Power Card: Cold Gust

So Cal was certainly quick it seemed, but so were almost all of Crowtooth clanmates and he was more then used to countering their speed speed. After all, that the skunk striped tom was slower meant little if he tricked them.



Bracing his leg but letting Cal make contact so the blow did little (a common tactic for the deputy, tank the scratch and take the wound but mitigate the negative effects for an advantage) the script was quickly flipped.


Given that he didnt have to dodge the hit Crowtooth was already in close range, lunging at Cal and attempting to shoulder check him into the ground using his weight. From there the tom would rain down blows not aiming for anything in particular just hitting hitting hitting and hitting hard as he tried to overwhelm Cal.

* He felt the swipe land, but knew that Crowtooth was up to something. He used his lithe body and quickly slipped to the left and then jumped over to land on the right side of Crowtooth. This time he went for his legs as Crowtooth tried to barrel him over. *

Slippery little guy here, and had some ability to predict strikes, good. It wasnt an uncommon skill among those experienced in battle but it was always useful.



Not that it'd delay the inevitable, experience was everything and any older clan cat would have more then the outsider. He was doing good, obviously a decent fighter but Crowtooth would advise sparring clanmates later to supplement what he knew.


For now, the tom dodged from Cals blows and unleashed his own. Loose dirt and dust was kicked up, obscuring vision, and experienced in working without sight in his tunnels Crowtooth pin pointed Cal even when both cats were blind and moved to bite at him. It was a gentle enough attack to not harm but aiming to grab a leg it was an act oft used in battle.

* His blows missed and he moved back to get out of range. His vision obscured by the dirt and dust. He moved back in order to get out of range from any attack. When the dust settled he moved back in going for a swipe for Crowtooth's head. His heart was pounding, but he wasn't tired. *

Heh, nice try and it'd work for another cat but again, Crowtooth was a tunneler since apprentice hood. Working while blind and in the dirt was something Crowtooth was better at doing then he was better at then moor top hunting. So even if the deputy couldnt see Cal, knowing where he was was all too easy.


A swipe to the head, ducked under though it clipped the top of Crowtooth tattered ears. Hmmm the tom needed to get better at ducking fast, should he have the tips of his ears still that swipe wouldve cut straight through in a real battle.

Good, if Cal could pull off that move in a real fight it could leave a proper wound on an opponent.





Could Cal also turn opponents moves against them? Lets find out.


While Cal didnt have time to pull away Crowtooth reached up to try and grab at the other toms paw, aiming to get ahold of it and pull to yank Cal right off his paws. From there it'd be easy to pin the tom to the ground, though it was technically a move that put risk on Crowtooth. Bringing an enemy close as he was doing meant he could dodge Cals own blows less just as much as Cal couldnt escape his.


Quid pro quo as it was.

* He felt his paws barely clip Crowtooth's ears and then saw Crowtooth duck down for his paws. He felt Crowtooth grab a hold of them but he used this chance to swing his back legs under him as he flipped, kicking them out to try and hit Crowtooth and disorient him. *

Oooof right in the sensitive stomach. Ow ok that was a good kick it might even bruise a bit later (maybe) but if Cal had claws out Crowtooth for sure would have a good cut there. But if there was one thing the overly scarred tom was good at doing it was ignoring injuries and it was fighting 101 that if you had an advantage you did not let go.


So Crowtooth did NOT let go and kept Cal in that bad position for him to be in and just started pummeling him. Biting wasnt an option with the deputy having to keep with grip on the other toms paw but he had paws free sooooo. So the deputy just kept slamming his paws down on Cal, keeping him close so dodging was difficult aiming for the head, throat, belly, anything that could connect and start to end the battle.


Crowtooth was getting kinda hungry after all, dinner had to be soon.

* He felt his paws connect with Crowtooth's belly, but he realized he was in a bad position. He tried to get out of the way, but with Crowtooth still holding on to his back paws it was impossible. He winced as Crowtooth's hits landed and finally he went limp in Crowtooth's grasp. *

...... Oh god now this was a proper tactics decision. Was Cal kinda just giving in and this was surrender and so the end of the fight or was this a ploy. Stars knows Crowtooth himself taught apprentices to play dead frequently in cases when they were pinned by stronger enemies to get away.


The deputy would take that risk however, and released the other tom, stepping off of him and asking through pants "Ya give in yet? Ya more then passed by now but I aint gonna begrudge ya if ya wanna keep goin'." Crowtooth was rapidly regaining his breath after all even if the sun was starting to wane, he could keep going.


However after this as soon as Cal had been in clan for a moon total he was cleared to join the warriors full time without restrictions now that his ability to hunt and fight had been proven and he'd learnt what was required about clan life.

* As his eyes fluttered open and he groaned as he struggled to sit up. He spoke softly and it had the hint of pain within it. *
" y-yeah... c-can we head back to camp? "
* He mewed his words a little slurred from getting repeatedly hit in the head by Crowtooth. *
" My head hurts and I think I bit my tongue when you were hitting my head. Put up a good fight though, did I?"
* A small trickle of blood fell from his mouth. *
