She nodded again. Her cuts felt better now. "No, hey didn't get my throat, or anything like that" she mewed softly. She curled up into Weepingwillow's fluff. She couldn't help it; her eyes swiftly drifted shut, against all of her power to stay awake. Scooping up Mitekit and plopping him down with Mantiskit Olivekit and Cinderkit safely in their belly fluff, safely away from where the rest of the sick cats were massacring the remains of rat king. It wasnt all good however, poor Cinderkit was crying, upset and the tripods heart broke even as they moved to comfort her, rasping a tongue over the kits head as they purred in comfort. Wasnt easy really, purring hurt with their sore throat but Cinderkit was probably hurting too, the sickness ravaging the kits little body, so Mudhound was going to keep purring no matter the pain.
Luckily with some newer cats rushing in to answer their call for help the rats were quickly taken care of and- Oh hey Hollowpaw! It was bad he too was apparently sick but really good that plague-clan now had a dedicated healer, especially because now they were rife with rat bites and at huge risk of infection. Infection that could kill easily with how weakened the sick cats already were.
The rats could've also easily hurt the kits, being the same size as the young cats and them being injured to boot but that was no longer an issue with them dead, Mudhound answering Olivekits fearful question. "Dont worry the rats only got in because theyre small and wiggled in through the wall, big predators wont be able to. Plus we're gonna get to work now to plug the small holes so this cant happen again. The rats are dead, we're safe and this wont happen again." That last part drifted more to Cinderkit then Olivekit but the point was there.
They werent the only one wanting the hornets attention though as there was Spiderthroat all morose, but Mudhound was the forgiving sort so gamely if tiredly smiled at the deputy, meowing "Its ok Spider-dude, you couldnt predict this and once the walls are shored up and improved its no harm done but some bites! And we got Hollowpaw here for those bites now too so we can be healed without infection!"
Sadly Olivekit, with typical kit stupidity took the opportunity while Mudhound was distracted to escape the tripods grip and get into trouble. Trouble not danger, because despite him AND Weepingwillow seeming to think the rats were still threats the rats were all dead at that point and never a danger to the kit. Not that the kit seemed to realized, especially with Weepingwillow encouraging this stupid and not correcting the mistake but feeding into the lie. "Weepingwillow! Stop riling Olivekit up. Olivekit that rat was already dead when you got to it the body was just twitching it wasnt a threat. You were never gonna get hurt but that was very bad of you to escape where I was keeping you safe to face it! If it was alive it couldve killed you, you shouldve known better then to call for a warrior instead of going after it yourself with no training!
For this bad behavior youre not getting to listen to the story with Mitekit, Mantiskit, Quackkit and Cinderkit if she wishes to join. And Weepingwillow you did good but maybe dont feed into the kits play pretend when the situation is so dire...."
Honestly the whole thing was stupid and overdramatic but Olivekit at least didnt know any better while the queen should. The rats were dead, just corpses now that someone was probably gonna clean soon and the threat was gone so the tripod was gonna focus on the good kittens (and maybe Olivekit if she acknowledged her wrongs).
"Ok kittens the danger is gone alls fine now! Buuuuuut for being good and staying close where I could protect you you all get a cool story! Theres even some real herby stuff in it, isnt that cool!

Mitekit really had meant to follow what Mudhound said, but her legs kept shaking, and she honestly felt stuck in place. Her nose was constantly filled with mucus, and her lungs ached from coughing and wheezing. With that, she was glad to be picked up. Sure it was embarrassing to have to be treated like a newborn, but in the realm of safety, she couldn't find it in her to care all that much. She let her tears fall into her face as she nuzzled into Mudhound curling up next to her sibling and wishing that Auntie Softdaisy would come and visit her.
At the sound of Mantiskit, she raised her head, "Mitekit has been sick for a long time..." She shook her head with vigor, "How can Mitekit not miss Mama! Mitekit is sad she can't visit us..." With all that chatting he hadn't noticed that all the rats had been killed off the small kits' attention was brought back in at the sound of 'story'. "Is it a happy one..?" she asked shyly peaking at the older cat.

