➢ The Hauntress was circling the clearing calmly before entering the Apprentice den. And if she was being honest to themself, they wanted to walk right back out… But someone in here was clearly in need of some sort of comfort. The pelt was a bit familiar, one of the kits of Lostspark and Darkfall, born three moons before Hollowpaw. It didn’t take one with the brain of Starclan to know why Quietpaw was upset. Hollowpaw couldn’t imagine what it was like to have your mother’s death announced on a random chilly afternoon.
The shaky breaths are a hint to how bad it much hurt, but Hollowpaw still couldn’t fully comprehend such a loss. The black and white cat steps closer. Sitting down next to the tattered nest alongside its sobbing inhabitant. “Quietpaw?” Her voice isn’t much above a whisper, having to strain it to offer any sort of verbal acknowledgment of friendliness. “Do you wish to talk about it? We could walk around camp if you need someone to listen…” Her voice trails off, fading into a humming silence. The Hauntress’ face gives a look of sympathy. Yes, she could at least offer that. Even if a walk held little value….
The loss of a loved one would forever hurt, even Hollowpaw couldn’t escape it… But maybe, just maybe! Providing someone else a chance to be heard would slaughter Hollow’s own regrets and open a door once closed…this is what Hawkbite would do, right?

Movement. Quietpaw could sense another being settling by her side. Still, she stayed in place, the only motion that came from her was the uneven rise and fall of her flank. Why had she been approached? To be humiliated? Too bad, she already was. "Quietpaw?" they knew her name. Was she that notable? She couldn't remember hearing that voice before...maybe she just didn't care, that sounded like her. No one in particular had ever stood out to her before.. was it ignorance or simply because no cat had caught her attention...she didn't know. She didn't know much, did she?
The voice speaks again, this time offering an ear to listen. To talk. Her nose wrinkled at the word. Talking never got her anywhere. All conversations she'd participated in had left her feeling even more rotten than before. Always left sulking of snarling, most of the time both, in the end. Wasn't chatting supposed to make one's spirits become lifted? Perhaps that was a lie as well..."What good is talking if it only ends in shouting?"she asked flatly, bitterness creasing her features. Quietpaw didn't care what she said now, it didn't matter anyway. Was she always supposed to be burdened by her namesake? How she hoped not.

➢ Silence falls over the shecat. Tail wrapping around her own paws as they listened to the question. Their eyebrow raised in concern then confusion. Hollowpaw lets out a shaky sigh of her own, husky voice holding no ill feeling towards the bitter expression Quietpaw had of full display, “If I wished to come here and shout then why would I have even bothered? I have no plans of it. If you do not have the desire to talk now then I won’t force you into it, I am simply letting you know that if you need someone to listen…I’m here. Even if we do not know each other well…” Once again her voice fades to murmurings. Hollowpaw keeps her offer on the bark, they wouldn’t revoke it.
Blue and amber eyes stare at the Apprentice now, having found their place no longer drifting away from eye contact. Her next action is filled with hesitation, alongside self-doubt, they extend a paw. A nonverbal tell of ‘Lets go, you can’t rot in here forever’. Black and white cat standing following the gesture, eyes not leaving Quietpaw.

The Vessel could hear sounds outside. Apprentices trickled out of the den at their leader's call, but not her. Birdpaw remained curled up tightly in her nest, facing the wall away from the den entrance. She stared, unseeing, at the hollowed inside of the stump the apprentices slept in. Her ears rang with the intensity of the silence in the den, twisting and shifting into cruel voices that sounded so familiar. A voice she would never hear again. Never use again.
Mama's voice.
No tears slipped from dull amber eyes. She had no more left. The Vessel remained, motionless, the will to move, to curl even tighter around herself, completely gone.
rookfire wasnt quite sure what pushed him to see out birdpaw on this day, perhaps the nagging feeling that in some twisted way he was responsible for lostsparks passing, carrying some of the blame in his own inaction. it was stupid and he knew it was, yet the thoughts persisted, kept him restless and would most likely steal hours of his nightly rest. whatever it was, birdpaw and cinderpaw mattered to him and whilst their sister sleepysunrise was as unapproachable to him as darkfall had been to him at any point in time, he felt like he could at least do his part in offering comfort. something for the younger cats to know they could fall back on or at the very least make them feel less alone.
he didnt know where cinderpaw was so birdpaw had been his first choice for now, having observed her disappear into the apprentices den earlier. as per usual, rookfire had not planned any words, hoping his presence for one would be help enough, but also overall preferring to not think about anything uncomfortable until absolutely necesarry. it wasnt a good trait and he knew he should work on it, but it had never gotten him into a situation troubeling enough that he felt the need to change his behaviour now. so here he was, stood in front of the apprentices den and stepping from paw to paw, unsure. just. go.
quiet steps echoed impossibly loud in his ears accompanied by the dull rushing of blood in his ears and the all too familiar tightness in his chest. "hey birdpaw" he spoke, voice low and quieter than usually, before crouching down in front of her, meeting empty amber eyes with almost soft grey ones.

Pondpaw apologized again, but once more got no response. Birdpaw did lean her head further on Pondpaw's, however, the only indication that she had heard the apprentice's apologies. Why was everyone apologizing? They hadn't killed her mother. They hadn't ruined her family. They hadn't made her lungs weak and her brain stupid.
Then Rookfire came in, and distantly the urge to curl in further on herself made itself known. But Birdpaw remained motionless, still pressed against Pondpaw. Rookfire crouched down in front of her, staring into empty eyes that did not see him. At least, not really. Didn't he have somewhere else to be? Mossfreckle was surely upset--he had been close to Mama too. Birdpaw might have found it funny that Rookfire of all cats was here to comfort her--not her own big brother. But that was fine. She didn't have the energy to mull over it anyway. Hopefully Rookfire wouldn't think her rude for not talking or moving--but even if he did, Birdpaw was too tired to care.

Since Pondpaw had nothing else to say, she rasped her tongue over her friend´s ears in a comforting manner. Her ears flicked in greeting towards Rookfire as the Medicine Apprentice arrived.
´´She´s not talking,´´ Pondpaw mewed softly to Rookfire, wrapping her tail tighter around Birdpaw´s shoulders.
