It seemed that she had missed the part of the ceremony where her mentor had been reassigned. Snowbush had never done much training with her anyway, she had mostly been left to hunt and fight on her own after being taught the basics. Not that she complained, but there came a point where graduating to become a warrior was more important to her than having time to lounge around and have fun. Hawkfury was one of the few adult warriors she could respect, having known him from the horrible patrol that ended with the frog attack.
Spying him approaching through the crowd she dipped her head, allowing one corner of her mouth to slip into a smile, "Nice to see you again, Hawkfur." She remembered that he was a Fury and breathed a silent sight of relief at the thought of having a competent mentor. Her brown and white pelt bunched as she rolled her shoulders, trying to think of the answer to his question, "Not as much as I should have. I can do the basics and not much more, mainly thanks to everything i learned when I was a kit." Burnetpaw knew that now wasn't the time to be making snarky comments. It was time to get down to business so she could become a warrior soon.

Leechscar barely refrained from bursting out laughing as his new apprentice made sure his mother knew he was made an apprentice. He was sure Leopardsong had working ears and eyes, but whatever made the kid happy.
Oh! OH! That's why Batglare was in such a foul mood. After Lichenpaw got her warrior name, Lichenshock, Twilightstar spoke about Twistedpaw or rather Featherblossom. Leechscar hadn't been as close as he would have liked with his foster mother's lookalike, but he had liked her more than the average cat. She had so much left to give the clan and with Batglare in her life, he had been looking forward to seeing her live a full life unburdened by the same hardships and upbringing that Ashfeather had. To learn that she passed so tragically, it rattled the tom, similar to how Wolffang's death had.
The news about the exiles and the new kits were made, and Leechscar forced himself to give his full attention to Cottonball. "Um, so..." He trailed off taking a second to clear his head. "Usually we'd do a territory tour first, but as I can't stay on my paws for all that walking. We'll do the territory tour another time." He promised.
The pain in his paws brought him out of his mild shock and back to reality. He'd have to talk to Batglare after he was done with this. "So how about we do some hunting and a bit of battle training? You can spar with Owlbait, she needs fighting lessons too." Leechscar had heard how Owlpaw had tried to fight whatever critter had lumbered into WindClan's camp during the fires. He was less than pleased to hear about it. He hadn't trained her how to fight yet, and he knew without a doubt that Twilightstar and Deadmoon would be on his ass about it if she got hurt or something. His guilt would probably eat at him first though.
"Owlbait, get over here. Come meet Cottonball and then we're hunting and doing battle training." He called for his older apprentice, although not by much.

OHHH. Wait a minute. Silly Aubs! She'd been so focused on burning a hole through Bigcat she hadn't even noticed that BREEZY WAS A FURY NOW!! Beaming and practically shaking as soon as her beloved parental figure friend called her name, Owlpaw flung herself at Deadmoon in sheer joy, aiming a massive bearhug at the feline. Wowzers, Breezy was shrinking! Owlpaw definitely wasn't growing that fast! There was no way. "BREEEEZY!" She exclaimed, "Y're a Fury! That's so cool!" Supposedly landing a bop of her nose on the limp-pawed molly's muzzle before retracting and watching the meeting for a little while. Until the little puffball that had helped her decide what to rename Leechscar got apprenticed to him. HER MENTOR!!
What if Jumper forgot about her...? No, no, that wouldn't happen! Jumper was too awesome, he was her friend! They were friends, right? Of course, silly! Of course they were. He called her Owlbait! See! "Oughta go!" Owlpaw said apologetically to Breezy before lolloping away to her mentor. Battle training? Yippee! The cat who appeared to be a living cloud (New nickname unlocked!) Was little. Little guy. "Hiya, Cloud!" She chirruped to the newly made apprentice, giving him a grin before focusing on her mentor, forcing the last of the jealous nerves from her eyes. "M' ready to go!" She chirped, aaaand back to Cloud her attention went. "Hope y're ready t' lose!" Owlpaw's voice was mischievous and proud, daring for a retort.

Okay! Great! Deamlight was found!
Leopardpaw's ear twitched a little bit at the contact but she paid it no mind.
She could finally get to finishing her training!
"Hi! Yup, that's me!" Leopardpaw said enthusiastically, sitting by Dreamlight-from what she could tell-as offered "What I need to finisshhh... well, I've hunted but not, like, rabbits and stuff. I also dunno' how to fight yet."
Those were the things that stuck out.
She'll have to readjust too, but she was sure she could handle that.
Dreamlight listened as Twilightstar finished the meeting. Featherblossom. The name danced around in her head as a brief hint of grief touched her sightless eye. Crushed by rocks, what a painful way to go. Dreamlight would have happily traded places with the she-cat. Featherblossom had so many cats who cared about her and would miss her. Dreamlight couldn't say the same about herself. Which is why it would have been better if they swapped places. Poor, poor Featherblossom.
"So you just have rabbit hunting and fighting left?" Dreamlight asked. That shouldn't take too long to learn, she hoped she'd be able to have Leopardpaw as a warrior within a few moons then. The she-cat twitched her ear, hearing her brother speak with his apprentice. It sounded like he was doing the same thing as she was. She was tempted to ask and see if she and Leopardpaw could join them but then thought better.
She'd see about throwing Leopardpaw into a spare with one of Leechscar's apprentices another time. "Come on, follow me. We'll start with rabbit hunting and then work on fighting after." The blind warrior quickly led the way out of camp on confident paws.

