rookfire had originally been out for his favourite pass time-duty merge, patrolling random parts of the territory with roachflare and either gathering herbs or studying the natures progression from the very beginning of greenleaf to leaffall. there had not been a lot of changes yet, except of a number of plants wrinkling in the sun, losing some of their green after harsh impact of hot rays burning down all days, it wasnt a lot though since shadowclan territory was mostly cast in darkness due to its large amount of tall evergreen trees. roach had never pressured him out of this activity and appeared to enjoy the silence so rook wasnt complaining.
however, it appeared as if the two wouldnt get to bask in soft rays and enjoy the cool air around them, because the second rookfire stepped foot into evergreen grotto he knew there was something very wrong. jaw parted slightly and remaining ear switching between pinned to his head to actively listening instead as the enforcer crept through the landmark. speckles of light shifted on rooks back, revealing muscles working beneath thick dark pelt, as he rounded a corner and finally got silver eyes on the intruder. disappointingly, it was a kit that didnt look like it had noticed them yet.
some tension leaving his body, rookfire stood a lot taller now, before approaching the kit. "hey you cant be out here. are you alone?" the enforcer enquired, tapping the kit with his front paw.

She turned around looking at the cat with imparred eyes due to very strained voice she didn't respond instead tilted her head it would be hard for her to describe what had happened and she dropped the mouse so she could smell the cat
rookfire squinted at the kit, something was off about them, nudging the kit again in an attempt of figuring out whether or not they could be useful the enforcer watched for reactions. the mouse by their paws wasnt really doing the kit any good either. sure they were small and defenceless but they had shadowclan prey on their lips and werent responding to him. "can you say anything?" leave or take..leave or take hmmmm. rookfire wasnt really the biggest fan of kits himself and not having to carry one to camp was definitely a plus in his books but if dawnstar found out he abandoned a kit that could be useful for shadowclan he'd get into heaps of trouble and that would be..unfortunate. a glance around, rookfire half hoped one of the other enforcers would pop up out of nowhere to take this decision from him, or at least offer their opinion so the punishment would be half in some weird social way. very much expected, no one was around so he was left to deal with this on his own since he didnt really feel like including roachflare in something he deemed enforcer duties.
rookfire didnt love border patrols, but it was better than hunting and still left the option to catch or gather whatever they came across, however, racing roachflare through dark conifer forest, waving around trees and shrubs, undergrowth and bushes. healing muscles giving into a regular running cycle with little to no complaint as trees flew by besides, a little faster, finally taking this serious, rookfire overtook roachflare with ease. left in the dust with shorter legs and annoyingly long pelt, the tortoiseshell arrived in their destination, the evergreen grotto, a few seconds after the dark enforcer, giggling happily through his gasping for air. "i'll beat you next time" roach winked, whilst rook simply rolled his eyes, canting his head up in a half nod to signal they start looking around. he liked roach, had never expected to befriend the other like he did. he had been a mentor for the most part, a fellow clanmate for the rest of the time, but only recently a friend. rook liked the way it sounded, liked the lightness roach made him feel. like he didnt have to hide who he was for once, like it was okay to just be for once, with no expectations at all. trapped in mushy sweet thoughts, he remembered the semi successful chervil trip he had taken with lostspark and decided some chervil would be a nice thing to bring back in addition to information. splitting up, roachflare still letting giggles slip every once in a while, rookfire finally eased into work mode entirely, carefully mapping out the area he had to cover with sharp silver gaze before starting to work his way through from the outside in. whilst he had never been a very vocal person, he still felt like shadowclan and their tendency to replace words with actions, the slightest twitch of ears, flick of tail, another cats pose, had influenced the amount of words he let slip through..
but that wasnt relevant now.
covering the last bit of territory on his side and satisfied with the lack of finding or oddities, rookfire met roachflare in the middle. after quick confirmation that the younger warrior hadnt found anything else either, the two set off to return to camp again. on the way, rookfire stopped briefly once to sniff around on a sun drenched meadow, more or less immediately picking up the distinct spicy, flowery smell. the red flower heads stood out amongst green of the grass, wrinkled by the sun and looking a bit sad so the enforcer selected the ones that looked the least like death, tho it was irrelevant for poppies anyway. whilst rook had selected the flowers he wanted and carefully removed them from their stems, roachflare had copied the process for himself without asking any questions. in the end, they took a few that looked a bit less than alive but they only needed the seeds, the state of the flowers petals or even the stem were irrelevant. no time to let them dry out here for a bit, they simply made their way back to camp immediately.

She knew what he was saying by the vibrations of the ground and she attempted to talk a very VERY faint 'mew' came out but nothing else and she could not hear it or FEEL it

He'd tried to squirm his way through, but had never managed it and he doubted any cat would beyond a kit if HE was unable to fit. It's really pretty here, a nice place to take cats on dates! He hadn't done it himself yet, but it had always been on his radar for a potential Wooing Location. @snowflake.

As soon as Shadepaw stepped into the grotto, she stopped, her breath taken away. Sunlight slanted through the trees, illuminating a lush clearing with moss carpeting the ground, with a small stream burbling cheerfully nearby. She could compare it to the night she watched all those fireflies blinking in and out of view. "Wow..." she said, ignoring her mentor's very undignified strutting around. Seriously, is that cat ever serious about anything? How would Shrewstep's impression affect her mother? Clovepool might think he isn't training her properly, what with all his... enthusiasm. That thought dampened her mood. She wanted to be trained. Hard. So Clovepool would be proud of her. How could she do that if her mentor didn't go hard on her? "Okay," Shadepaw grumbled, looking away. Then Shrewstep said that thing about taking cats on dates, and she looked back towards him and had to roll her eyes. Why would anyone want to have kits? They're just loud, annoying, and obnoxious. Her mother has made it clear she only had her and her brother so that someday they'd do something, probably something to get in the favor of Dawnstar, and become actually important, or something... It was hard to tell with Clovepool.
