Floodsight
✦ RiverClan | 21 moons | Mind Reader ; Beefed Up T1 ; empty slot

Floodsight let herself cheer for the two. Stormstar and Berryshine! Both suiting the holder and the latter, in particular, was an adorable name fitting for the new medicine cat. Their cheering was loud and she could tell RiverClan was proud. After many moons of dreaded meetings and announcements, this was probably the most positive one and it makes Floodsight almost feel hopeful for the future.

That's when Waspmeadow shot awake asking for what happened. A lot. A lot just happened and she could see her friend;s dazed confusion. The silver molly smiled, "Dusklion and Berrypaw are back. Now as leader and medicine cat, they're called Stormstar and Berryshine."

"Stormstar had just named this rock, Skyridge, it'll be our meeting place from now on. And...she mentioned she'd only gotten an extra life from StarClan."
Floodsight continued but her voice became quieter with a hint of confusion. 'Was StarClan always like that?'

Fishpaw stood there, still in shock from everything, berrypaw became medicine cat, and dusklion is now stormstar? everything happened so quick. Fishpaw couldn't take much, especially with her well being, and a new leader was definitely in the well being books, fadingstar was actually so nice, fishpaw loved him, but now she didn't comprehend a new leader, she would have to gain their trust, and that will be hard. Fishpaw wanted to ask a question, but wanted to word it as non rude as possible. "Dusklio- i mean stormstar, will you be a good leader for our clan? follow in your brother's foot steps?" fishpaw took a breath then sat down, she was exhausted just from speaking.

Default Re: RiverClan Skyridge

Weepingwind
short-furred, sleek, dark smoky-gray molly with creamy tan accents and dark green eyes.
purrks: n/a
she/her | riverclan warrior | 30 moons

It wasn't hard for the dark-furred molly to not feel at least a little displeased that no one decided to make their way over to try to start up a conversation. Then again, it was understandable why no one did; everyone wanted to hear what Dusklion—or Duskstar—had to say. But that still didn't mean that it wasn't a little disheartening to be all alone without anyone to chatter with. All it did was make her feel a little bit lonely about it. Exhaling a sigh through her nostrils, Weepingwind glanced around the gathered cats, sweeping thoroughly through them to see if anyone, in particular, would stand out. It wasn't hard for her to hear the quiet murmurs among others about how their day was currently going or their attention being drawn on the transition of leadership. It was a momentous day, after all. But among the busy chatter and arrival of clan-mates, one stood out. Her eyes rested on the hunched form of Smolderpaw, Weepingwind easily taking note of how practically depressed the young apprentice seemed to be. She had to suspect it was something related to Fadingsun—perhaps they were close in relation to one or another. Weepingwind’s ears twitched as she noticed Primrosepaw sitting beside him, offering some words of comfort, but the warrior wasn't certain if Smolderpaw was hearing any of it. There was something about the way he looked, the way his blue eyes flickered with pain, that tugged at something in her chest. She didn’t know him well, but she recognized that look—loneliness mixed with anger, with sadness. It was how she felt when her sister left the clan moons ago.

For a moment, she hesitated. Did she really want to get involved? She wasn’t the comforting type, and emotions like that made her uncomfortable, but she couldn’t just leave him there. Not with that look in his eyes. With a soft sigh, Weepingwind steeled herself and padded over, being careful to watch her step for if she were to accidentally step on a clan-mate’s tail or paw. As she approached, she gave Primrosepaw a quick nod of acknowledgement, her dark green eyes flicking toward the young molly before resting on Smolderpaw once again, an attempt at a comforting smile creeping onto her lips. “Hey, kid,” she greeted, her voice low but not unkind. Even if she didn’t know him all that well, there was a softness in her tone that showed she wasn’t here to prod or push him. She flicked her tail behind her, giving him space, but also making it clear that she was present, if he needed it. Her gaze shifted to Primrosepaw again, acknowledging her efforts before returning to Smolderpaw. “Mind if I sit?” She didn’t wait for an answer, settling down beside them with a stretch, her long, sleek limbs unfurling as she shook out her pelt. She couldn't help but feel the awkwardness of getting herself into this conversation getting to the best of her, her paws silently kneading against the soft sand as she formulated another set of words for the grief-stricken apprentice beside herself. “It’s been one of those days, hasn’t it?” Weepingwind murmured, her voice carrying a hint of the same quiet weight she sensed in the tom.

