Alpinepaw waited for the others to come back outside the Leader's Den. Peachpaw had come with muddy leaves in his mouth. She jumped onto the fallen log and noticed there were a few big cracks in it. Alpinepaw tried her best to rip off bits of moss large enough. The apprentice picked up one of the moss pieces and stuffed it into a crack. She repeated this until all the cracks were filled.

(The repairs of the dens are due by 11:59pm EST tomorrow. So, should we hurry up or get a time extension?)

Dang, these apprentices sure were eager to help! Good to see! Nightgaze gave a short "Yep! Should work!" answer to Peachpaw's questions before starting to gather up the mud and leaves. Alpinepaw had found some moss which was super great so she'd just let them do their own thing!

Filling the cracks carefully with mud, she gingerly padded down leaves and bits of mud to reinforce it. She repeated this process until she was completely sure all weak spots had been sealed. Shaking off the bits of mud clinging to her forepaws she observed their work. "That looks good?"

It takes a little more finagling than he anticipates to really get the leaves stuck in there, but Peachpaw gets the hang of it eventually. Once he stops and watches the others (slyly, he thinks, though his staring is pretty obvious) just to see how they're both doing it, the chore almost becomes fun...though he does have to empty the first crack out and refill it upon realizing that there hadn't been enough mud to keep everything stuck tight and form a proper seal.

He doesn't even notice how grimy he is! A good thing, too—Peachpaw's so entertained by this little repair job that it has him in a good mood, but that upbeat attitude and glowy look won't last long once he realizes what a mess he's become.

"Thank you for finding the moss, Alpinepaw," he chirps. He's in a good enough mood to be thankful. Peachpaw leans into the den once more, then leans out, inspecting the sealed spots from both sides just to make sure that none of that filling is crumbling out of either end all crazy. He has to pack a few spots of his own in a little firmer, aided by what little mud is left to be shared amongst the group, but all in all it looks pretty solid. Time will tell.

"Yes!" Peachpaw quells his doubt once Nightgaze speaks up again, even throwing a brisk, imperious little nod in. "I think it looks good."

She got off the log and padded inside, inspecting their work. Alpinepaw carefully looked at the filled cracks and saw a nest next to her. She thought as she stared at it, "That must be Bumblestar's nest! It looks comfortable." After a few minutes of looking around the den and inspecting, she walked outside and meowed, "It seems that we done a great job, Nightgaze and Peachpaw!".

Finally Nightwhisper seemed to have calmed down and Skylark wasn't going to stir up any more trouble with someone she was stuck doing this task with. Giving him a small, actually genuine smile back she turned her attention to the kitten that was batting at some of the bracken she had yet to weave in. Her smile broadened, the special warm smile that she reserved for kits alone. Crouching down to get onto his level she purred, "Well hi there honey, come to help us too? Yer a little small to be helpin' up here but I'm sure I can find a job for you somewhere."
