Bleedingpaw
Shadowclan Apprentice | He/Him | 7 Moons
Just a Scratch | Shadow Fiend

Maybe Bleedingpaw should be kinda insulted his forever nickname was about his disability but the tom knew damn well what he was and was not fussed. Miss Tiger seemed pleased with him after all, that mattered more then if his nickname was technically kinda mean. As he recalled Dawnstar didnt like his actual name much either.

The bengal nodded, poking a pelt at the edge of the leaders nest curious at who it might have once belonged to. "I didnt expected it either and I do still have to work super hard, like covering my fur because its too visible and hiding my scent and stuff. But I think my wobbles kinda help? When I do make sounds when sneaking I dont sound like a cat walking or even anything because my steps are so scattered so its always chocked up to random forest noises." Bleedingpaw had baffled both Brairsplash and lots of prey which had all been so focused on listening for approaching cat steps they'd missed his. Plus his bendy little self had been able to wiggle through tight gaps that cats with normal joints couldnt. Funny that.

On the matter of other training the lithe tom nodded vigorously with a large grin, declaring a determined. "Im gonna be one of the best warriors like my Mama and sister so being an enforcer would be really great! And I know I probably wont be the best at any one thing because of my wobbles but I can be good at lotsa stuff instead! Diverse skills~" An actually achievable goal rather then being obsessed with fighting skills Bleedingpaw would at best be a smidge better then average at.

On the topic of Lostspark the pretty tom seemed a little less sure about Dawnstars advice, but listened regardless, taking it in. Really the apprentice was mostly just.... worried that his mother was truely busy and him looking for her attention would take it away from someone more important. Which was stupid and mostly a thought born of Bleedingpaws poor self esteem and worry over becoming an unwanted burden.

But the leader did know better then little old him so the tom absorbed it and nodded, deciding she was right and he needed to get back to his tasks and maaaaaybe add 'poke Lostspark' to the list.

"Ok Miss Dawnstar! Ill come back later, maybe after the kittens are born and you have more time. And if you need a kitten sitter to play with them you cab call on me! I love playing with kittens!"
With that the apprentice was off, not wanting to overstay his welcome and wobbled his way out of the leaders den to whatever the rest of his day held.

HE/HIM | PURRKS: MIND READER, SHADOW FIEND, KITTY SOFTPAWS T1 | DEMIROMANTIC | 30 MOONS
Foggymask padded up to the entrance of Dawnstar's den. Shrewstep wasn't active around the clan, not nearly enough as an Enforcer should. Plus, he didn't take his duty seriously. Foggymask could do so much better, and he could easily take the smaller warrior in a duel.

"Dawnstar? I would like to speak to you about Shrewstep." he meowed. He wasn't going to just make what he wanted vague, he would go straight to the point.

[Hawkbite]
Enforcer Commander
Shadow Fiend | Agatha Kitty | Kitty Softpaws T2

Hawkbite's blood splattered body padded into the Leader's Den. If any of this was his blood, it was very little of it. Most of the blood rested on his chest and face, although his paws were stained, but the marsh had cleaned off a majority of that. He also reeked of herbs, having come from the Medicine Cat den, so together, it wasn't pleasant. He wasn't a fan, but this needed to be reported. He'd have to get some warriors on reinforcing the camp walls.

"Dawnstar," Hawkbite breifly greeted the leader, his eyes adjusting to the darkness of the den quickly. The rising sun reaching it's way into the den helped this. "Fishkit escaped the camp last night. Nightshiver came and got me when she noticed it, but Fishkit escaped while she was sleeping. It appeared to be a gap in the camp wall, because I didn't see her when I was guarding the entrance," Hawkbite began, sitting down. "Fishkit was attacked by a fox and injured pretty severely, Nightshiver jumped into the fight, but she was hurt pretty bad too. I killed the fox and they're both resting in the medicine cat den. I made sure Mossfreckle had help if he needed it before I came here."