She waved her tail to Cottonkit as the apprentice shouted to her. She'll have to properly consulate him another time, it sounded like Leechscar wanted to start training immediately. The queen spotted Skykit talking with one of the new apprentices she was always all over the place. She had to be the most adventurous of Leopardsong's kit. She didn't see much of Falonkit or Magnoliakit outside of the nursery.
She was a little worried about the pair and how inseparable they were. She was glad that Falonkit wanted to protect his siblings, but Magnoliakit would have to learn to stand on her paws one of these days, without her brother constantly hovering over her. "You can stay out here and play if you want, Jasminekit. I've got to check on the others in the nursery." Leopardsong told her daughter as she rose and began heading back into the nursery.
Her tag stopped wagging across the ground and instead, her body vibrated further. "Congrats Sneezepaw! We should train together sometime!" She nudged the other new apprentice on the shoulder gently before other words caught her short attention span. Other felines showed up. Important felines in her life -- her family. She was getting the support she craved, and it made her chest well with appreciation.
LITTLEPAW, LITTLEPAAWWW!!!
Elated by the announcement, Littlepaw's pupils dilated fully as she stared at Twi-star. Then, her gaze would sweep to her FireMa and she'd beam the biggest, brightest smile she could muster despite the disapproval her mama gave her about her appearance. Obviously, Twi-star didn't mind that much if she was now an apprentice. "Mama, I did it! I was the first to do it!" she spoke quietly, but excitedly. She would do this for Blazingkit and MedicineMa, too. She would do this for the other siblings she didn't see often or at all since leaving the nursery more often.
Next, her gaze swept to Windkit and a loud purr rumbled from her chest. Her smile remained as she addressed her sibling: "I'll teach you all the things!" she promised. Her little tail flicked upwards, trying to touch her sibling playfully.
Lastly, Dustbunny approached. Her mentor."Bunny!" she chimed quietly, not wanting to be overheard by Twi-star. "I'm so excited!" She trilled, shuffling her front paws vigorously on the ground. A little pitter-patter was heard beneath her as she did her best to focus on the announcements ahead. Twi-star continued on, dismissing the clan when she was done. Littlepaw would cheer for her clan-mates then turn back to Dustbunny with eager eyes. "When do we start?!"
Dustbunny chuckled at Littlepaw's adorable greeting. Whether the apprentice was causing as much trouble as she heard or not, Dustbunny could understand why Firestorm let her get away with it. She was far too cute to say no to. While Twilightstar continued with the announcements, Dustbunny briefly wondered what happened to Blazingkit. Those two had been such a sweet pair of siblings. Did the youngster go missing?
Her folded ears twitched softly hearing of Featherblossom's death. She said a small prayer for the molly and listened carefully as Twilightstar reminded them again about the outsiders and chasing them off. Dustbunny never really paid too much attention to meetings, but she did get the feeling that Twilightstar had been talking about outsiders a lot these last few meetings.
When everything was said and done, the brown she-cat leaned down to stretch out her front legs. "We can start right now if you'd like. We need to check out the territory and we can do some rabbit hunting if we find some rabbits." Dustbunny trilled. A soft smile on her maw. She felt eyes on her pelt and looked around until she located the one watching her. Fleetpaw. Ah, she still needed to take him out for some lessons.
"Hey, Littlepaw. Do you wanna be a tunneler or a warrior?" She asked. Dustbunny wasn't going to sway Littlepaw's decision in any way. The tunneler just needed to know if she needed to add lessons to their training. She could bring Fleetpaw with them for those.
Fleetpaw blinked when Dustbunny spotted him, but he didn’t flinch. Instead, the typically skittish apprentice waved his tail in greeting, a small and almost sad smile on his maw. He didn’t suppose that Dustbunny would be assigned two apprentices. But Twilightstar had already dismissed the meeting, and nothing had been said about him. Well that was okay…he could still take lessons on digging and tunneling right? Dustbunny had said she would teach him some things. He watched the meeting disperse, his clanmates milling about their business. He wasn’t sure if he should go and congratulate Dustbunny and Littlepaw, it might seem…odd for him to just randomly walk up to them.
Still, something got Fleetpaw up on his paws and padding over to the pair, albeit shakily. Once he reached them, he dipped his head to Littlepaw and Dustbunny each in turn. “Con-Congratulations Littlepaw!” He meowed, a slight purr in his voice though it wasn’t very…strong. Truly, he felt like he seemed silly. But hopefully this was normal enough for it to pass as acceptable.
Jasminekit was relieved by Leopardsong’s reassurance. Although the entire clan being introduced to her like that made her a little nervous, at least she wasn’t in trouble. But all her nerves overtook her again when Leopardsong got up to go back to the nursery. “M-Mama?” She asked in her tiny voice, eyes wide with despair. But she was already gone. Jasminekit wasn’t used to being on her own, but she stayed. Part of her wanted to make friends and socialize, she just wasn’t entirely sure how and didn’t want to be rude. Play… With whom? Tiny dark amber eyes scanned the area, wide with curiosity and eagerness as much as nervousness.
Littlepaw was nearly bouncing in place when Dustbunny confirmed they could start right away. Oh, she was so ready! So, so ready! However, a new question arose and the dilute calico tilted her head a little bit. She supposed she hadn't thought much about it before. "Miss Bunny, what is the difference?" Littlepaw inquired. No one had actually spoken to her about this before. Honestly, she thought the rank was a made up one that her mama was just spreading around to get her hyped about it. It wasn't until their digging lesson that Littlepaw would hear about it again. Not until now, at least.

