Re: battle basics - keeping up with jaws and claws [p]
rookfire could swear something in gutspaw changed but he was pretty sure it was just imagination at his own change of mindset or something in the likes. whatever it was, his kicks has struck gutspaw hard, allowing rookfire to free himself from the apprentice and roll back onto his paws. by the time the enforcers sharp grey eyes were focussed on gutspaw again they were face to face once more, teeth assuming a more passive position whilst rookfire just hovered in vague neutrality. once the apprentice darted forward, rook had assumed it would aim to strike at his side, but appeared to chose a different technique entirely by rolling itself under him.
surprised and a bit too shocked to do much, claws sliced the flesh of his ankles, making the enforcer flinch away, resulting in gutspaws shove doing a whole lot more than it wouldve without. large paws roughly yet only momentarily finding their place on teeths ribcage for balance before he half stumbled - half fell halfway over and off the apprentice, dull sound of his body hitting the soil echoing in his head even after getting back up. honestly, he was impressed. mostly by the creativity required to come up with a move like that mid battle, but also that teeth succeeded in executing a move so reliant on chance and proper movement. tension desolving pretty much the second rookfire turned back around to gutspaw following his stumbling away, honest grin splitting his face and barking rough laughter.
"spectacular! though i gotta say, try that with someone more experienced n they might gut ya" honest praise flowed off his tongue easily before cool silver eyes focussed on the other two apprentices, "cinder, magpie, 's enough. good work"
...
"gutspaw, good thinking, you did well. keep usin' your size as an advantage, that goes for magpiepaw as well by the way, but make sure to not pull something so risky unless youre 100% sure" admittedly, he hadnt really focussed on cinderpaw and magpiepaw all that much, but he had probably seen enough to say at least a few words.
"magpiepaw, dont overdo it with the confidence, some realism isnt gonna hurt you but keep up with offense game if thats what feels right. cinderpaw, try to keep your attention on your opponent at all times, keep making use of what you are served though. alright we're done