❦ Lostspark’s greyish pink nose touched Mossfreckle’s shoulder, a lingering warmth that sent his freckled pelt rippling with the anxiety pent up within his veins as fiery adrenaline which juxtaposed the icy dread it sent through through his body, ”I know Lost, but she doubted me in the beginning and I proved her wrong… yet… she doubted my choice in him and it seems we both had fallen short in regards to ours choices - mine in him and his in his lackadaisical interpretation of our service to the clan a hewn tool,” meek confidence rang in his overly calm tones as he touched his freckled nose to her fluffy shoulder in reciprocation before he pulled away and continued his strides to Dawnstar’s den looking more like a criminal set for execution than a medicine cat reporting a fault not wholly their own, ”I know you will, sister, you never have,” he purred as she took steps to catch up to his side, never leaving his side… she never had. White tipped paws feel on even gaits as he pushed through the silver gilded verdant and muddy orange hues of the lichen choosing to come as the others had to rather than through the tunnel that connected his burrow to the den which housed Dawnstar and her grotesquely adorned den, sucking in a deep breath of hot summer air which felt more stuffy then relieving the herbalist allowed himself a single tippy tappy shuffle of petite paws on sun hardened earth before he shook his angular head to rid his starry mind of the whispering voices which wiped in his mind in taunting screams of his own inadequacy… focus, focus, focus, no more… and as if the world had simply slowed and time had sped to a halting stop his mind went empty as a mask flickered over his features, he didn’t care, it was a fundamental realisation in that moment that he simply didn’t care, it wasn’t his job to foster the idealistic follies of an apprentice more suited for the rank of a kit with his ways more akin to a kitty pet than a warrior.

❦ Star marked brow canted upwards as white twinged muzzle tipped away from the ground and moved to settle his mossy hues to a regal high, just enough down to be respectful and true… he wasn’t proud… nothing about that word could he picked apart and stuck on him like a bitter mockery, he was utterly void of anything besides a gnawing guilt and the claws of anxiety which raked at his tattered heart unbeknownst to anyone but himself as his face exuded only a monotone expression of absentminded calmness, it was a factual endeavour - nothing more and nothing less. ”Dawnstar,” Mossfreckle’s lilting tones slipped evenly from his maw, the fluidity and confidence surprised him against the opposing sticky dryness of his throat, ”I have come to speak with you about Grousepaw, I fear the predicament is something I cannot allow the benefit of the doubt for anymore,” gaze flicked to take in Lostspark soley for a moment before they snapped back up the entrance leaving the lithe grey feline in his peripherals once more.

❦ Feathery tail twitched idly, finally slowing from its irritated lashing after much inner warring, Mossfreckle strode into the shadowy confines of Dawnstar’s den only after the large, dark pelted tabby acknowledged his presence and allowed him in, usually he would would have simply entered to speak with her as he was somewhat obligated to her time as her medicine cat - he did mean that with the utmost respect however - but between the kits and her slowly souring mood he had stood and waited, like a burrow being a safety net against a bitter storm, he wasn’t scared of her anymore but he also didn’t feel like making metaphorical claws a reality or the pain of the situation at paw something he’d need to waste herbs on. Dipping his angular head for a moment the medic settled his mossy hues within the wide amber pools of his leaders eyes which were accentuated by the x shaped scaring which was on display jaggidly through her dark face, ”Grousepaw is missing and subsequently he will be removed as my apprentice. I thought I saw a part of myself in him, striving to be seen as a source of knowledge rather than fear, but now as I look back with hind sight I see it was simply a fundament lackadaisical inclination, a hubris one may say,” his words were curt but eloquent, bluntly to the point but with enough flowery langue to truly express the situation the way it was experienced by him, ”I would like to apologise for any harm I may have caused the clan with my poor decision making but I do have a proposal of an aid or a new medicine cat apprentice, however you may see it fit to implement such. As much as I would like to sit in my burrow and do it by myself as I always have, lick my metaphorical wounds form my own failed judgement of character I acknowledge the importance of having another healer if something were to happen to me. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt associating disconnection with anxieties but once again when I look back I can see that he simply chose not to rise to the stress and conquer it, I assumed he was anxious and eager to prove himself like I had been, I see now we are nothing alike,” an apology, an offer, and a conclusion, as unthrilled as he was to need to be having this discussion it needed to be had and he was at least someone on the chipper side at the fact that was finally being addressed and solved… even if he wished he had come to see the fatal flaw sooner.

Owlthroat stiffly sauntered to the entrance of Dawnstar’s den. Pausing, peering in through narrowed yellow eyes. He knew she expected him to wait here, particular about who did or didn’t step foot within. His ink splotched fur still twinged and splattered with varying shades of crimson, less so than before now that Mossfreckle had patched him up. Effectively so, he might add. The healer’s pragmatism was appreciated, even though he might have liked a pat on the back for his endeavours. With Newtbelly resting, he’d do this by himself.

