Cricket wasn’t sure what to do. The kit’s mouth was too small for her to shove her paws down there and get the bone out herself. She started to feel panic, glancing up to see that Notch was (unsurprisingly) gone. Where is that ass when I need him?! In her panic, Cricket flipped the kit upside down and pushed her paws against his body, under his ribcage, hoping to dislodge the bone.

[OOC: Like the heimlich maneuver but less graceful cause they don’t know what that is lol.]

* He started to cough and with a couple of presses the bone dislodges and flies out of his mouth. He gasped for air his eyes filled with tears of fear. He finally caught his breath and started to cry in fear at what almost happened to him. *

Cricket swatted the bone away when it came flying out, her long fur still standing straight on end making her look like a porcupine more than a cat. She tried to catch her breath, staring at Cardinal’s mewling for a moment before getting her fur to lay flatter. She curled her tail around Cardinal, sitting him upright so he didn’t choke on his own cries or something. She didn’t have any…comforting words for him. But she figured he’d been through enough. Not sure what else to do, she quickly double checked that Notch was indeed gone before setting her tongue to smoothing over Cardinal’s ruffed fur. A rumbling, almost raspy purr escaping her chest. This sound seemed to comfort him before, she hoped it would again.

[OOC: Cricket probably disagrees but I don’t LOL]

* He buried his head in her chest and cried. His mewling calming and coming to a stop. He mewed out a small and raspy word. *

* He laid back down and curled up under Cricket and cried himself to sleep. *

Freckle

A small kit watches these new cats from the tall grass, her brown-speckled tail waving with excitement. These cats are interesting! She should pounce on that big grumpy cat's tail, that would be a lotta fun.

So, without a moment's hesitation, she leaps from her hiding place with a squeak of a roar, landing right on her target's unassuming tail.

"Hewo dere!! I am duh mighty Frweckle! Who awre youz?" She declares, you can tell she's older than Cardinal, but from the way she speaks she's still pretty young.

Her whiskers twitch as she scans the faces of those around her, a delightfully cheerful grin on her face. Her fur is a bit messy, sticking up in some places and grass is scattered her cream and brown-speckled pelt, she must not have anycat to groom it into place for her.

* He jumped at the new kit and scrambled under Cricket for safety. He whispered and looked out from under her fur. He was shaking in fear. New cat hurt momma? *

Oh. Excellent. Cricket jumped to her paws at the new kit's arrival, glancing down as Cardinal hid underneath her behind her forelegs. What am I? A nursery? Where did this kit even come from? And where the hell is Notch?! She narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the kit. "Freckle?" That was an...interesting name. But she didn't really have any room to talk. "Where your mom?" She asked bluntly, even though looking at the kit she could tell they were likely on their own.

Around this time, Notch returned dragging a snake that was intended to be lunch. But he was surprised by what he saw. "Uh, Cricket?" He meowed, flicking his tail at the new arrival questioningly. "What's going on here?"

"Believe me! I'd love to know that too!" She retorted with a hiss.

She giggles as Cardinal ducks under "Grumpy Paws" (that's her new nickname for her), shaking her head.

"No silly, I am here ta make peace. Plus I'm borwed..." She states, grinning at Cardinal.

When Grumpy Paws speaks to her she cocks her head to the side, a confused expression inhabiting her face.

"Wat's a... wat's a 'mom'?" She asks, her little voice puncuating her question with uncertainty.

However she quickly snaps out of it, it's not like she knows that a mom is supposed to be important anyway, she doesn't even know what it is. So she peers through Cricket's legs at Cardinal, her tail flicking playfully.

"Hey you, do ya wanna play tag? I've only eva played with mysewlf before, by duh way, what's your name? Do you remember mine?" She asks, obviously excited at the prospect of a playmate.
