Pinepaw padded up to Shockhoney, his heart pounding and racing in his chest. What if she said no? What if he let it slip that he had a massive crush on her? And if that happened, what if she didn't like him back? What if she hated him? He took a deep breath. Come on, Pinepaw. You've practiced this. he thought. Voice shaking, he spoke. "H-hey Kestrel- I mean, shockhoney. My bad. Would you like to... uh... hang out with me? I-I think you're pretty cool. M-maybe we could be friends?" he said. Pinepaw, you sounded like an idiot! He hummed anxiously.Hopefully she also wanted to be friends. "O-oh! That's right! Sproutfleck is my dad! H-he was your mentor, r-right?" he stammered.

She didn't quite recognize this apprentice - or, sure, she knew his name and had seen him around a couple times, but Shockhoney didn't know him on a personal level. So when she was approached by Pinepaw, who was asking to be her friend, the beige feline only blinked at him a couple times in surprise at first.

'Do I know you?' She wanted to ask, or 'I think you might have the wrong cat', she wanted to say, but after his mention of Mr. Fleck... he did have the right cat! "Sure!" She grinned at the other cat. If he knew all about her - which of course, he just had to, because everyone had to - then he was probably cool, she guessed. And... Mr. Fleck had a kid? Huh, how come he'd never told her? Anyway, he'd called her cool, and any little bit of praise usually went straight to Shockhoney's head, so... "What do you wanna do, then? Since we can't leave camp?"

Well. He'd planned for Shockhoeny to brush him off. He had not planned for her to actually want to be friends. Uhhh... Maybe we could..." he stammered. He had no idea what to do. Or what to say! Oh StarClan, what should I do? he wondered. "Maybe we can like... have a play-fight? Well, not a play-fight. Like a mock battle? Or maybe moss-ball. No, that's a kit game." he said, humming nervously. "Well, actually, Mr. Sprouts isn't my real dad. He adopted me. T-that's probably why you don't know me."

Shockhoney was too busy grinning ear to ear at Pinepaw's endearing display of nerves. Nervous, to talk to her?? Yeah! 'Cuz she was an important warrior! (That was definitely not it, but she didn't know that). Though... Pinepaw didn't seem that much younger than her. Only a... moon, maybe? Huh. Wait, what were they talking about again?

Mock battles, play fights, mossball games . . . Sproutfleck not really his dad-- "Oh." That made sense. "That's okay if he's not really your dad. It's like Wolfhive and Bumblestar! They're not real family, but Wolfhive still sees her as his Mum." She shrugged. "Anyway, we can do whatever. I don't mind!"

Pinepaw smiled awkwardly. He tapped his tail on the ground, humming nervously. "I g-guess it's kinda like Wolfhive and Bumblestar. They're just a lot more important." said the tom, rubbing his paw on the back of his neck sheepishly. Wait! He had a great idea for something they could do together!

"We could make leaf bracelets! You weave some plants together and then they make a bracelet! I'll show you how to make one!" he said with a grin, turning around quickly to grab some plants they could use. "Here! Take these!" he said, pushing some towards Shockhoney. He took his and waited for her.

Not as important? Huuuuh? "Hey, Mr. Fleck is important too!" The tan-furred feline started to argue, but Pinepaw had sufficiently distracted her with his next words. Leaf bracelets??? That was... new. Shockhoney watched with slight fascination as a bundle of leaves was shoved into her arms. Huh. "I have them." She said, holding onto the plants the apprentice had given her, turquoise eyes intently trained on him.

"What do I... what am I... how do we do this?"

What was he thinking when he said Mr. Sprouts wasn't important??? "My bad! Mr. Sprouts is really important, I got mixed up with my real parents." he said with a smile. Oh? Was she confused? He blushed a bit. She looked cute when she was watching him. Back on task, idiot! his brain scolded him. "I'll teach you!" he beamed.

"Ok! So first, ya gotta separate the vines. There should be two! You take one and drag it over the other, like so!" Pinepaw said, showing her the way the two strands overlapped. "Then, you do that over and over, until the whole thing is 'braided'! Make sure that you leave some room at the end, so we can do the next step." he said, sitting down with his tail curled around his paws as he waited.

After she finished, he hummed. "Alright! The last step is that you take one of the end strands and twirl it around your claw. And then you pinch the other end strand, and pull it through the loop you made! Then slip it onto your paw, and you're done! You can also slip some flowers in between the 'braids' so that it looks cool! And we match now! Friendship bracelets!" he grinned, purring and blushing a lot more than he should be. What if she suspected that he liked her? What if she didn't like him back? What if she hated him for it?

Shockhoney tried to copy Pinepaw's motions - really, she did. Key word, tried. Becuase her attempt was waaaay more sloppy and uneven and by the time Shockhoney had struggled with it and bullied it into submission, she offered Pinepaw a beaming smile and held up the fragile bracelet, only for it to crumble and break apart.

"Whoops." The turquoise-eyed feline said, voice and expression sheepish. She set the not-quite-a-bracelet down and patted it awkwardly. "Well, yours looks good. Yeah? Mines... could use a little pruning, I suppose."

Oh, her bracelet had broken. That was ok though! "I'll make you another one, don't worry! Here, we can make it together." Pinepaw said with a smile. Putting his paw on top of hers, he went through the motions of making it with her. After they were done, he slipped it onto her wrist. It looked really good! "You can put some flowers in it! And now we match!" said the tawny tom with a smile. He got up to walk closer to her, but ended up tripping on a stone and accidentally landing on Shockhoney. His muzzle was so close to hers, and as he looked into her turquoise eyes, he felt himself getting lost in them. He blinked, realizing he was blushing a lot. Quickly hopping off her, he began apologizing. "S-sorry, I tripped. I d-didn't mean to, I'm so sorry!" he said anxiously.

Shockhoney smiled with satisfaction as Pinepaw assisted her in recreating the vine... thing for her wrist. Tada! She'd done it! Well... kinda. Pinepaw had done most of it using her paw. "Look, it's so ni--" Shockhoney had barely turned in the tom's direction before she was tackled to the ground. An oomph of surprise left her as her back met the ground, and looking up at the offender was the equivalent of bright green eyes shockingly close.

Shockhoney blinked, startled as Pinepaw hopped off of her and began apologizing profusely. Uh oh, was he upset? Shockhoney didn't know how to deal with upset cats. "That's... that's fine..." Shockhoney sat up, lifting her paw to check on her bracelet. "Hey look, at least it didn't break." She cracked a lopsided smile.
