Notch opened one eye, curious to see Cricket's expression and response for himself. He was surprised to see Cricket looking at Cardinal as though deep in thought. Finally, Cricket heaved a sigh and only gave Cardinal a swift lick on his forehead. "Good." Was all she said before wrapping her body carefully around Cardinal. Guess I might as well accept it now... She had to admit, she had ended up taking care of Cardinal more than Notch, but she couldn't help it! She couldn't let this kit grow up like she did. She rested her head between her paws. "Get some rest. It's important for you to heal." She mewed, her voice suddenly calm with acceptance.

Ugh, I knew it. Cricket wasn't able to get any rest. She blinked her eyes open to make sure Notch was sleeping before doing something that'd rather kill than admit to. Cricket started to let out a soft, quiet purr at Cardinal's distressed mews, hoping that would help calm him down enough that he could get some rest.

Cricket breathed a sigh of relief, finally feeling able to close her eyes and get some rest too.

* He groaned a bit when he woke in the morning. He looked up at Cricket to see if she was awake, but curled back up. He dared not wake her. His stomach growled a bit and he looked at her. How deep in sleep was she? *

Not deep enough. Cricket's ear perked at the sound of Cardinal's stomach growling. She lifted her head, drawing her lips back and opening her mouth in a wide, gaping yawn. She hardly slept, continuing to wake periodically to check on Cardinal. Cricket rose to her paws and stretched a big stretch, using her claws to push herself back and then pull herself forward as she stretched her back and legs. Shaking her pelt, Cricket wordlessly examined one of the rat corpses from yesterday. Not crow food yet. She grabbed it and brought it over, setting it down where Cardinal and her had slept.

"Still need the mush?" She asked, looking at the kit curiously.
