"We can eat birds?" Fluffy's round eyes widen to become even more round, like marbles. "Does it taste good? I've never eaten a bird before, how should I eat it?"

Maybe this was a stupid question, but Fluffy wanted to know.

"Uh... yea. We can eat birds. I think they're pretty good..." Mumble smiled, crouching down and starting to eat before offering some of Fluffy. "Just eat it like you would a fish." They purred.

Fluffy cautiously looks at Mumble, then the piece of prey. But though his eyes are nervous, his big first bite isn't. Fluffy freezes in the middle of chewing the bird, then he spits out a mouthful of feathers and bones. "Ew, feathers." He mumbles, then swallows. "It's good. Not as good as fish, but good." Fluffy declares. "I'm going to catch one too."

And so Fluffy shuffles along the ground, determined to catch a bird. His rear is poised in the air, his tail sways in the air, and his long fur rustles against the wind. Fluffy sniffs the air.

[Fluffy rolls a 6]

No birdie. None that he could smell. Fluffy stops disappointedly.

Mumble giggled. "We probably already scared off most of the prey." They purred. It wasn't often that Mumble caught good prey, anyways, but they weren't going to crush this little guy by telling him about the struggles of the wild...

Fluffy blinks. "We scared them off? So they are hiding?" He prances around Mumble, still sniffing, but the only thing he can smell is the scent of the bird's blood that he just ate. Fluffy is disappointed.

"Then we can't catch more birds? Or fish?" He meows, pouting. "But I want more!"

Mumble's smile faded as Fluffy asked for more. "Oh... that's... that's now how it works here..." They looked away with an ashamed expression.
"I- I mean we could try to catch something else?..." They mewed with an unsure expression, attempting not to upset the poor little cat.

That is good enough for Fluffy. He bumbles around, in high spirits, checking under rocks and in the grass to spot any prey that nay be hiding. He doesn't mind or notice the sun going down.

Mumble followed around fluffy around, making sure the little thing didn't get into any trouble. Mumble didn't worry about the sunset, either. It was fine, they normally were up late anyways.

[Fluffy rolls a 7]

Fluffy finds nothing in the grass. It was a shame. He wanted to show off to Mumble. He looks up in the sky, tired and noticing a change, when he spots a small sparrow roosted on the branch of a tree. Fluffy prepares himself, then springs up, ready to attack!

[Fluffy rolls a 3]

Naturally he falls to the ground, nowhere even close to the bird. It's on a high branch and Fluffy hasn't yet learned how to climb. Even if he did, this particular prey is on alert and wouldn't be easily caught. It flies away.

"Birds are hard to catch," Fluffy complains. Well that explained why his Twolegs never caught any birds for him. Evidently they were not easy to catch. Fluffy stumbles along to find a small, shallow puddle of water. "I found water!" He meows, then starts drinking.

Mumble giggled at the cat's attempts to catch a bird, hoping he didn't notice. And as he began to lap at the shallow puddle, Mumble couldn't help but wrinkle their nose. Surely he wasn't desperate enough for dirty puddle water?
"Uh, I think we could find a stream, that would be much better." They suggested.
