Dusklion was calling a meeting. That wasn't a good sign; in her experience, it meant that their leader was gone. And enough leaders had passed through the position in her lifetime that was almost certain that it was the case.

And it was. Fadingstar was gone, his blood the only thing left to be found. Dead. Or not? Larkwing's blood had been found after her disappearance, and she had come back. But it didn't matter; the point was that Fadingstar was gone, and, if the talk she had heard around camp was true, he had run away. The question was if he had truely intended to leave the clan, or he had just gone to... clear his head or something before meeting his end.

She guessed she would never know. Oh well. Dusklion was RiverClan's leader now. She made promises, promises to be better than her brother, better than all the failed leaders before her. Irisfrost had heard these promises many times before; leaders rarely kept them. She just had to hope that Dusklion would, that she would lead RiverClan into glory. Just like she had hoped for all the leaders before. She was getting tired of this.

Although... Dusklion- Stormstar had been accepted by StarClan. She had received a life; not nine, but she didn't think their ancestors would give any leader nine anymore. That had to prove something. Yes, Fadingstar had gotten his name, but he'd never said anything about a life. The stars must be supporting her. Of course, Stormstar might be lying, but she would trust her on that.

Berryshine had gotten her full name too. "Stormstar! Berryshine!" Irisfrost cheered with the crowd, before quieting to hear the new leader's next announcement.

Stormstar was cutting Rugged Range and Haven Springs out of RiverClan's territory. Her choice made sense- those areas were prey-poor- but it still rubbed Irisfrost's fur the wrong way. RiverClan had held those areas for as long as she could remember. She didn't like just dumping them, throwing away the history of those places. But she didn't dislike the change enough to speak up. They would claim new territory, territory hopefully richer in prey.

A new deputy, Owtalon. "Owtalon! Owltalon!" Irisfrost chanted approvingly. The she-cat had been a good, reliable Lionheart. Hopefully she would retain those qualities in her new role.

Seabreeze was stepping down, Rowanmane was stepping up, and Brokenstream was becoming Head Lionheart. Then a reminder that there were still spots open on the team. She used to want the position, but Irisfrost wasn't sure. It would be a honour, but the thought brung back painful memories of her brother. Would she really like to do her duties, knowing that she was only a Lionheart because Bearsnout had gone missing died?

Irisfrost pushed down the grief swirling in her stomach. She had managed to repress it so far; she couldn't let it flare up again. Gritting her teeth, Irisfrost turnd her attention back to Stormstar again. New apprentices. Some were four moons; why were they four moons? She didn't like this, underaged apprentices. But then, the warrior code said that kits could be made apprentices when they had fulfilled the clan requirements. This wasn't breaking the code. But still, it felt wrong.

It didn't matter. Irisfrost would accept it. The new apprentices should be safe; she didn't think their mentors would send them into battle or teach them any moves (except maybe some defensive ones) until they were old enough.

Cobwebfern was the new medicine cat apprentice. That meant all four high ranks had been announced; was that the first time it had happened? Sure, there had only been a singular high rank before, but they usually took their time announcing the others. "Cobwebfern! Cobwebfern!" she shouted for the third time that day.

A purr rumbled in his throat as he touched his nose to Floodsight’s cheek in thanks. ”I’ll call for you if I’m ever drowning, physically or metaphorically.” He laughed. Dropping his voice down to more of a whisper so he wouldn’t get scolded by Stormstar the same way he had just scolded Rainpaw and Riftpaw for talking, he mewed ”Speaking of…what say you to a little fishing competition after this? Like the old days? I think with my newfound title, I’ll have enough good luck to beat you today.” Mischief twinkled in the tom’s eyes, eager to see if this would be the time Floodsight would have to admit defeat.

Stormstar, a fitting name as ever. Larkwing couldn't help but wonder to herself why StarClan had deemed fit to change it, though that was hardly her business. And Owltalon as her deputy? A nice choice. And the clan, as a whole, seemed to agree with that. It was... odd to see RiverClan so unified, Larkwing had only ever known them to scoff and scorn those in their high ranks, so witnessing this now felt a little... well, it made her a little uneasy.

The jealousy that fact causes is unwelcome and unwanted, so she shoves it down. She's supposed to be happy for the deputy! She's supposed to be happy that, for the first time in her life, RiverClan seems united behind their leadership... she shouldn't be bitter they weren't happy with her. But she is.

There's new Lionhearts, Brokenstream at the head, and Rowanmane. Nice choices. And, Berryshine was ready for an apprentice? Larkwing can't help her surprise at the fact that she's already looking to train someone new, but... it'll be good for her to have help, at least. Cobwebfern is a great choice - the only choice - and Larkwing hopes she'll do well. She cheers, as she's done for everyone so far. Next up, apprentice ceremonies. Larkwing remembers her first time announcing the beginning of a young cat's journey to warriorhood. It's not something she's going to forget any time soon. Similarly, she won't forget the only warrior she ever named. Partly because he's been stuck to her side like a pesky clump of burrs, and partly because of the occasion itself.

The black and white tom hung out near the back of the meeting, careful not to get too close to any cat. That didn't stop him from joining in the chanting, though. "Stormstar! Berryshine! Owltalon! Cobwebfern!" It was nice to feel unified once again. He hoped it was more permanent than under Fadingstar's rule.