She wasn’t going to pry, wasn’t going to ask questions, but she hoped her presence seemed like an offering. A reminder that he wasn’t alone, even if words couldn’t fix everything that happened with Fadingsun. Before she could hear anything that either Primrosepaw or Smolderpaw had to say, her gaze immediately trailed upwards towards Dusklion as she listened to the new leader beginning to speak, a respectful silence drawing over her as her dark tail placed itself promptly over her paws. Changing the name of their meeting place was undoubtedly a good idea on Dusklion’s part—it gave the molly an inadequate feeling in her gut from the horrible flood that ruined their old camp. Why was it even named after it anyways? She couldn't recall which leader decided to rename the meeting place that far too many leaders had come and gone, and it was growing frustratingly draining for Weepingwind to keep count of who was the last leader and whatnot. Her thoughts sidetracked as she took in the name that Dusklion mentioned—Skyridge. It wasn't anything that Weepingwind or anyone gradually expected, but what else was there? Thinking about it, she found it to actually fit the way the new meeting place looked, even if the name sounded like something WindClan would come up with. It had a nice ring to it, like the new leader had stated herself. It was a way to represent their way to a journey of change and regrowth. Just to show her own approval, she nodded subtly and gave a small grin to replicate Dusklion’s own. A little cheeky, but did she care at the moment?

Seeing the grin disappear off the leader’s face instinctively made Weepingwind’s own falter, her expression heightening to listen to the next set of news that the new leader needed to say. The mention of Fadingsun made the smoky-gray feline tense up, glancing briefly toward the apprentice next to herself as she eyed him carefully to see how he was going to process the news. Most of what she was hearing coming out of the leader’s mouth seemed to be stating that the former leader was dead. Not that Weepingwind was one to be pleased about it or anything, but she couldn't comprehend how Smolderpaw must be feeling at the given moment. She didn't want to do anything that would further upset him, but the molly only briefly guided her tail over towards him as a small gesture of comfort. It wasn't anything too mind-blowing, but she hoped he would take it for granted that she was just trying to help him out. Hell, she could even see the grief flicker in Dusklion’s eyes that this is hurting her just as bad. The two were close if she recalled correctly, so Fadingsun’s disappearance hurt her just as bad as it was potentially hurting Smolderpaw, and she didn't even know how the young tom viewed the former leader as. Most of what she thought of was that she viewed him as a father, and only that just made Weepingwind feel worse about the whole situation. The poor kid didn't deserve this happening to him—no one did.

To hopefully shove off the complicated emotions tugging at her chest, the warrior listened to the next set of news that Dusklion decided to speak about, only making Weepingwind give off a slight frown. The way she spoke of change rubbed off the dark-furred feline the wrong way, but she didn't want to focus her attention on it. Perhaps it was the fact that so many leaders before said the same thing and it only led to RiverClan’s greater downfall. She didn't know, but another part of her wanted to maintain hope for what her new leader was speaking about. At least for the most part, the new leader wanted to hear opinions coming from her clan-mates if she was leading the clan right after all, or about anything that the Lionhearts may be doing wrong. It gave some sort of hope for Weepingwind that Dusklion wouldn't become any of the cats that failed RiverClan before her. If she did, then Weepingwind would just feel less hopeful for this clan to actually get its act together. Change was needed, and she wasn't going to be standing there and pretend like it didn't need it. Many cats spoke of bringing change, yet nothing happened. But, there was something about Dusklion—perhaps it was her willingness to admit her brother’s faults, her refusal to promise greatness, or the simple fact that she left her den open for anyone to speak their mind—that made Weepingwind want to believe, even if only a little. The idea that she might actually listen to her clan-mates was a refreshing change of pace. Most leaders claimed to listen, but few truly did, Fadingsun being one of those cats.

Shaking her head, Weepingwind decided to listen in for the fact of what the next set of news was, hearing what her new leader’s name was finally after all the time that she spent waiting to hear it. Stormstar. It was beyond anything that Weepingwind expected, as she honestly half-expected the molly to be named Duskstar, but Stormstar sounded better coming off the tongue. The name had a strength to it—a sense of resilience that RiverClan desperately needed. Maybe, just maybe, it was a sign of something new and hopeful on the horizon. A storm could be destructive, but it also brought renewal, washing away the old and clearing a path for something fresh to grow. Perhaps Stormstar would be the one to do that for RiverClan. She could bring a change that no other leader had before. It brought her some sort of tranquility that Stormstar wasn’t promising greatness like so many leaders had before. She wasn’t standing up there with false pride or bravado. Instead, she was grounding herself in reality, speaking of earning lives and the importance of trusting one another. It was a refreshing change from the hollow words that Weepingwind had grown so tired of hearing. Still, the admission of only having two lives sent a chill down Weepingwind’s spine. Two lives. It wasn’t just a symbol of leadership; it was a reminder of how fragile their position really was. If word really got out to the other clans out of stupidity, RiverClan would be in serious danger. That wasn't something that the dark-furred feline wanted to risk in the slightest.

