Re: Sleepy Thicket
Adderstrike went out on a short hunt since she was having too much fun recently and needed to get some serious work done. Then she spotted it, a blueberry bush! She took a gleeful walk over from her fruitless hunt to eat some berries. They were close enough to fruits and hopefully it would help her on her hunt, or something.

Re: Sleepy Thicket
Dusklion - RiverClan Deputy
Ever since the bodies had been moved to the abandoned den off to the side, but they hadn't yet officially let go of the thicket, the deputy found herself traveling out here. Whether it was her dream with Hawkstar or the history this place held, Dusklion still felt drawn here. It was a good piece of territory, one that provided prey, herbs, and a spot for introspection.
Picking her way over the recently dug up ground the deputy let her jaw part a bit to draw in the scents around her. Prey nearby, some sweet smelling herbs and - oh. What was that...? Curiosity and a new scent had Dusklion turning to inspect a small patch of plants. A pretty purple color and a scent that made her salivate, the deputy drew closer and breathed in. Oh, stars...
Before she knew it the gray deputy was stretching out and rolling onto the the plants, paws in the air like a kit. Something about whatever this plant was (catmint) felt addicting in a sense. The scent of it, even the feel... She twisted and turned, a smile spreading across her face and a purr rumbling from her as she rolled in the patch of plants and -
...Eventually the deputy blinked and scrambled back onto her paws, shaking out her fur. Right. Prey and herbs. That's what she was here for. Figuring she'd bring back whatever these are, Dusklion plucked the (deliciously tasteful) possible herbs and trotted away.

´´Dusklion?´´ Poppyburst muttered softly, green eyes wide with surprise as she watched her Deputy pad off with.... catmint? ´´Great StarClan..´´ The tortoiseshell whispered. She´d have to take this to Fadingstar and Berrypaw. It was dangerous to eat too much of the herb. Shaking her head, the small-statured warrior picked up her pace - paused beside the catmint to snatch some of it up for Berrypaw´s herb store - and ran to catch up to Dusklion.
[ + 7 Catmint ]
´´Dusklion, wait!´´ Poppyburst called, her curled ears almost flat against her head and her voice muffled against the catmint between her jaws. Slowing as she approached the RiverClan Deputy - pawsteps silent and blending in with the sounds of the forest, Poppyburst set down the catmint she was carrying (hiding it between her paws so that Dusklion couldn´t get to it) and tipped her head to the side. ´´You´re cheerful,´´ The tortoiseshell warrior commented, knowing that it had been the catmint having Dusklion acting like this. ´´In a good mood, perhaps?´´

Re: Sleepy Thicket
Adderstrike Determined ⋆ Loyal ⋆ Lawful Good ⋆ She/Her ⋆ Killer Aptitude T3
“I can fix her!”
@paedyn @constellation
Out into the misty spooky area of sleepy thicket. Adderstrike wouldn't admit it but this area did give her the creeps. Yet now it gave her much less of that feel as she knew all of cat bones were moved, at least those the dirt didn't claim forever. So there had to be less ghost right? That made enough sense. With that Adderstrike shook her head, thinking about ghosts all this time would just distract her from her hunt! Get to work you silly little tiger.
" Split up but don't lose line of sight of everyone, ok?" Adderstrike said looking back to the others. Part of her wondered if this was the best idea in the world but then again if all three of them were attached to the hip, then they would never get any prey. So with that she sniffed out the area. Soon enough a scent was caught in the air, the warrior kept her mouth ajar as she stalked the scent.
Squeak squeak. Slipping into a bush, Adderstrike peered out and saw two rats having a fight over something. Territory? Dominance? Did it really matter? She licked her lips as she waited for the perfect moment to get those rats. They looked so tasty that it made waiting for the right moment annoying. Maybe she should have found some scraps to eat before going out hunting? Maybe something that a kit didn't want to finish—Oh!
Adderstrike sprang out and landed on top of the rats right when they were on top of each other. She dug her claws into the bottom on and teeth into the nape of the top one. Which she flung harshly at a nearby tree. She then finished off the bottom rat. Looking to the tree she saw the limp body. Seems like she estimated her growing strength just right. These fat rats had to be enough right?

