the fire burnt papa?!!! no wonder the big cats were talking like it was bad, egretkit thinks, a look of shock etched on her features. well, no worries. she'll just do exactly what she did when miss twillystar told her what happened to her eye! "I'm glad you're okay, papa...but don't worry! next time a big bad fire happens, I'll go like..WAPOW, and FOOO!!" she says, one paw lifted up to demonstrate a smack while blowing a puff of wind. "then nobody will get burnt ever again." wow, who knew there were so many bad guys out there..good thing she has papa here! they can send all the bad guys to timeout together.
she giggles as her father's tail brushed over her face, attempting to bat at it briefly. oops, maybe she was a bit too loud. hehe.
"sorrryyyy," she whispers with a tiny giggle. she nods enthusiastically at the mention of becoming an apprentice, too. her father's right, soon she'll be an apprentice too. but it feels so far away! "I know! maybe gracks, crowy, and I can all get the same mentor so we can all trust together! that'd be fun." though, who'd be her mentor? and her brothers? she's kind of hoping it'll be either her papa, crowtooth, or maybe even twilightstar. she's fine with anyone though. all her clanmates are amazing! speaking of mentors and all..hey! her father got one just now apparently!
burnetpaw, specifically. she looks alllll around, trying to spot the apprentice. "burnetpaw..burnet..burrnnn..burnt!" she hums to herself, much quieter this time. burnetpaw - the first part sounds like burnt, so she must look burnt..? "I don't see any burnt cats, papa," she points out in a puzzled tone, blinking in confusion. anyway, she has a short attention span so her eyes land on twillystar once more. looks like miss lichenpaw is about to become a big cat! woaaowow!

Burnetpaw sat on the edge of the crowd, listening to the Clan announcements with a carefully schooled expression on her face. At the news of Lichenshock's promotion she lifted her muzzle, allowing a cheer to escape from her lips along with the rest of her Clanmates, "Lichenshock!" She hadn't known the apprentice when they had shared a den, so not much emotion was spared for their warrior ceremony. The next news, however, did make a carefully disguised pang of pain shoot through her heart.
Twistedpaw had never been a cat that she was particularly close to, but the introverted molly had been someone she found interesting. She had sometimes considered shattering her mask of apathy to attempt to make friends with her or some of the other apprentices but had eventually decided that she was content in her bubble of solitude. Perhaps she regretted that choice a little now.
The listing off of kits made her want to bury her head in the ground. Did WindClan really need more of those squirmy little brats running around, and so many at that? To her kits were just loud and annoying, and young apprentices weren't much better. They really only stopped being insufferable when they got to 8 moons and realised they weren't the first apprentice to ever do anything. Watching the rest of the meeting with an aloof, glassy eyed expression, she waited to be dismissed.

Pride and affection bloomed stronger than ever in Hawkfur's chest as his daughter threatened any future fire with her amazing skills. The Fury bent down and nosed her cheek, purring heartily. "I know you will, hon. Fires don't stand a chance, against you." But the thought of her, or either of her brothers for that matter, going near a blaze... A fire had taken their mother, once. Destroyed their home and left WindClan in pieces. "But let's not get too eager, yeah?" He loved the enthusiasm his children showed, but he had to instill upon them the understanding that they can't fight everything. Not yet.
Twilightstar continued, and Hawkfur was given a new apprentice. Hm, he was certain he would have been mentoring one of Firestorm's kiddos. Oh well, he'd keep an eye on them to ensure no one was slacking. Speaking of slacking... it seemed he had been given a reassignment. The Fury, no longer averse to having apprentices, scanned the crowd for Burnetpaw. Egretkit helped, claiming she hadn't seen any burned cats. Hawkfur chuckled lowly, brushing his tail over her face again where she sprawled over his paws. "Burnet is an herb... I think." He narrowed his eyes, trying to remember where he had heard it from, but to no avail. "Oh," a pelt he recognized as said apprentice caught his eye. It seemed she hadn't bothered to come meet him. Well, he hardly blamed her. Getting reassigned was never fun. He cheered the names of the kits who had been apprenticed, smiling especially at Cottonpaw's name. The kit's encounter with crowfood had stuck with the Fury--he certainly hoped Cottonpaw had learned his lesson. Plus, with Leechscar as a mentor, Hawkfur was sure the kid would straighten out nicely.
Oh, and Lichenpaw was now Lichenshock! Hawkfur smiled broadly as her name was cheered throughout the camp. That was a good kid, and she would make an excellent edition to the ranks of WindClan's warriors. He'd quite like to see her as a Fury, one day. With Bravebird's passing and Crowtooth's promotion, it was only Hawkfur, Deadmoon, Dapplebreeze, Leechscar and Batglare. While five was a good number, WindClan had a lot of troublemakers and the more elites to watch them, the better.
The death announcements were saddening, as usual. He sent a quick prayer to Bravebird (because he was still furious at StarClan for taking his mate from him, though he refused to admit it) that each of them were welcomed with open arms.
Once the meeting was dismissed, Hawkfur gently slid his daughter off of his paws. "I am going to greet Burnetpaw. You are welcome to come if you like, love." The russet tom padded over to the apprentice, giving her a warm smile. "Burnetpaw, I'm Hawkfur. It's a pleasure to meet you! You'll have to tell me what training you have already received so we can get you your warrior name pronto." 10 moon old apprentices weren't a problem, but could quickly spiral into one if left unattended.
Her tag stopped wagging across the ground and instead, her body vibrated further. "Congrats Sneezepaw! We should train together sometime!" She nudged the other new apprentice on the shoulder gently before other words caught her short attention span. Other felines showed up. Important felines in her life -- her family. She was getting the support she craved, and it made her chest well with appreciation.
LITTLEPAW, LITTLEPAAWWW!!!
Elated by the announcement, Littlepaw's pupils dilated fully as she stared at Twi-star. Then, her gaze would sweep to her FireMa and she'd beam the biggest, brightest smile she could muster despite the disapproval her mama gave her about her appearance. Obviously, Twi-star didn't mind that much if she was now an apprentice. "Mama, I did it! I was the first to do it!" she spoke quietly, but excitedly. She would do this for Blazingkit and MedicineMa, too. She would do this for the other siblings she didn't see often or at all since leaving the nursery more often.
Next, her gaze swept to Windkit and a loud purr rumbled from her chest. Her smile remained as she addressed her sibling: "I'll teach you all the things!" she promised. Her little tail flicked upwards, trying to touch her sibling playfully.
Lastly, Dustbunny approached. Her mentor."Bunny!" she chimed quietly, not wanting to be overheard by Twi-star. "I'm so excited!" She trilled, shuffling her front paws vigorously on the ground. A little pitter-patter was heard beneath her as she did her best to focus on the announcements ahead. Twi-star continued on, dismissing the clan when she was done. Littlepaw would cheer for her clan-mates then turn back to Dustbunny with eager eyes. "When do we start?!"