She felt her cheeks rush with hot embarrassment, She felt tears prick her eyes. "I am so sorry." she whispered quietly. Curse her and her impulse to plat hero. She nodded, accepting her punishment. But... what if..."I promise I will never do it again. Can I please listen to the-" she said, her question cut of with a cough. "The story" Her small eyes pleaded with Mudhound. "I am sorry. Please Mudhound, please." As she waited for the answer, she curled her body up next to Mantiskit. She couldn't believe she had made a fool of herself in front of her friend. Her only friend at that. Why would she ever become a warrior with her impulse like that. Impulses to kill and ALREADY DEAD RAT?!! This would be the downfall of her if she kept it up. She made a silent vow then and there. She would never again disobey. Never. She would be a loyal, obedient warrior of ThunderClan. If this sickness ever relented, and she survived kithood. Hopefully, if StarClan approved. "Are you looking for an apprentice" she asked Mudhound. "In a moon, I will be of age" She hoped her stupid fight with the dead rat hadn't ruined her chances.

"Please let her listen to the story!" Mantiskit begged Mudhound. She really wanted her best friend to listen to it with her. "I'll be an apprentice in a moon too!" Mantiskti squealed to Olivekit. "I want my dad to mentor me. After-" She got cut off by a huge cough. "After I'm done being sick." After hse stiffled that out of her mouth, she went into a coughing fit. Sunpaw I'm chasing dreams since I left the womb + she/her + The collector [active]
She could hear all the commotion just beyond her foggy head, and maybe a few paw steps away from her. She had no idea what was happening, staying curled up and lying in her dizzying thoughts, why was it so hard to think about nice things? So sunpaw was completely up for ignoring the current problem that was in camp, staying in one spot felt really nice right now. Well, that was until she heard her brothers call for help, what was her brother even doing to ask for help? She had no energy to do any sort of fighting but she would force herself just to help a sibling in aid. Uncurling and getting up on wobbly legs she dragged herself over to the weird rat pile, was that a brown blob in front of them? Why did it even look like that, it looked like they were trying to eat each other.
"I th-think dad will be mad if he saw us getting our asses kicked by that mess" hopefully Brindlepaw could tell she was joking. Sunpaw was sure dad would be understanding of the problem and what ails them right now. A bite of her paw had her sluggish mind reeling from the pain and she looked back at the mass of rats, some dead some alive. Another set of bites from the ones still alive and in retaliation she clumsily stomped on one of the rat's head when she had been aiming to really claw its neck, oops. "Stupid brown mass of idiots" she whined as she received a few more bites in return. No other thought floated in her head and she kicked the mass away from both her and her brother with the other limp dead rats dragging with them. "How does one get their tails tangled together" she plopped down beside her brother if he didn't oppose it, she sure hoped not.

Rescue came both faster than expected and after what felt like an eternity. Sunpaw. His sister. Who he probably (definitely) hadn't spoken too as much as he ought to. Then again, Brindlepaw hadn't spoken to anyone too much, so relative to the rest of the clan they were positively best friends. Their friendship status also wasn't important right now, because what he needed right now was saving from the rats. Sunpaw did manage to do so, though Brindlepaw could see her wincing as the rats bit into her paws. He felt bad, she shouldn't have to protect him, but he was too sick to worry about such things. He just sat there and licked his paws. They hurt.
Sunpaw rejoined him shortly, apparently having seen the rats off in another direction. She apparently had the energy to speculate upon the reason for their conjoinment and Lioncrest's opinion of their skills, and he found that, if he stopped focusing on the pain in his paws, he could manage a bit of light conversation too. Yes, I......reckon he'd be pretty angry. Brindlepaw mewed, half joking. Lioncrest would probably understand, Dovefluff certainly would, but some of their older, more....austere relatives, if they were still around, might not accept illness as an excuse.
I've no idea how he broke off to cough. they ended up like that. Brindlepaw replied, gazing disinterestedly at the chaos that was wrapping itself up. The mass appeared to have been subdued, or at least wasn't moving around too much anymore. Maybe they.....got in some pine sap or something. It wasn't the brightest supposition, but it was something to keep the little chat going. Do you think we should go and see.... pause. Who was it again that'd just wandered in? Hollowpaw? Wolfpaw? Which baby medicine cat again? He thought Hollowpaw. Hollowpaw about the rat bites? He might be able to....deal with that better than the the rest of his words were cut off by a pretty horrid coughing fit, which probably summed up what he had been planning to say far better than any words could have done.
