Ears flattened, Weevilkit sits restlessly at the entrance of the nursery. It hadn't been long since Bumblestar brought her into the camp so the she-cat still felt out of place. What made it worse was having to be a kit and stay in the nursery. She was moons older than most of the kits around her, and those closer to her age were already apprentices, some even warriors! How long before Weevilkit could be an apprentice too? Weevilkit felt frustrated, but she didn't want to go against her leaders' wishes. She wanted to someday be an asset to her clan, and complaining wouldn't make that any easier or faster.

Weevilkit sighed, getting back to her feet and ready to find something to do when a tiny voice called out from behind her. "Um. Hi?" she mewed back, looking down at the kit curiously before glancing around the immediate area. Whose kit was this? Why would a kit talk to a grouchy-looking furball like her? Weevilkit didn't even know how to talk to younger kits! She couldn't even recall a time where she actually interacted with a cat younger than herself. What was she supposed to do?

"Er... Are you looking for your mother or something?" her leaf-green eyes darted anxiously around as she spoke. Do all little kits have such big round unblinking eyes? Weevilkit shifted uncomfortably, but didn't want to just leave. What if this kit needs help? What kind of ThunderClanner would she be if she didn't help a little kit in need?

"Oh, no, she's dead." Butterflykit replied as if it was nothing "I just wanna talk to you!"

Her tail twitched excitedly as she continued.
"Like what's your name, and how are you?" Genuine curiosity came from Butterflykit as she seemed to be already trying to figure Weevilkit out.

PumpkinKit nodded in agreement at the suggestion the gray she-cat made, they should play together, I mean why not, there was nothing better to do. He didn't mind inviting two other kit's to join them, as long as ChasmKit was okay with it.

"Sure, I don't mind."

He purred softly, tail flicking as he looked to ChasmKit for approval.

"Oh." Her ears twitched nervously. Weevilkit felt sad for the younger kit for a moment, then bemused. This little thing said it so matter-of-factly, it seems she didn't really mind at all! Clans obviously face more death than many other cats, but Weevilkit didn't expect such a young cat to be so... indifferent to it. The brown-she cat eyed the excited kit curiously.

"Um. I'm Weevilkit," she mewed quietly. How was she? She hadn't really given that much thought recently. The sudden change in scenery had left her disoriented and overstimulated, and mostly the she-cat had just been trying to fit in and feel at home. But if she had to answer the question honestly, the answer would probably be "lonely" or "lost". It hardly seemed appropriate to dump all of that on a little kit, though.

"I'm good..." she responded half-heartedly. She settled down so that she was face-to-face with the younger cat. Weevilkit gave her a weak smile. "And what's your name?"

"Cool name!" She responds cheerfully.
She absolutely does not process that Weevilkit is to big to have the suffix 'kit'.

The calico listen d as Weevilkit said she was good, and then asked for her name.
"I'm Butterflykit!" She chirps "You wanna play a game? Explore?"
She was absolutely going to continue suggesting things if she wasn't stopped.

"Hi, Butterflykit," she meowed with a grin. "We both have bug names." It seemed like a lot of ThunderClan cats had bug names, but Weevilkit still found it amusing.

Explore? Weevilkit glanced around. She had wandered the camp countless times already, restless and eager to explore further than the camp's boundaries. There didn't seem like there was much left to explore. "How 'bout a game?" she suggested, getting back to her feet. "What do ya like to play?"

"Cool!" Butterflykit replied "All eleven, no... twelve.." She can't count right yet "Of my siblings are bugs too!"

"Game! Okay!" She then thought for a moment "Oh! Wanna play... uh... clan? You can be leader! Cause I wanna be deputy, like papa!"

Cardinalsong watched and listened idly to the chatter of the nursery, keeping somewhat of an eye on his own two girls. He did his best not to worry too much about his only son, their littermate. His lovely Petrelstorm had taken Grousekit to the medicine den — he had the sniffles, and she was worried about it being whitecough.

He sighed to himself. For that he knew Petrel could be a bit unnecessarily cautious, the kittens had only been born a moon before, Grouse being the smallest of the three. He couldn't help but worry.

A whining mew pulled him from his own mind. There was little Piperkit at his feet, peering up at him. "Daddy," she wheedled, "When's Grousey coming back? Kite's not being any fun!"

Cardinalsong found himself amused in spite of his worries, and that wave of gratefulness that was becoming so common these days rolled over him. He grinned down at his daughter. "Your mother brought Grousekit to the medicine den for a reason — he's too sick to be any fun himself."

Piperkit gave a long and dramatic groan, then fell to the floor limply. She lay there making the most heartwrenchingly miserable face at him — it might be more effective if she weren't so wonderfully adorable. "What am I supposed to do then?!" she demanded. "I'm SOOOOOOOOO boredddd."

Cardinalsong glanced around for Kitekit, who seemed completely unaware of her sister's distress, occupied as she seemed to be with a pile of little trinkets. We ought to have named her Magpiekit, the way she collects those things, he thought to himself wryly. He turned back to his problem child. He bent over to say in a conspiratorial whisper, "She seems pretty proud of her collection. Imagine how annoyed you'd get her if you found something way cooler."

With an excited gasp, Piperkit leaped to her feet. "I bet I'll find something WAY WAY COOLERER than Kite will EVER see in her WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE!" she announced to the entire den. She then bounded clumsily off, fur puffed up with the excitement of showing up her sister.

Cardinalsong laughed heartily at her antics. He doubted Kitekit would give a rat's tail how cool of a treasure Piperkit found, but it would keep her occupied... for now.