It was going great, the praise on those who took care of the fire stayed with her. She was proud about it, the fact she had something to do with helping it. Then apprentices. Future warriors for the clan, that was good. Her name- wait why did her name ring in her ears from the voice of TwilightStar? She…got an apprentice. Oh holy hell—she understood it was a basic duty for any cat. As long as the thing was good, she’d be okay. If it cause a single damned issue…oh she couldn’t imagine.
Her yellow gaze darted around in search for this…SparrowPaw?
Ashkit was still wondering what was to happen after he got called up to the Galewood. But when Twilightstar said he would be known as Ashpaw, he knew. He was now an apprentice. Not knowing what to think about it, he looked around. The other kits — no, apprentices — seemed to be happy. I guess I can be happy too, then, he thought.
At a moment, he realised someone called his name — his new name. The apprentice turned around and found himself facing a mackerel tabby. It seemed like he had seen her somewhere else, but Ashkit - no, Ashpaw - couldn’t remember where. “Hi” he said, with a practically unnoticeable hesitance. He then nodded when the cat told him she was his mentor. “So… that means you will be teaching me the warrior code?” he asked.
{ @/seeingstars - Daywhisper - just for context, Ashkit started his life as an outsider ^^ (more info in his bio, click his name on my signature for it) }
Daywhisper nodded, a soft smile plastered on her maw "yes! well- that and several other things- but otherwise yeah!" she said a quiet purr rising in her throat. Her tail swayed behind her as she looked back towards Twilightstar as she dismissed the clan, before looking back to Ashpaw.
"So... I suppose we should start with borders... and if you're not too tired after we could do a bit of hunting too" The Windclan warrior said, humming softly in thought. She hoped she'd be a good mentor. This was her first apprentice, and she was a little nervous she would do it wrong, she tried not to show her nerves though.

Whiterabbit's eyes go huge. An apprentice? She has an apprentice now?? Her head swivels owlishly, hazel eyes sweeping the crowd for Quailpaw. That's one of the older ones, right? It's a reassignment after all...she sucks her teeth. Things have been a little rough around here, sure, but she bristles in sympathy to think of an apprentice not being set up for success. And while she's not entirely sure of her own preparednes...well, she'd done decently showing Bouncepaw how to rabbit-hunt. So it should be easy, right, to do that for another apprentice plus all the other lessons. Yeah?
Whiterabbit gets her butt into gear before the doubts can catch her. If nothing else, she's looking forward to this for the wholly selfish reason of having something new and novel to play with.
"...Quailpaw! Psst! That's you, right?" Stars she hopes she's closing in on the right cat. "I'm Whiterabbit. Your new mentor. Sorry about your old one, whatever happened there."

A new mentor. Well, Quailpaw wasn't all that surprised. She had no clue what in StarClan's name her old mentor was doing, but it surely wasn't training her. It was fine, though, maybe they were just busy. I've spent two whole moons of my apprenticeship doing basically nothing, though, a judgemental voice akin to her own observed inside of her mind.
The warrior came up to her. She could tell she was a bit nervous–well, that made two of them. "Mhm, that would be me," Quailpaw said. "It's fine."
Quailpaw wasn't really mad at the other warrior for not training her, she kinda understood. Maybe she was too much of a pawful to deal with. At least she could start doing some real training, though.

It's fine. Huh. Whiterabbit would've been spitting mad, at Quailpaw's age, over the perceived insult of being ignored hard enough by an older cat to need a reassignment. Maybe Quailpaw's significantly more mature than all that, though, which is probably for the best. Whiterabbit offers a chipper grin, not going in for the traditional nose-tap but instead giving the dark tabby a friendly nudge to the shoulder.
"Welp! We'll get going whenever you're ready to go, okay? So if you need to go eat or potty or catch up on sleep, let me know. Where'd your old mentor leave you off at?" She's got to know what all she's working with, and then she'll build from there.

Ashkit nodded. “Okay… but just so you know, I’ve been there. To the borders, I mean. I even got in ThunderClan territory but that’s another matter” he added, without any particular tone. Ashkit had noticed Daywhisper looked… tense in some sort. But he wasn’t even sure. Maybe he was tense, not his mentor.
