Shadeclaw agreed. There was an almost worrying number of tripod cats, and a part of him wondered if it was related to the large number of predators around Thunderclan lately. He listens to Mudhound's explanation of Bumblestar being his sister. He didn't know, and it felt weird to hear someone call Thunderclan's leader 'little sister' or 'the runt'. 'Fiercest' suited her, but the rest of the words certainly did not. It was bemusing.

"Only my mother." Shadeclaw meows in response to Mudhound's question. And to be honest, he wasn't sure if she had any longer to live. Age was not kind to her, and she was frequently sick. She may not live past this moon. As for the rest of his family... his mother didn't talk about his father much, but he was likely a rogue, and his siblings were all stillborn.

"I don't have a big family. It sounds nice to have a sibling who's there for you." He feels a little jealous of Mudhound. He had a big family, one that cared about him, and one Mudhound himself cared about enough to go back for. Shadeclaw didn't really have that. He was always alone.

Shadeclaw finishes the lavender wreath. He's quicker at making these now. He starts on the third one, using mainly tulips this time, and threading in the white flowers. There aren't many of them since he's nearly used them up. He glances over at Mudhound to see how many they made.

"That one's for Redhawk, right?" He meows, changing the subject. He flicks his tail over at the one with roses that Mudhound was just working on. "Is she your mate, or?" He sounds genuinely curious. Shadeclaw, being shy and usually keeping to himself, didn't know all the names of the cats in camp, neither did he know their interpersonal relationships. Redhawk could be Mudhound's father, for all he knew.

The hornet was really lucky in the family life werent they? The tripod smiled, finishing up their second to last flower crown and moving on to the last one, pleased with their pile next to them. "It is nice but really Im more lucky with the family we've created then the one I was born into. I always loved large families and now its just me and Bumble-sis so that'd be sad but we got more because we've chosen to have more! Vivivivi is my sister by being partners with Bumblestar, Wolfhive is my nephew, Spider-dude is like the weird uncle kinda, and I consider Sprucejumper and Wolfpaw my kids though I dunno if they feel the same." They needed to have that conversation at some point.

"Honestly family is who you choose and can come from anywhere." and that fact was lovely.

Then though, ooooooooh then Shadeclaw landed on a capital T Topic.
"WHAT!!!! NO I- SHE- WE-" The tripod cut themselves off with a strangled noise, flushing bright red and burying their face in their paws, mumbling into it. "Sunset-bird- No Redhawk is my best friend, being in love with her would be totally inappropriate so said anything about being in love with her! We-we're just friends and not mates! T-th-that'd be....."

That'd be wonderful. It'd make Mudhound the happiest cat in the world but they were too scared of ruining the friendship to do anything about it. Except... Well the feelings were getting increasingly too big to hide obviously if others knew about them so maybe something would have to be done soon. Peaking out of their paws to look at the other warrior the giant maine coon hesitantly asked/

"W-why d-did you assume that by the way?"

So... was he right, or was he not? Shadeclaw is confused. You wouldn't normally turn a shade of red for a cat you didn't have any feelings for, would you? But if he was right, and Redhawk was indeed his mate, why would Mudhound lie? Either way, Shadeclaw decides it's not his place to try to figure out the love life of his elders.

"I just guessed." He meows plainly. "Roses are for love." Then he adds, "You were making that wreath most carefully." With a happy expression.

But his guess was wrong. It was peculiar. Shadeclaw wasn't very social, but he was sensitive. He could usually tell things like this. Today must not be his day.

....... ROSES WERE FOR LOVE??!?!?!?! OH BOY.
Mudhound was silent for a long moment, wide eyed and poleaxed by the new information, suddenly realizing they'd made a bit of a social blunder.

"I-I just chose sunset roses 'cus she looks like them kinda.... Y-yanno shes red and gold and orange like the flower so I gave her that nickname and w-was giving her this crown 'cus of that and just that. I-I didnt know that roses were........"
But was Shadeclaw entirely incorrect about his assumption? For all their denial Mudhound had been unable to deny their own feelings, though they'd tried simply to keep the easy peace of the current dynamics. Mudhound was head over heals for Redhawk, just kinda unable to say a word. But turns out their feels were actually obvious if even Shadeclaw who'd never interacted with either cat knew so why hide it?

Maybe it was time to think on confessing even if the thought sent Mudhound into a total tizzy and they for sure wanted some privacy for that little rabbit hole. All the more reason to bolt!

"No more thinking on all that! Looks like were both done with our crowns, guess its time to head back. Lets do this again sometimes Shadeclaw, see you later!"

And with that the tripod would gather their completed flower crowns and BOLT running like hell from any more potentially awkward conversations. They were honest in wanting to hang out again later however, juuuuust maybe after they figured out what to do about Redhawk and their feelings for her.

Shadeclaw tilts his head in confusion. He didn't understand why the older cat was panicking, or why he changed the subject, but he didn't mind. Shadeclaw had also finished all his wreaths, and he was well prepared to gift them to their respective cats. Part of him wonders if he'd said something wrong. He should be more careful next time.

He nods quietly and walks back to camp, unlike Mudhound who is basically running away at this point. He's in a good mood. As Mudhound meows farewell, he waves respectfully with his tail as well.