Be thorough and concise, put all the report into one neat bundle for their leader to digest. His twisted mind still whirred with his previous revelation, Owlthroat wanted kits. A family of his very own, it wasn’t long since Dawnstar just had her own. The little terrors wandering around camp causing havoc at an alarming pace. There was no question kits of his very own would be just as menacing. Likely sticking their noses into all sorts of trouble, the thought was humorous. Tuftedtusk would likely agree to them, he never said no to Owlthroat after all.

Family was an unfamiliar concept, he had Flytail of course. But their relationship was somewhat unique, a discordant cacophony of love, strife and belonging. Could Owlthroat really be responsible for creating a lineage, a question he wasn’t entirely sure of quite yet. How many egotistical tendencies would he pass on, bloodlust maybe? Surely Tuftedtusk’s more balanced nature would even it out, set them right in life before they went wrong.

Adrift in thought, how romantical. How unlike him. The tom gently flexed his paws, the black seeds Mossfreckle had given him took the edge desperately off the ebbing pain in his side. The gash now subdued, alongside the bite in his rear leg. Another one for the memory books he supposed gently.

“Dawnstar, I’m here to report the fox at Mourning Ruins.” The tom meowed respectfully, he didn’t want to be on her bad side. Far too much scrutiny to be there, eyes on him was not a fond feeling unless it came from achievement. ”It disturbed a rat’s nest whilst myself and Newtbelly were hunting, likely after the easy pickings.” He paused as a muscle twinged. ”Won’t be a bother anymore.” Remaining matter of fact, on cue teasing another clump of red fur from the corner of his crooked yellow teeth.

The Shadow Queen was grooming her spawn when the voice traveled through the lichen-covered entrance of her den. She yawned then untangled herself from her kits to pad towards the mouth of the cave. Pushing aside the lichen, she sat at the threshold and peered at Froggymask.

"What about Shrewstep?" She lapped at her messy fur while awaiting a response.

Dawnstar was on her paws with her fur bristled as the heavy stink of blood washed through her den. She shoots a seething glare at Hawkbite and gives a soft warning hiss while sitting at the edge of her nest. The herb scent battled with the metallic scent and had her stomach in knots.

The news he reported was less than stellar. An escapist, an injured queen, and a fox. This was why she wasn't sticking her hairballs in the nursery. "Wonderful, how bad is pretty bad?" Dawnstar wasn't looking forward to announcing the death of a kit and a queen.

"Did Mossfreckle say how long they'll be expected to remain in the medicine den?" Nightshiver was Dawnstar's primary forever queen, she relied heavily on her to keep order amongst the kits and queens. The leader wanted her back in the nursery sooner rather than later.

"I want you to rest and inform Mistlewhisker of the gap in our walls. All of the walls are to be refortified immediately. She can gather some warriors and apprentices and tend to that at once."

She swore she was never going to get any sleep! The leader lifted her head from her pile of hairballs and fixed her burning golden glare on the lichen-covered entrance. It was Mossfreckle this time. A growl bubbled from the back of her throat at Grousepaw's name. Even though she'd accepted him, she still didn't like that brat. Had Mossfreckle finally gotten it through his thick head that he needed a different apprentice?

"Enter," She drawled without rising from her nest. Dawnstar had accepted Mossfreckle enough that she didn't feel the need to get up and meet him outside of her. She still watched him like a hawk eyeing a plump rabbit when he entered the den. Even though some form of trust was extended to him, she'd never allow herself to completely trust any cat.

Her tattered ears were alert as he went into detail about Grousepaw. So the useless lump of fur had finally gone missing. That's what made Mossfreckle see the error in his choice, or at least part of the reason. As much as she wanted to growl she knew Grousepaw wasn't fit for the role and that Mossfreckle should have chosen one of her grandkids, it sounded like he already understood that he was wrong. He acknowledged his mistake, would learn from it, and sounded rather apologetic. There was no need for her to further humble the cat.

"Disgusting, stop apologizing." She huffed, the medicine cat was making her skin crawl. There was such a thing as being too humble, she did expect him to have some pride as ShadowClna's medicine cat. "It's not your fault the Grousepaw's gone missing or proven inept. I am glad you know where you went wrong with your choice. I never thought he was fit for the rank of medicine cat apprentice, unworthy, but since Lostspark trusted you and you've proven your worth and devotion to ShadowClan, I decided to go along with your decision. Now that we both agree that Grousepaw was a waste of time and effort, I'm giving you three moons to find me a replacement medicine cat apprentice, though sooner would be better."

