The mentor’s calm presence and encouraging nods made Vinepaw feel valued and supported. It was clear to him that Watertail saw potential in him, and that gave him a sense of confidence and determination.

When Watertail mentioned starting a challenge, Vinepaw’s heart raced with anticipation. He was eager to prove himself and put his skills to the test. Watertail’s instruction was straightforward: demonstrate stealth using the nearby tree as a prop. Vinepaw’s mind raced with strategies as he visualized the tree and considered how best to approach it.

Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Vinepaw focused on the task at hand. He knew this was his chance to show what he had learned and to make Watertail proud. With a mixture of excitement and determination, he approached the tree, ready to put his stealth training into practice. The thought of asking questions if needed gave him a bit of reassurance, knowing that Watertail was there to support him.
Watertail watched carefully, noticing the tom's slight change in demeanor. Perhaps his words had done good? Or maybe he was being to blunt? Perhaps he'd work on it, for the good of his training and in general. Nobody wanted to talk to an old grouch now did they. Watertail watched Vinepaw, studying his movements as he waited for Vinepaw to start, "You can start." Watertail mewed, it was a small reminder as well as encourgament to start. Though his eyes didn't change, his body was relaxed. He had faith in Vinepaw. Vinepaw was a good kid. "Small bit of wisdom, I like what your doing now, with anything we train on today and in the future, analysis it here in safety while you can, it makes stealth and ideas come faster, and makes being a warrior a tad bit easier." Watertail mewed, deciding to add, "and in the future", because, well Watertail was willing, and honestly looking forward to training this apprentice further.

Vinepaw
9 Moons
He/Him
Vinepaw noticed the subtle shift in Watertail’s demeanor and felt a bit more at ease. The encouragement to start and the advice to analyze his movements in safety were helpful. “Thanks, Watertail,” Vinepaw said, nodding as he stepped into position.

He began practicing the exercise, focusing intently on each move. Vinepaw moved through the steps with deliberate precision, his actions reflecting the wisdom Watertail had shared. He crouched low, carefully simulating stealthy approaches and quick defensive maneuvers, analyzing each movement to ensure he executed them correctly.

As he practiced, Vinepaw incorporated Watertail’s advice by pausing occasionally to reflect on his technique. He adjusted his stance and movements based on what felt most effective and efficient. “I can definitely see how analyzing things here helps,” he said, glancing over at Watertail. “It’s easier to understand and correct mistakes when I’m not under pressure.”

He continued practicing, his movements becoming more fluid and confident as he applied Watertail’s guidance. With each repetition, Vinepaw felt his skills improving, and he appreciated the chance to refine his techniques in a safe environment.

“Thanks for the advice, Watertail,” Vinepaw said with a genuine smile. “It’s really making a difference. I’m looking forward to more training and continuing to learn

Watertail watched, eyes narrowed to coal slits as he analyzed the apprentice. "Wonderful job fixing your mistakes." Watertail praised as Vinepaw paused now and then. Watertail watched silently, nodding slightly. "Anytime." He mewed as the apprentice randomly thanked him, though the thanks was welcome Watertail couldn't help to add, "No need to thank me, the only thanks I need is seeing you be your best warrior." Watertail meowed, his tone showing his gratitude to the apprentice, for him and for his hard work. "Glad it's working for you, training is learning is all you do at your age, your perciverance and determination is commendable." Watertail admitted, giving a raspy purr.