Hearing that Berryshine proved herself to be their full medicine cat by StarClan themselves seemed to be one of the more light-hearted news to be tossed amongst them. She was one of the medicine cats that was actually trying to stick around and do commitment for the clan, and a cat actually putting pride into her work. Stormstar being proud of her was a good thing, as Berryshine deserved this name and recognition from all her hard work. Weepingwind casted a large, crooked grin towards the newly named medic, nodding in acknowledgement towards her direction. She deserved this, both she and Stormstar. As the chants began starting, Weepingwind joined them after, calling both the new leader and medicine cat loud and proud. “Stormstar! Berryshine! Stormstar! Berryshine!” She knew her vocal cords would absolutely hate her after using them to call out the new leader and medicine cat, but did she care? No. It was about time RiverClan was getting some high ranks who actually cared and put pride and effort into their work.

Smolderpaw
Riverclan
He/him
Post Count: 9/100

Initially, Smolderpaw ignored the apprentice that had appeared at his side, because her kind offer caused his stomach to twist and his eyes to prickle with unshed tears. He had never felt such strong emotion, not ever in his life–not even when momma left him and his sisters all on their lonesome. He was too little to understand what had happened, but he knew now–she had left them behind, and Fadingstar–sun, at that point–had taken them in.

But he is gone now.

“Just wish things were different right now.” He finally managed to mumble, words quiet, scared that if he spoke too loud, he would just cry.

Then, someone else had arrived, too. Someone he didn’t know very well, if at all. Usually he’d have greeted them with a lopsided grin, but now? No. He couldn’t even muster up the courage to think of that. Instead, he just shifted a tad closer to Primrosepaw in an attempt to close himself off. Not that he knew Primrosepaw any better than he knew Weepingwind, but he knew the prior simply by sharing a den with her. As the warrior sat and spoke, he just hunched over, digging his claws into the ground below. “...Mhm, yeah.”

Skyridge. The name barely whisked past his ears for him to register it completely. However, his head shot up at the mention of Fadingstar, eyes wide with a sudden hope–no, desperation. Misplaced desperation, unfortunately. The tom practically crumpled in his spot, somehow managing to slouch even lower than he was before, ears flat against his head. Even more-so now than ever, even with a pair of cats by his side expressing their worry, he still felt alone. More alone than ever.

A sigh escaped him as the meeting continued. Afraid of the way that his voice would fall away if he tried to congratulate Stormstar and Berryshine, so instead he opted to thumping his tail against the ground.

Rivergaze
He/Him | 23Moons | RC Warrior

Rivergaze feels his fur bristle briefly, and he takes a moment to get a good shake in before The warrior tilts his head, following in suit chanting with the rest of his fellow clanmates and Stormstar. Everything felt like it was going by so fast, but at the same time, he can't complain.

Talonpaw
╚══════ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══════╝

Talonpaw pads to the back of the gathered cats to take a seat just as Stormstar starts her announcements. The names are no surprise, the leader had told him about her name change as well as Berryshine's full name when she found him at the border. He holds his tongue at Stormstar's words about her den being open and proving it to them with action. Normally Talonpaw speaks out at these moments, but he remembers Stormstar's words when she said she looked for him. Somehow, he believes her, and the fact that someone cared stirs a feeling in his chest that he can't place.

And Berryshine is deserving of the cheer he gives when her name is announced. She did not fail where the others did, and Talonpaw is impressed. Older cats buckled under the pressure, but Berryshine didn't and he owes her that much.

She/Her | Purrk(s): Just A Scratch

Dusklion's return from the... Starcave was what initially stopped Wisteriawren's restless, relentless pacing. Her friend had just up and... left. Alone, with only Berrypaw at her side. Those two were RiverClan's only current guidance. With Fadingstar... missing, a small part of her feared that the same curse would befall Dusklion or Berrypaw. Okay, that was a lie. A very big, very concerned part of her worried as such.

