Mumble giggled at the cat's attempts to catch a bird, hoping he didn't notice. And as he began to lap at the shallow puddle, Mumble couldn't help but wrinkle their nose. Surely he wasn't desperate enough for dirty puddle water?
"Uh, I think we could find a stream, that would be much better." They suggested.

"A stream? What's a stream?" Fluffy spits the water out of his mouth anyway. Mumble was right; it tasted stale and weird. "Let's go!"

"Uhh, yea!... A stream is running water, but only a little bit of it..." Mumble explained, beginning to walk off towards where they could remember water was.
Upon coming to the trickling water, mumble purred, looking around and sniffing the air cautiously before crouching down to lap at the running water. Cold and delicious...

Fluffy copies him. The water is cold and fresh, he can taste the difference. It's so fresh that Fluffy dips both paws into the water. Then he sees something shimmery. Was that... a fish in the water?

[Fluffy rolls a 10]

He can't see very well, only the glint of scales in the sun. It's a minnow, small as a tooth. It wouldn't even fill his belly or be worth a bite to Fluffy. But there's not only small minnows traversing the stream in groups, there's also a minnow large as a paw. Fluffy can't see it well, but he experimentally throws himself into the water to bite down on it.

[Fluffy rolls an 18]

A catch. Fluffy feels his teeth sink into something substantial. It's a catch due to sheer luck, without any skill, but a catch is a catch. The fish flails around in his mouth and Fluffy accidentally drops it on the ground. It flops around, searching for the way back to the stream, bleeding. But it's not able to go back, for Fluffy has his paw on it. The fish soon loses its energy and lifelessly stays still.

"Mumble!" Fluffy squeals in excitement. "I found a fish! It's a big fish! Fish live in water!"

"Oh wow! amazing!" Mumble said, standing up and raising their tail. They were so proud of this!... kid... they just met... Huh? Well he just seemed so happy about his catch! They just had to be supportive of him!
Mumble gave a large smile, purring as they nodded in approval.

Fluffy doesn't care that he's barely known Mumble for a day.

"Let's eat together, Mumble!" He meows, proud to share his fish. He takes a small first bite, and mumbles, "It's good! Mumble, your turn!"

Fluffy pushes the fish over to Mumble, eyes shining. Looking as if he would be deeply disappointed if Mumble refuses.

Mumble went over, crouching down and taking a few bites, purring. They enjoyed having this food, even if it wasn't much.
"That is good, great catch." They purred with the prey in their mouth before pushing it back over to Fluffy.

This was the cat life. Fluffy piurrs again, and finishes the fish. There's only bones left now. Crunchy.

Fluffy yawns. He feels sleepy now that he's no longer hungry. And he feels like he forgot something... but what could it be? It is probably not important.

"Oh, you tired now?" Mumble smiled. "Well, we shouldn't sleep out in the open here... I've got a den if you want to come back with me. I don't want you to get hurt or anything..." Mumble offered to Fluffy.
Mumble knew that their den wasn't fully finished, and most likely wasn't big enough for two, but it would be better to sleep in a familiar, more enclosed space than out in the open by a stream.

And so, Mumble led Fluffy away from the area, deeper into the woods. Where they had decided to work on a little den. And hopefully they could rest there for a long while.
