Goldenwing observed the proceedings of the gathering, sitting herself next to Whitestreak. *So many other cats...*
She felt grateful that so far most interactions between the clans were going civilly, if not always very friendly. Riverclan being driven out a couple moons prior had certainly placed a heavy tension over clan relationships.

That was her inner monologue. On the outside she was visibly just as enthused. Calmer, perhaps. "Am I your dear already?" The she-cat laughed, but a quiet purr cut through the pause she took. "Hm... You're quite the charmer. I suppose I wouldn't mind being around you more often." A jest, of course. "Not that it was obvious or anything."

Meadowwhisper nodded a curt greeting. "Tensions are high so it makes me wary if I'm honest, but well." Meadowwhisper mewed, looking to her mate, she couldn't hold back a small smirk at his cute energy. "I'm well! How.... are you." Fallenmoon purred, happy some cat was talking to him as if he wasn't different.

Silverfur would twitch her whiskers and move towards a group of riverclan cats. Her fluffy silver fur and blue eyes were scouting for anyone with some gossip. She was pretty bored, and it was getting colder now. She would pretty much sit right next to one of the Riverclan warriors. She didn't do small talk, but then again she was a big fluffball that was very warm.

"Yeah gatherings are a big deal apparently. I would rather have a quiet night and a rabbit, but apparently I've been good enough to come to this gathering, not that last one was anything special. I did get a good sleep last moon" she would mew.

"Oh how rude, I'm Silverfur, first gathering as a warrior. Anything exciting happening?"

So it had simply been a kind gesture, something about that hit Cricket'Paw differently,
"Thank you." It was the simplest form for her feelings of gratitude. The Gathering seemed to have officially started, and she turned her ears to the leaders, while still avidly hoping to keep up conversation with Burnedpaw.
"You aren't how my clan described you, and I'm glad they were wrong." it was a genuine statement, Riverclan was angry at all the other clans, and Cricket'Paw had been fearful it would have shown through here at the gathering, but so far, it had been rather enlightening and calm.

Rabbitfur let out a boisterous laugh, returning the gentle nudge with one of his own. He gave her a swift lick around her ears before she could protest again. "Well, I certainly don't have anything to complain about anyway." He purred, touching his muzzle to Gorseflower's head briefly. "Even if I turned out only 'okay', it was enough that you chose me in the end. So, no complaints here!"

He laughed again at his mate's point. "When in doubt, wear them out!" He meowed with a chuckle. "Never failed me!" But even as he laughed, his fatherly instincts also made him tense slightly. Seeing his daughter be so friendly with a cat from another clan...made him uneasy. What if, against all odds, she did end up falling in love with a cat from another clan? It was possible, after all it wasn't like he could shield from everything forever. It made him nervous...he knew how powerful true love could be, him better than most. "We can't protect them from everything..." He murmured, his brows furrowing in concern as he shook his head. He knew being a father was difficult, but stars he didn't realize how difficult it was to let go.

Kitepaw stared at her paws as her father spoke, though she was listening intently. Until he brought her gaze up to his, she wasn't sure that she completely believed him, but looking into his eyes now she could see he was telling her the truth. Something suddenly occurred to her as he spoke, but she let him finish explaining about Cricketpaw, nodding with understanding. "I definitely get how Cricketpaw feels..." She murmured, glancing back down at her paws before looking back up to her father. "But...papa...is that what happened with...with you and mother?" She inquired, uncertainty ringing in her voice.

She was certain she was crossing a line here, and she knew that her question might wound her father, but she couldn't help herself. What he was saying...it sounded plausible. "Was mother...unable or unwilling to...to let us in?" She returned her gaze to her paws guiltily. She had never really asked her parents about why they ended their relationship. This was probably not the place for it, but it didn't seem like anycat was paying them any mind right now. At camp her father was busy and popular, and Kitepaw had training with Rowanmane. She wasn't sure if there would ever be another opportunity, not to mention that she wasn't sure if she'd ever have the courage to ask again. She shuffled her paws anxiously, unable to look up and meet her father's gaze, too afraid to see the expression on his face.

Ravenpaw followed Brokenstream all-too-happily, smiling up at him brightly. "I wouldn't say I'm 'stuck' with you at all! I l-really enjoy spending time together!" Phew, she almost said she loved spending time together. That would've been awkward! Something like that could easily lead to misunderstandings.

She blinked in surprise when Brokenstream said she could be a deputy or leader one day, following his gaze with a look of astonishment. She shook her head fervently. "Oh no! I want to be the strongest of course, but I don't think I could ever be like Fadingstar." She meowed. She didn't mean to disagree with the Lionheart, but honestly she didn't think she was leadership material. "If I could be a Lionheart someday like you, I think I'd be happy with that." She added. Of course, she wouldn't mind being the head of the Lionhearts either. Or maybe... She paused her steps briefly. Did she have aspirations to be deputy someday? She had never really given it too much thought before...but if Brokenstream said it was possible then...

She shook herself, bringing her attention back to Brokenstream. She beamed at the chance to brag about her mentor. "Redmire is awesome! I love how fearless she is!" She purred. "She promised to take me out soon, I hope it'll be a combat or swimming lesson!" She added. "I really wanna get good at swimming, its one thing RiverClan has over the other clans." Anything that gave her a tactical advantage over a potential enemy was a good thing right? ThunderClan could keep their trees, and WindClan their tunnels. She would be the most proficient swimmer and know more about the water than anycat someday!

Burnedpaw nodded at Cricketpaw's thanks, though he really didn't feel like it was something he deserved. He felt that any decent cat would've done the same as him. But he also understood how meaningful a helping paw and understanding ear can be, so he accepted her gratitude without rejection. He glanced at Cricketpaw when she made her comment, but said nothing right away.

"I can't speak for everycat in my clan," he finally started after a moment of deep consideration on how to respond, "but the past is the past. Spending energy holding onto grudges that have nothing to do with me is wasteful." He meowed, wise enough to keep his voice hushed and his eyes focused on the leaders. "The past is the past. If we're not able to leave it there, the clans will never heal. And it was always StarClan's intentions for us to work together and coexist harmoniously." He said what he said with a certain level of conviction, for he truly believed what he said. Burnedpaw knew logically that peace between the clans was impossible, but it was always something he would hope for.
