Hornetchase entered the nursery with quiet steps, curious about the future warriors, he stood next to the entrance, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the light difference; glancing around he noticed a young kit playing with a moss ball and his whiskers moved with laughter, she sat comfortably where she was and continued to watch entertained

Heathernose looked up when she saw her mate approached, purring loudly. "Lionscar!" She purred, reaching up to rub her muzzle against his. "I can't wait for these kits to be born." She admitted, her eyes laced with exhaustion. "Should be soon." She added, moving in her nest to lay on her side. She glanced at the feather he gave her, touching it briefly with her nose. "This has been very helpful." She meowed, looking up at her mate with warmth and love in her eyes.

Tell me about it! Heathernose was quite ready to being able to walk around like normal. Maybe even getting to stretch her legs with a walk every now and then. More importantly... "I can't wait to see them!" She purred in agreement.

DuskKit sat in his nest, boredom poking at him as he lay there. There was nothing to do and he'd rather stay here 'til he died of starvation than go and ask one of the other kits to play.

The she-cat smiled at Ashkit's excitement. "Oh, how time flies." She kept her voice a soft whisper not wanting to disturb their denmates. "It seems like yesterday you arrived. Your apprentice ceremony will be coming up very soon. I'm sure Twilightstar will choose a wonderful mentor for you." Leopardsong could the apprehension in the kit's voice.

"You'll most likely be a bit busy tending to your new duties and training as an apprentice, but I'm not going anywhere. You can always come and visit me if you're feeling lonely or want to talk. I'd love to hear about your training and any new friends you've made."

These kits come and go, flying from the nest faster than she could keep up with them. Normally once they've settled into new lives and freedom, she sees the kits she tended to less and less. Sometimes they disappear from her life completely other times she'll see them here and around the clan, but they don't spare each other many words. Leopardsong's never held it against any of them.

So long as these cats grow up healthy and happy she felt like she's done a pretty good job. A mother's love is unconditional and so is her's. No matter where these kits went or what they did, so long as they knew she'd always be there for them. All was well with her. Cottonkit was a primary example, he strayed from her side faster than ever. She saw the little tyke around camp here and there, but he didn't even stay in her nest anymore. Kits grow up so fast.

“Who do you think my mentor could be?” asked Ashkit. He also kept his voice down, because he didn’t want to wake up the other kits. Sometimes, all you needed was one or two kits to make up most of the others, and Ashkit didn’t want to do that.

Ashkit nodded. He’d come here as much as he could, and hoped it meant at least three times per week. “Will the training be hard?” He asked. The kit wondered if the things he would learn would be the same with the few basics he had learned as an outsider.

A thought popped into Ashkit’s mind. “Leopardsong, how did you end up as a queen? Did you follow the apprentice training that I will do too?” Maybe there existed another training that Leopardsong had forgotten to mention when she talked about ranks a few weeks ago.“I’ll become a warrior after being an apprentice, right?” asked the kit. He wanted to make sure that he wouldn’t end up as a medicine cat or some other rank.

Freezekit was still glaring at the ground when Ashkit spoke again. "It's nothing," he snapped. "Never mind." He didn't want to elaborate. Right now, he just wanted to forget that that had happened. I'm not weird, he fumed. I'm not sick. He'd just have to show Whistlekit later, that he was as good as any cat. Heck, he might even be better! And Ashkit pestering him to tell what he thought had happened was certainly not helping. "I don't care," he said firmly, hoping Ashkit would go away, and hoping that was a good enough answer for the orange tom.

“Okay then” said Ashkit. It was obvious that Freezekit was not in a good mood. He continued observing Whislekit, who was now shouting something about breaking her nose. Then, he stood up and walked into a shadowy corner of the den. He liked that spot, because he could observe the other kits without being seen too much.