Cottonpaw gave Leechscar a bold smile. Nodding furiously, excited to try his best. Hunting and fighting, he wasn’t quite sure how well he’d do but he’d give it his best try. ”N..nice to meet ya Owlpaw, I’ll try my hardest not to!” Squeaking excitedly, Owlpaw certainly seemed friendly enough albeit a little brash. Seemed quite contrasting to his own typical reservedness but he admired it. He wanted to be loud and proud but hadn’t yet worked up the proper nerve.
”I’m ready to go, t..this should be fun”, cheery and bright eyed as usual. Forever the hopeful optimist. But he wasn’t afraid to get his paws dirty and roll around in the mud. He’d received a nip or two from stray kittens in the nursery so surely it couldn’t be much worse than that. But he’d seen the scars from battle others had received, they looked much worse. Yet they remained beautiful to him, adorning trophies a part of him almost yearned for.

It's fine. Huh. Whiterabbit would've been spitting mad, at Quailpaw's age, over the perceived insult of being ignored hard enough by an older cat to need a reassignment. Maybe Quailpaw's significantly more mature than all that, though, which is probably for the best. Whiterabbit offers a chipper grin, not going in for the traditional nose-tap but instead giving the dark tabby a friendly nudge to the shoulder.
"Welp! We'll get going whenever you're ready to go, okay? So if you need to go eat or potty or catch up on sleep, let me know. Where'd your old mentor leave you off at?" She's got to know what all she's working with, and then she'll build from there.

Quailpaw had to think, and only now was she realizing how her old mentor had slowed her training so bad. Two whole moons spent doing absolutely nothing! Where did that cat leave her off? Nowhere! Honestly, Quailpaw was getting a little mad now. Was it that mad to get off your lazy ass to go and train your apprentice for at least the bare minimum amount of time required?! Apparently, yes! But she didn't stay mad for long, remembering...maybe something happened to them. "Uh...well I think I know some of the territory...that's about it."

Okay, they were getting started quickly!

The spotted apprentice quickly got up to follow Dreamlight "Okay!" She said cheerfully, padding after her based on the sound of where her voice had went.
Um... huh. That's not a question she's ever been asked before. Dustbunny tips her head sideways while thinking about the differences between being a warrior and a tunneler. Honestly, there wasn't a great difference between the two besides working with dirt and the dark. Dustbunny still patrolled with the warriors, and once in a blue moon hunted above ground, she was still responsible for defending the borders and fighting for her clanmates. She simply knew a bit more than the average warrior, she still learned everything regular warriors knew.
The she-cat waves her tail in a quiet greeting to Fleetpaw as the apprentice joins them to congratulate Littlepaw. "Well, tunnelers primarily work underground, we do a lot of our hunting down there and digging as well." She answered with a thoughtful flicker of her ear. She could go into greater detail but it might just be easier to show her.
"How about we do these? We can do some hunting underground while we're exploring the territory. If you like underground hunting and aren't scared of the tunnels, I can add some tunneling lessons to our regular ones. It might be easier to decide between a tunneler or a warrior by showing you rather than listening to me explain it. You won't have to decide until you finish your training anyway." Dustbunny purred.
"Fleetpaw, I promised to teach you more about tunneling too. If Littlepaw's fine with it you can come with us." She wasn't sure where Fleetpaw was in his training, but Dustbunny wanted to try getting the hunting portion of the Littlepaw's training done while they explored. That way if Littlepaw found it interesting they could focus on the tunneling portion later.
Fleetpaw would have to deal with a refresher in the territory tour if he had already learned it and possibly rabbit hunting.
