up the training and effort.
anyway, back to gutspaw and bites well, bite marks. "come over here, sit"
"i'll take a look at 'em n see what else i can do for ye" the medicine cat finally offered, picking up the herbs he would need to treat the apprentice on the way over; cobwebs, poppy seeds, burdock root (that he could actually rinse off this time, he wouldnt have to spend more time nauseous and with his stomach cramping, thank the stars) horsetail, chervil. nausea wasnt really something he knew a lot about or was keen to use herbs on given it was something internal that would usually pass with time but he felt generous today. "eat up" the medic ordered neutrally, pushing the two poppy seeds and chervil towards gutspaw while taking a long look at bites wounds before he realised he had forgotten moss which was totally his roleplayers fault. the medic took the opportunity to take a bite of the horsetail to chew on the way to the herb storage, which did cause his to have to attempt to wring out the moss with his paws but would save time in his opinion.
the trip back and forth would give gutspaw enough time to eat the herbs so rookfire returned to sitting next to gutspaw without worrying much about stepping on anything and pressed the moss against the nastiest of the wounds, one he expected to have been caused by a snake judging by the bleeding and shape, and would treat as such. otherwise, he could see a bunch of rat bites littered on the younger cats forelegs and one at the tip of its tail.
shifting the way he held the moss, rookfire got the cobwebs ready for use before removing the moss from the wound, applying a layer of horsetail paste and covering it in cobwebs in order to keep everything in place and as clean as possible. he pushed the remaining horsetail to the side, picked up the burdock root and went to quickly rinse his mouth to rid himself from the remains of horsetail before moving on to pressing the moss (turned a bit to not reuse the same side again) against gutspaws foreleg rat bites, applying the chewed up burdock root to calm the bites and cobwebs. after repeating the same process for the bite at the tip of its tail, rookfire took the time to rinse his mouth again before addressing teeth. "all done, the one on yer hindleg will probably scar..if ye start feelin' sick dont hesitate ta' come back here"
