Oh stars above, don't tell him he'd gotten stuck with a bossy little kit! Brindlepaw's previously somewhat benign expression turned into one quite sour as Antpaw started mouthing off for quite literally no reason. It's not like the rest of them were wandering out of camp to do nothing, they just took a minute getting over there. Besides, it was likely to take Brindlepaw's larger body a bit longer to pick his way over to the largest branches which he was sure the little rat would be glad of his help moving.

He didn't particularly mind having to take care of the larger bits, he was big and it might as well be useful for something. Using his shoulders and occasionally his front paws to redirect its course he began shunting one of the largest branches out of the way. He didn't try to drag it out of camp, it could be repurposed for the new structure, but it wasn't inside the main den area anymore. A second larger branch met the same fate, before he was left staring at one that was probably too large for him to handle on his own. Big he might be, but full grown he was not. Also Brindlepaw was feeling a bit woozy, a bit droopy. Not at full strength. He coughed lightly. Can one of you help me with this one? he called, shoving the offending branch with his paw. Sadly, as Brindlepaw will soon find out, Antpaw is indeed a bossy apprentice. And not only that, he is very, very grumpy. Antpaw ignores Brindlepaw's call for help, instead walking away with some dirty wet moss and sticks in his teeth.

Wolfhive was right. They might have to relocate the apprentice den to the other side of the tree. There was no way it was drying out fast enough to use in a day or two. The other option was sleeping in the elder's den and waiting until it dried, but that would leave the camp vunerable; gaping holes weren't usually a good idea to have in a den. How annoying.

His mood only gets worse when he sees the peacefully sleeping Copperpaw. Antpaw doesn't even bother to speak; instead he scrapes his talons along a rock to generate a sharp, grating noise, loud enough to unsettle and wake the cat up from their slumber. "Sleep somewhere else. We're working here," he hisses after Copperpaw wakes up.

COPPERPAW

Hm butterflies. Hmmmm frogs. Hmmmm mouse? Hmmm…snake??? The apprentice bolted upright from his confusing dreams of miscellaneous animals at the sound of hissing, which turned out to be just another cat. He shook his head, clearing the sleepy dog from his mind.

“Working?” Oh right. Confused look turning to a snobbish glare, he retorted, “Well no need to be rude about it, I’m perfectly out of the way.” It wasn’t his fault that the temporary relocation was extremely cramped and loud. What was the harm of him napping to the side of the old den?His fur bristled indignantly, and he shifted on his paws, pacing a tail’s length away. He curled up again.

“Better?” he asked, annoyed at having been stirred from his sleep. This clan stuff was exhausting. Pax and Autumn never would’ve woken him up for something so silly. No no, don’t think like that. He wanted to be here.

Beachpaw -

Beachpaw had collected a small but growing section of debris, relocated outside of where they'd need to perform the rebuilding. They didn't mind working on their own, out of the way, preferably not getting ordered around by somebody. All this had to be done anyway.

When Brindlepaw asked for assistance, Beachpaw's head raised -- stick in mouth -- to see what was causing the trouble. A sizable branch. They set aside their individual progress to join their clanmate in dislodging it. With combined strengths, it seemed to be working. "Just a little more!" Beachpaw strained through little puffs of exertion.

Stars above, Brindlepaw was starting to hate Antpaw. The smaller tom was going about yapping at everycat, ordering them to work like he was in charge and then refusing to help. Ugh ugh ugh. At least Beachpaw was a normal cat and came to help him, and between the two of them they managed to get the branch moving. Beachpaw's call was unnecessary, Brindlepaw was putting all of his strength into the job, and they finally got the branch out of the way. He sort of slumped once it was far enough away from the site for there to be no problem.

Scrambling back to his paws he called Thank you. a bit gruffly, sneezing as he did so. Then he headed back for more, smaller debris, focusing on larger rocks and sticks that he could now, finally, move on his own. @Spider. @Fawn @kittycatburmise @HerbalTea @Badwolf

Beachpaw -

With that nasty one out of the way, Beachpaw resumed the more manageable parts of clearing debris as they caught their breath again and let the burn fade from their muscles. However, it didn't seem to have a lasting impact on their energy levels as they were back to jovially humming while they worked. Inside their thoughts, a casual song formulated: Move the sticks . . . clear away the junk, give the Apprentices' den a sturdy fix, so when we're trying to sleep it doesn't go ka-plunk.

Antpaw pauses, glancing at the apprentice den with some degree of satisfaction. It looked a lot better than how it had looked before. Clear, now, so that it was easy to see and tell the damages done to it. He didn't see much else to do in regards to cleaning now; most of the debris was put aside, and he had gone and thrown away all the dirty moss so that the den was empty.

He looks at the two warriors in camp. Hopefully they would know what to do to rebuild the apprentice dens, cuz Antpaw had no skill or experience, and he guessed the other apprentices were in the same boat, too. "What are we supposed to do now?" He asks Risingstorm and Porcupinesilk, "How do we rebuild the walls?"

(BEAR. said we might have to rebuild the apprentice dens on the other side of the scorched tree, so would like to have your opinions on the matter.)
