The molly's large ears twitched as Baglare spoke, a snort of disdain escaping her. Who the bloody hell just went out on the territory - while breaking clan rules - and brought back the first random berry they found to scarf down on? And yet the fact that Sunpaw had found any death berries at all was alarming. Lightningstorm had explored the territory plenty ever since her memory loss, making herself acquainted with the herbs that grew in different locales. She was mostly guided by a notion similar to instinct that was most assuredly learned, leading her to the correct spots by the ghosts of recollections long gone at the beginning. But by now she knew the lay of the land. Understood what grew and didn't grow here. And death berries were simply not among the few berries that did grow in WindClan territory.
Which meant one of two possible scenarios. An unknown death berry bush was hidden somewhere in WindClan and this moron had somehow found the only viable plant that had just ripened and eaten them, or he had gone out past WindClan territory lines and gathered death berries elsewhere. Considering the tom had been demoted for overly bloodthirsty reasons in concerns to outsiders, she wouldn't be terribly surprised if the tom had left the borders in search of a fight and instead found himself a poisonous little treat, in which case it almost felt like divine justice. After all, it was clear the tom had no regrets about what he'd done. About the events that had led to his fall from grace.
"I'll clean the body for you before you go. I have a moistened moss that is past its prime, anyways. Might as well get one last use out of it to ensure I remove as much of the juice as possible... just in case."
Lightningstorm's nose twitched as she stared at Sunpaw, deep in thought. The medicine cat wasn't a bad tracker necessarily, but it wasn't her specialty. Not being a bad hunter was the same as saying a warrior wasn't terrible at mending an injury. True. The job would be done, but the outcome would always be best left to a specialist. That was why the clan had all the different jobs, she supposed. She could find the death berries just fine, yes. But the smart thing to do here would be to track down Sunpaw's movements before the trail went cold. If Sunpaw had just gotten here with the berries, then finding out where he had gotten them from shouldn't be all to difficult to figure out. Not by someone who had plenty experience on the matter like Batglare, in any case.
"I can take care of the burial if you prefer. Frankly, I'm more worried about what berries might be on the territory. Think the trail would still be fresh enough to follow through his tracks and find the damn bush before it becomes even more of a problem? Or if not at least find out if he passed territory lines to grab them from elsewhere. The best case scenario is that he found them in the outskirts, but if he went to one of the other clan's territories... it's best to be ready for whatever extra problems that little excursion is going to bring, innit?" the herbalist mewed, her voice exasperated as her tail twitched, hoping the tom hadn't been feather brained enough to trespass before dying, bringing even more trouble to the clan than he already had.
