As a reminder:

- There will be a five-round system where we will roll dice for each cat participating. The results will be as follows:

* 1-5 = automatic fail; you miss the catch.
* 6-10 = you catch one piece (and perhaps not as smoothly as you'd want).
* 11-15 = you catch two pieces! look at you!
* 16-20 = you catch three pieces, wowza!

**Note: if you have the Ultimate Predator purrk, your dice will be rolled twice! The better outcome of the two will be chosen. Please notify us if you have this purrk if it's not listed on your header/posts!**

- But beware! Not all numbers are as they seem... some random numbers between 1-20 have been chosen as 'trapped'. Rolling these digits might land you in a rather inconvenient situation. Each group will have different 'trapped' numbers. Perhaps the dice will be kind to you? Perhaps not...

- This will be a semi-fast-paced event where we will be wanting to roll every 2-3 days to keep it moving, so if you're participating, please be ready to respond! No post means no dice rolls, so if there isn't one, we will skip over you for that roll.

Sleepysunrise

Sleepysunrise, though not skilled in the matters of social cues, could have a perceptive eye when she so wished. Such as, when many a cat were out hunting despite the recent dangers within the territory, out to fill the clan's bellies with prey. That is to say, the youngest enforcer had not failed to notice Shadepaw seemingly adjusting her pose as they went along, and the feline found herself observing - appraising - the apprentice for a minute. Though refinements were always necessary, either Shadepaw was skilled or her mentor had done a decent job (for once) as the younger feline seemed not to be struggling much. As such it allowed any comment on Sleepysunrise's end to remain silent as her focus shifted back to Willowpaw.

This apprentice seemed to be struggling more despite her age. It was disappointing, mostly on her mentor's end; she did not like to see it. But alas, the woes of being a regular warrior... Failing the simplest of tasks that was training an apprentice for life. With focus now on Willowpaw, Sleepysunrise did take notice of the apprentice's silent steps. It seemed her stealth had received adequate work, at least, and she almost had good hope -- but such hope was wasted. She huffed a sigh, padding up beside Willowpaw and flicking her tail so the apprentice would observe. Silently, Sleepysunrise stalked off to catch a nearby shrew, presenting it to the apprentice moments later.
"Again."
The enforcer mew, blinking as though she were saying "you know your mistake".

Whatever Duskpaw ran into behind that bush just seemed to stick in her nose. And she missed two whole rounds? Nevertheless, she got back into it and lowered herself to the ground, ready for round four.

Meadowwhisper blinked, leaping at the next piece of prey she spotted and stalked

"Oh c'mon!" Wildstorm shouted, exasperated. Her tail lashing as she hissed in frustration. She had half a mind to teach that bush not to get her in her way...but she didn't know if it was a medicinal plant so felt best to leave it be and try again. Trotting away before crouching down, thankfully it didn't take long for her to pick up another prey scent. Still forcing herself to be careful, she positioned herself cautiously before lunging for her prey.

Pondpaw stalked a squirrel. If she succeeded in catching it, she´d go after the nearest shrew nest and try to catch a few of those.[ 89 / 100 ]

Shadepaw quickly found a new scent-- a vole. Those shouldn't be too different from mice, right? So she got into position, stalked, and pounced. This time she made sure to nip the vole from the neck like Sleepysunrise had said to do. This must've been why it had been harder to find prey after her first catch-- she realized the vole didn't have a chance to squeal like the mouse had. Taking the vole back to where she buried her mouse, she added her new catch next to it. She couldn't help feeling pride blossoming-- but she quickly tamped it down, lashing her tail as she turned. There wasn't time for pride-- at least not until the hunt is over. Eyes narrowed in concentration, she caught another vole fairly easily.
Then she caught a new scent. Bird. Or more specifically, a sparrow. That would be tougher to catch, as the sparrow had wings and could escape more easily. She inched forward with silent steps. She could smell it right ahead. Clovepool flashed through her mind. She could not fail. A rush of determination steeled herself, and gave her the ability to catch the sparrow before it flew away.

She nodded, grateful for RookFires instruction. She left her prey a bit buried, hoping to leave it for just herself to find. Her next catch attempt didn’t go so great. She quickly picked her stuck foot back up and shook any dirt that got stuck on it. Bleh. She stalked a bit away, scenting the air. Vole…probably? Here goes another attempt.

Drat, well, he did alright his first catch, surely he could do so again? Third times a charm…right? He spotted a mouse out the corner of his eyes, quickly crouching.

Ha HA! Your boy was back in the game! It was with great satisfaction and not an insignificant amount of smugness that Shrewstep got ahold of one frog, and then twisted quickly to drag another unlucky amphibian towards him! Heck yeah! His, all his! Well, probably not really, the elders or queens would definitely eat at least one of them, but it was the thought that counted. For sure. He was just going to claim victory on this one, let him have it. It couldn't hurt anybody.

Unfortunately all of the frogs had no retreated to the safety of their puddles, and he was forced to search for new hunting grounds. Or a new spot, whatever. Semantics. He found one in the form of a beech tree starting to drop nuts, which would be sure to attract a rodent or two. Maybe even a bird. Who knew, really! Everything liked to eat beech nuts. Maybe Shrewstep should try some himself, since they were so popular! This was, of course, nonsense, and after a moment of far-to-serious thought, he deemed it to be so. Oh well. He would just settle for eating something that had eaten beech nuts instead. Slinking forwards, he could pick up the scent of a mouse, a vole, and a bird. Which one he'd get a shot at would just.....come down to luck.

Color her surprise when she went to have a second go at hunting, and she managed to snag three squirrels. Her second try at hunting was successful, maybe luck was on her side for now. Hopefully, this said luck will continue in the next round and won't be a disappointment.
