Frozenkit turned her attention toward Blizzardoak at the sound of his voice, she flattened her ears but then her ears perked up at Shallowkit's voice. He's standing up to me? she thought.

Shiveringkit laughed at Blizzardoak, but when Shallowkit started to stand up for Frozenkit, she let out a hiss. "You know she won't be able to become a warrior! A bird should just take her! Also seems like her mama didn't want her anyway or her father!" she hissed. Shiveringkit didnt have a father or a mother either but that was probably because of different reasons. She then turned and looked at Blizzardoak. "Blizzardoak! Shallowkit is being mean!"

As the kits quarreled with one another Blizzardoaks laughter and expressions changed slowly. As Shiveringkit tried to pin the blame on Shallowkit in true childlike fashion the veteran gave her a very stern look. "Shiveringkit!" The tom let his voice boom with an aura of command. "We do NOT wish harm on our fellow clanmates. You are much too young to be guessing what Frozenkit can or cannot do." He paused thoughtfully adding, Or are you suggesting you have done something useful for the clan lately?" He allowed this last comment to come through with a hint of accusation in his tone. "I want an answer," Blizzardoak pressed. The tomcat was more than a little bothered by Shiveringkits behavior, even if she was still young. That was not the warriors way of thinking, at least not any way he condoned.

Shallowkit was about to yell at Shiveringkit again when Blizzardoak spoke up. He slammed his maw shut and nodded occasionally at Blizzardoak's lecture.

When he was done, Shallowkit yelled, "Yeah! All you're doing is being mean to Frozenkit. Y'know, she could be the next medicine cat! Or maybe even the best warrior in Riverclan! So shut up-" He paused and cringed at telling Shiveringkit to shut up in front of an elder. "Sorry." He apologized but it was more directed at Blizzardoak.

Shiveringkit's ears flattened to the back of her head, she knew it was wrong but Frozenkit got all the attention and it wasn't far. "I'm sorry, Blizzardoak...sorry Shallowkit." she meowed softly Her eyes started to water with tears.

Frozenkit listened as the two defended her. But Shiveringkit was right, what could she do? she was useless in everyday possible for the clan.

Spiraltail looked down at the kit with a nervous sweat heh this kid really was asking a lot of questions he looked over at RainSong she was a sweet cat one who was genuine though he stood there looking at her would he ever be ready for another relationship..he wasn't sure yet. Taking a breath he looked back down at the kit his eyes glinting in the light "I think your mom is a nice cat who is considerate so yes you could say I like her" he hoped the kit wouldn't think too much on it though he knew with his luck it may turn into something.

Rainsong looked at Spiraltail and blushed, she looked away so he wouldn't see her blushing. He liked her? she thought but didnt want to push him so she kept her mouth shut and watched Bluekit jump on his leg.

Bluekit purred happily, and jumped on his leg. "Yay!" she squeal happily. "A new dad!" she giggled as she looked up at him with bright blue eyes. "Can you teach me to fight when I'm older?" she asked.

Russetkit was flopped in the corner of the twoleg nest, batting at the dust that whirled through a sunbeam. He didn't think he had ever been so bored before. Daydreaming about all the daring things he would do when he became a warrior occupied all his thoughts. What if he fought off predators or saved the Clan or even... in the far, faraway future, became the leader of RiverClan! A shiver went through him from nose to tail-tip at the very idea.

Frozenkit sat down on the far side of the clearing away from everyone else, her tiny ears moved back and forth. Her silver blind eyes just stared ahead at nothing.

Listening to Dusklion's words, his first instincts were to snap back. To argue that of course he didn't bring up the cats who died in the 3v1; why would he want to give the other Clans the satisfaction of knowing?

But as he listened, he thought about how things had been between them. How there'd been so much arguing, so much intensity, so much animosity. He was tired, to put it simply. Tired of this back-and-forth, tired of always being at each others' throats. He wanted them to be a team again.

The stiffness of his posture sagged some as she finished speaking. His way of leading had kept their Clan safe, but it had also seemingly made cats miserable. He wouldn't say that he'd done everything wrong- there were definitely plenty of times when he'd been in the right. But maybe Dusklion was right in that something had to change.

"I didn't mention the cats who died in the 3v1 because I didn't want the other Clans to have the satisfaction of knowing who they killed. I didn't want to look at the other leaders and see no remorse for the children that died because of their warriors. I didn't do it to try to dishonor them, but because I wanted to... protect their memory, I guess. I didn't want their names to be brought up the next time someone from those Clans wanted to mock us or remind us of what they did.

"As for the other cat, yeah, that's on me, and you're right to be annoyed with me for it. I don't think either of us were in the right; you shouldn't have thrown their body down a mountain, and I should've paid more attention to making sure their name was said. I need to pay more attention to what's being said at Gatherings, and I'm going to fix that."

He paused for a moment. "I think... I think maybe you are right that I've been too hard on our Clan about some things. I'm just terrified that we're going to get driven out again. That if we make another mistake, or if the other Clans decide that they actually do want our territory, or something else... Stars, I don't want more kids to die, Dusklion. Seeing that, seeing what happened to Cobwebfern, to Berrypaw, knowing that a whole generation of our kids has to grow up with their earliest memories of screaming and blood? I don't want that again.

"But... I don't want to keep going like this. I'm tired of everyone always being mad at each other, I'm tired of us being at each other's throats over so much. You're a great deputy, Dusklion, and I want to go back to being an actual team instead of just two cats who are constantly upset with each other. As for the execution stuff, can you please explain to me why you think I'm going to kill someone over something small? I'm feeling a lot like we're misaligned here, and I'd like to fix that.

"I want to protect this Clan and keep them from getting pushed out again, but I also want to try to find a different way forward. What do you suggest?"
