Hummingbirdsong flicked her ears at the apprentice's loud tone. "Well I won't let that happen hopefully." Hummingbirdsong mewed, "Alright, so we should get some running started then. There's streches that you'll need to do for the first few weeks, if they become habits, even better." Hummingbirdsong mewed. "So come along." Hummingbirdsong led her apprentice to probably THEE most open spot, the moor itself. "See that bush? That's your check mark, you run from me to the bush, around the bush, then from the other side of it back to me. Try it once and I'll correct you as we go. One thing I will warn you about is your breathing. Don't breathe to hard or you'll pass out, don't breath to slow or you'll run out of breath, let you breathing match your pace."

Willowpaw listened to Hummingbirdsong and did what she said. She reached the bush, she skidded around it, and began running back. She realised that she was breathing fast, and tried to slow her breathing down to match her pace like Hummingbirdsong had told her.
She got back to Hummingbirdsong, panting slightly.

(Unlike Mosspaw, Willowpaw is not the best at running.)

Hummingbirdsong gave a slow nod, "Ok. So first thing, you didn't listen to my breathing advice, but that's ok, we'll work on it. Your running posture was decent, just keep your head a bit lower and don't restrict your tail as much...." Hummingbirdsong mewed, "And uh.. you didn't go around the bush like I asked, but that's also ok. Mistakes happen." Hummingbirdsong mewed, "Ok, come here. Let me teach you about breathing, this is critical in running." Hummingbirdsong added the "critical" part in hopes to encourage her apprentice to work on it more. "Catch your breath first." the queen mewed, sitting down with a gentle grunt. Once her apprentice had caught her breath, "Alright, so I wan't you to follow what I do. I'll demonstrate. So for fast movements such as running in sprint, use up a lot of energy right? Well as cats we can control our breathing due to how fast we can run." Hummingbirdsong stood, the queens grey ears flicked as she stood upright, starting to jump in place, "See, every time my paws, not just the tip of my paws, my entire pad, lands on the ground, I take a small breath, not a deep breath, a small inhale, and when my bodies up in the air, I give a bit of a longer exhale." Hummingbirdsong mewed, landing and not panting in the slightest. "As you practice this, you eventually build up the stanima to talk and run, my mentor had me run around this 3 times and just have a conversation with him, it was hell but I'm grateful for it now." Hummingbirdsong mewed, blinking as she examined her apprentice, "any questions before I move on?'

Hummingbirdsong nodded softly, assessing her apprentice's jumps. "Inhale don't exhale in the air. I know you want to but in the long run it helps your breath better." Hummingbirdsong mewed, her eyes narrowed to concentration as she looked over her apprentice's movement, "Good job with your paws" Hummingbirdsong mewed, hoping her slight change of tone told the apprentice they'd done enough jumping, "So keep the breathing in mind, the same breathing you did just then, as your body glides inhale, boost with your forepaws first your hind paws second, you might tumble at first as it's a long reach, but don't worry or be embarssed, every cat's tumbled while running."

“Thanks for teaching me that Hummingbirdsong!” She meowed excitedly. She had never been able to do any exercises without getting out of breath!

It's a bit more tricky but you'll get the hang of it" Hummingbirdsong mewed. Her mew was soft, as if she was talking to a kit, the queen wondered for a moment about her kits. Shaking off the thought, Hummingbirdsong inwardly scolded herself, Dang it Humming! Focus, what will Mushroomglow do if your a lousy mate and mentor? Hummingbirdsong then snorted in her head, She'll still love and pamper me, just lick my ears harshly, the girls gotta learn to be mad. Hummingbirdsong shook out her pelt, ignoring the little kicks her kits gave her.

Hummingbirdsong mewed, "Well, you learn something new everyday. So yes. But that's just the basics, as you start to run every day your techniques will change, injures will come across from battles and such and we'll just simply have to adjust. But for now you've done wonderful. " Hummingbirdsong lightly praised, flicking her tail,"If your not to tired, I'd like to teach you a proper hunting crouch before we go. Perhaps if you learn it fast enough we can catch some prey, get three bits of your training done in one."