Sedgeflake nodded in agreement at dumbing the range and springs, and was glad he'd stolen Redmire for a last minute excursion before the move. It wasn't home, never would be to him - but he guessed some cats wouldn't remember anything before Larkwing's leadership.

Being here... this new camp, it was a relief. As Stormstar spoke he found himself leaning into her words, ears perked. A new deputy, Owltalon. Sedgeflake ...well, okay, he knew she made a mistake recently but at least she hadn't dug her grave like Goldfish had. As long as she didn't grind his fur he didn't have any complaints there. "Owltalon! Owltalon!" Some chatty apprentices later, and they were onto Lionhearts. A shame about Seabreeze but not surprising... Sedgeflake hadn't seen him around too much anymore. "Rowanmane! Brokenstream!" Sedgeflake flashed a grin in Rowanmane's direction, though he suspected it'd be miss among the masses. That was fine.. he was just glad someone he knew to be reasonable was on board.

To-be apprentices, and now a medicine cat apprentice. It'd been ages since the ranks were filled out so quickly, and Sedgeflake hoped this rapid-pace was a new start to a successful RiverClan. "Cobwebfern! Cobwebfern!"

Rainpaw smiled brightly at Riftpaw and nodded. The little scowl on his face was so cute. He wears his heart on his fur doesn’t he? It was no wonder that Riftpaw was jealous of Brokenstream, he spent so much time with Raven, and she doted on him so much. She blinked with surprise when Stormstar spoke, ducking down with embarrassment. Again! She managed to embarrass herself with her leader again! Am I doomed to never redeem myself? She mentally sobbed at the prospect. First was the incident with the herbs with Fadingstar, and now this. How could it be that she was always so cautious with the rules, and yet continued to make these mistakes? She didn’t need to look up at Brokenstream, she only nodded meagerly at Stormstar.

Rainpaw shot Riftpaw an apologetic look, before turning her eyes back to the meeting. They’d have to make plans later. Maybe if Stormstar reassigns me a mentor during this meeting, I can ask them about doing a swimming lesson with Riftpaw? Well, Raven and Riftpaw of course. Unless Raven didn’t want to come, it’s entirely possible she took care of her swimming lessons with Redmire already. Her eyes widened at the new announcements. She chanted the names of her clanmates, eyes shining. So much pleasant news! She looked at Stormstar with hopeful eyes. If she was appointing mentors to new apprentices, maybe she’d be reassigned a mentor now after all?

Ravenpaw stiffened when Stormstar pointed out Rainpaw and Riftpaw’s chattering, glancing at her sister with concern. She knew she’d beat herself up more than necessary, and saw that she was right. But regardless, Ravenpaw was just grateful that she wasn’t on the receiving end of Brokenstream’s stern look. Her eyes widened at the rest of the news. Brokenstream was the new head of the Lionhearts?! Ravenpaw turned her eyes to him, her gazing shining with admiration.

She cheered the names of her newly promoted clanmates before looking back at Brokenstream. It took her a minute to regain her composure before she grinned with a challenge. “I’ll catch up before you know it!” She meowed in response.

Ah so there was a spot open for the Lionhearts. Adderstrike pondered if she would make it. She had worked for so long maybe Stormstar would see her fit for the spot. Oh Cobwebfern! "Cobwebfern!" Adderstrike cheered out happily before frowning a little. She tried to make friends with that cat but it always seemed like she was given the cold shoulder. She let out a sigh and shrugged it off. Maybe it was just a coincidence.

Well there was other matters at hand. Adderstrike looked to Stormkit. Hm, well she was going to have to do this now before Stormstar got upset at them. "Stormkit!" Adderstrike said into the kits ear at a sharp tone. She wouldn't have done this unless she suspected them of being deaf. If they didn't whine then well, she was right.

Stormkit wouldn't even register the sound whatsoever in fact he just continued looking forward at the cat who everyone seemed to be paying attention to that cat being Stormstar of course. But Stormkit didn't know this and instead just watched aimlessly trying to piece together what was happening in fact the grey kit didn't even realize his name had been called especially since he hadn't learned how to read lips or even use sign language or anything. Not that these things seemed to bother Stormkit he didn't see anything wrong with it and instead just continued life as usual. @Fish @Dolomedes

Adderstrike wouldn't lie, there was a strong urge to pick up Stormkit and bring him over to the skyridge but he was being made an apprentice. So instead of taking his pride away Adderstrike gave Stormkit a bump with her head, a smile and started to walk in front of the crowd. She motioned her tail to have the kit follow her. Once Stormkit made his way over, she sat down back with the group and smiled to him. The kid had to be deaf, there was no other way a kit would accept a loud noise in their ear like that, not without a single reaction. Even a kit trying to be tough would move their ear a bit, it was just natural. Then a thought came to her mind, maybe the medicine cats would have an idea what to do. Well there was no herb that could heal the deaf but maybe the medcats knew something that could help the kit live in the clan despite being deaf. Talking was very important... Didn't Primrosepaw say something with paw motions? She shook her head to clear her head from the thoughts buzzing in her mind. This could all be figured out after the meeting, Adderstrike didn't want to miss anything super important and this wasn't a medical emergency after all.