Dawnstar could go without a deputy for seasons if she had to, but that could not be said the same for medicine cats. Healers were vital to the clan's survival, Dawnstar always had her medicine cats' ranks filled with only the most trustworthy cats. The life of a warrior was harsh and would be even harsher without medicine cats, or perhaps nonexistent would be better a word. She was willing to cut Mossfreckle some slack and give him time to find a replacement for Grousepaw since she had a few cats with medical knowledge to get ShadowClan by in a pinch.

"Aside from gatherings, I don't want you out of camp until you find a new medicine cat apprentice. ShadowClan can't afford to lose you." After Ivysnake, Lostspark, and Elmshadow, Dawnstar wasn't interested in taking risks with Mossfreckle. She would have to announce Grousepaw's statues at the gathering and she didn't want a target on Mossfreckle's back. "If I don't get one chosen within the generous time limit I'm giving you, I will choose for you. In the meantime find Rookfire and tell him he'll be aiding you in the medicine den for the time being. If you need something done outside of camp he can deal with it."

Dawnstar knew she could always throw Lostspark back into the medicine den, but even though she had served as a medicine cat, Dawnstar knew that it wasn't something Lostspark wanted long-term. She was a good Enforcer and she liked where she was at. Dawnstar wouldn't make her stay in the medicine den if she didn't want to remain. Rookfire on the other paw had some knowledge of healing and was like two peas in a pod with Mossfreckle so the Enforcer could help out in the medicine den until Mossfreckle found a new apprentice. She was hoping the restriction on his freedom would hasten that decision.

[I most certainly will see about that, thank you!]

What now? ShadowClan's been pretty quiet, but active and trouble seems to have picked up right after she had her kits. Not that it was bad but she could do with a little quiet. Her kits were proving to either be menaces or so attached to her that she couldn't breathe without them in her fur. But truly she couldn't win she found them annoying when they stuck to her like burrs, but then worried about what they were doing when they weren't directly in her line of sight. Being an actual parent was a real chore, like running the clan, but worse. The kits she had adopted had all been apprentices or older so she hadn't had much paw in rearing them. Now that changed and boy was it an experience for her.

The cat outside her den was taking some time to speak, so she got out of her nest, stepping around the hairballs sleeping in it, and walking towards the entrance. Owltalon's meow sounded not long after she got up and started walking. Another fox? She pushed aside the lichen with a broad shoulder and sat before Owltalon.

Her amber glare roved over the tom's pelt inspecting him with a light frown. A thought came to her why hadn't she placed Owltalon as one of her Enforcers again? With Silverlark deceased, she needed a replacement for him. Not that Owltalon was the perfect fit, but she'd keep an eye on him.

"No severe injuries for either of you?" She questioned with a slight tilt of her head. "What of the rat nest? Do I need to inform the clan to be wary about the Mourning Ruins?" If there is a nest of rats there it would need to be removed quickly. Rats were disease-carrying parasites. Since there were some in the territory she'd have to tell Mossfreckle to stock on... she could not recall the name but knew there was an herb for rat bites. Rats weren't uncommon around ShadowClan but they weren't a daily pest either. Being prepared wouldn't hurt.

Ok. He'd practiced this. But what if you fail? What if she doesn't listen? The voice that sounded so much like his father whispered in his mind. He told it to go away, he didn't want any part of his father with him.

"I don't think Shrewstep should stay an Enforcer. He hasn't been active around the Clan, I almost never see him around. Plus, I don't think that he takes his duty seriously. Besides what I already said, he doesn't seem serious enough as a personality trait. Being goofy and whatnot is ok as a warrior, but for a position as important as being an Enforcer, you need to be as serious as you can get." he said, his voice staying stable and cool as he said it. Emotionless, but in a good way.

Ok. The next part was why he'd be better than Shrewstep. You got this. This voice was calming, and soothing, unlike his father's disappointed and angry voice. This one belonged to his mother.

"I could do so much better than him. I've worked hard as a warrior, and I've taken it upon myself to train two apprentices. I've caught a murderer. What has Shrewstep done? From what I can tell, nothing." Foggymask made sure his voice had a little bit of force, a little bit of persuasion.

"Also, your kits look like they'll be good warriors when they grow up. With that many of them, you'll probably need to get a kitsitter." the lynx point said, adding a bit of a humorous tone onto it. That was the strangest way to compliment the leader's kits. But he'd roll with it.