Settling down in an empty spot, tail coiled over her paws to hide the non-stop anxious kneading her paws were doing to the ground, the classic tabby exhaled slowly. They were back, they were okay. Dusklion and Berrypaw were back. . . or, as she'd heard the whispers going around, they were supposed to be Duskstar and Berry... whatever the soon-to-be Medicine Cat's name was. She realized after a moment that she'd sat down beside someone random without noticing - and worse - without permission. "Oh, was anyone sitting here? I could... move if someone was..." The former kittypet trailed off awkwardly, offering her companion a pained smile.

That was when Dusklion began talking, and then Wisteriawren became sufficiently distracted. Floodstone? Renamed? Skyridge. It sounded... different, she supposed. Wisteriawren could say that perhaps it was indeed better than what Floodstone entailed. And then... oh. Fadingstar. Wisteriawren had refused to think about it thus far, had refused to let her mind stray there because of the way it made her heart clench with pain. She didn't... She wasn't ready to face that truth yet.

The rest of Dusklion's talk about Fadingstar... Fadingsun..? was painful, to say the least. Wisteriawren wanted to burrow into the ground and never come up again. At the end of the day, it was her own heart betraying her at every turn. Dusklion was doing what was best for RiverClan, and Wisteriawren had no qualms with that, but it still hurt.

Tucking it all away for further examination later (that can of worms could wait for a while) when the next news came around, the stocky grey she-cat found other things to find joy in. And a helping of surprise, too. Stormstar. And Berryshine. New names. They’d both gotten new names. For a moment, Wisteriawren forgot all about her troubles. They were minor in the face of this, anyhow.

And for these two? If Wisteriawren could, she’d move mountains. For once, she didn’t have to force the bright, beaming smile that spread over her face, followed by a small, delighted laugh. “Stormstar!” She called, if only for the sake of seeing the new leader smile. The name suited her best friend more than Duskstar ever would. “Berryshine!!!” The young molly had done it. She was a full Medicine Cat. She’d pushed through. That in itself was a feat Wisteriawren could applaud. All in all, she hadn’t raised her voice in a while, so it was a tad hoarse, but look… she wasn’t not going to cheer for her best friend and the Clan’s Medic. If she had always been so intent on seeing a happy Clan, why would she not provide towards that happiness.

Well darn. It seemed that Ravenpaw’s description of Riftpaw was spot on. He was a tough nut to crack. She gave a light shrug in response. “Not bad.” She responded, shuffling her paws nervously. As much as she wanted Riftpaw to open up, she knew that there were things even she didn’t quite want to open up about…like how she hadn’t had a formal training session with her mentor yet. “What’s your favorite part?” She asked, looking at Riftpaw hopefully. “I’m most excited about hunting. I don’t…I don’t really like the idea of fighting.”

[ @korok - Riftpaw & Brokenstream]

“Good!” Ravenpaw huffed, ducking slightly but allowing the paw to graze over her ears. The mostly black apprentice laughed with joy, but kept her voice low enough so as to not disturb others. She followed Brokenstream’s gaze and puffed out her chest. “Maybe she’ll promote me right to deputy now!” She joked, puffing her chest out. But of course, Ravenpaw expected no such thing. She nodded towards her sister.

Then the leader made her announcements. “Stormstar! Stormstar! Berryshine! Berryshine!” How cool! She could hear her sister cheering with everything she had too. It felt like a weight was lifted from her mind, like stability was coming at last. And it also made her wistful for her own warrior name…whenever that will be.

Rivergaze
He/Him | 23Moons | RC Warrior

The tom perks up and looks over to his side, taking immediate notice of Wisteriawren as she sits. He shakes his head and quickly moves his long tail aside in conscious attempt to politely give her some space. "oh! no no. That spot was empty so I'm happy you found it" he meows sincerely, offering her a reassuring smile in return for her pained one.
He looks forward and seems to quiet down for a moment, though his attempt to leave her alone cracks when Wisteriawren cheers for Berryshine and Stormstar. Unable to help himself, Rivergaze tilts his head down towards her in a hushed manner. "This is quite exciting news, hm? Berryshine and Stormstar have worked so hard, Riverclan is surely looking up towards a better future with those two" He adds. He wasn't sure if the she-cat was interested in a chat, but the warrior couldn't pass the chance to voice his admiration for the Medicine cat and Leader.