Re: Sleepy Thicket
Rosehawk - RiverClan Warrior
Rosehawk´s ears twitched, her blue gaze flicking over to the dug up graves. She hadn´t liked the idea of moving the bodies - which were likely skeletons by now, but she understood why Dusklion did it.
With a wave of her tail, she mewed to the other two cats. ´´We should meet back here around sunset, surely?´´ The warrior´s eyes turned to Adderstrike. Opening her jaws slightly to taste the air, Rosehawk ducked through the undergrowth.
Catching the scent of squirrel - two of them, to say the least, the RiverClanner instantly pinpointed them and crouched. She stalked forward slowly.
[ Rosehawk rolled a 20 - Successful Catches, Clean Kills ]
Springing, Rosehawk landed on one and snapped its neck with a claw to throat whilst her other forepaw pinned the second squirrel to the ground, sinking her jaws into its spine, killing it instantly.
[ + 2 Squirrels ]
Thank you, StarClan, for this prey.
Burying her catches to collect later, Rosehawk padded off in search of more prey.

Floodsight
✦ RiverClan | 21 moons | Mind Reader ; Beefed Up T1 ; empty slot
[ separate day from the patrol happening above ]
"You're right, it would be good to have a head start into Leaf-bare." The silver warrior agreed with a soft tone. The thoughts had sent shivers down her shine. First, a frozen land. Bleak for moons, then comes the storms in Newleaf. Floodsight replied gently with a hint of humour. Or as much as she could muster, "After today, you'll be more in form than most warriors my age~"
Floodsight nodded a small greeting at Poppyburst, before following Blizzardoak out of the abandoned twoleg den. Getting out of that place felt like a breath of fresh air. Nothing beats the feeling of the earth under your paws. The den they were in was weirdly smooth. Not bad, but it was more of an unusual feeling. And with so much twoleg belongings left behind, it felt kind of daunting.
Being outside certainly gave Floodsight some sense of peace. The peace was later reinforced as they walked along the a patch of quiet tree surrounding where Sleepy Thicket was located. And there they were, staring at the quiet woods.

Re: Sleepy Thicket
Wavebreaker
|43 moons|
Mist settled quietly over the cool grass which gave way to Wavebreakers bulk as he pressed forward. He could hear the softer pawpads of Fawnpaw just behind. The wind blew subtly enough to create an eerie low whistling as it passed over branches and foliage which heralded their approach to the lonely thicket. The normally pale green leaves of the forest were a sickly gold color, ready to plummet to the earth with the changing of seasons. The sun which had earlier been present, disappeared behind floating clouds above. The shadows of the trees ahead were visible under the veil of the mist, merely outlines waiting to be revealed. Wavebreaker had intended for Fawnpaw to hunt here so that she could experience finding prey in hiding. The forest held all manner of places for squirrels and mice to shelter themselves, and smells to distract. I might have overdone it. I hope we can find some prey here. Even I might have trouble hunting in this mess.
Wavebreaker opened his maw to catch scents on the wind revealing his long fangs. Thankfully the wind was blowing towards them, it made things easier. Still though it was difficult to tell amidst the heavy moisture in the air, but he thought he smelled squirrel. And he definitely heard the cawing of a crow nearby, despite not finding the scent trail. The large tom turned around just before crossing the boundary into the new territory. Putting his tail straight up, signaling his apprentice to stop. "Fawnpaw please stay close, these are not the best conditions for a hunt. He revealed a hint of concern in his tone before adding more firmly "I'ts fairly easy to for anything to surprise us if we are not care-ful...." The lecturing mentor trailed off. The sound of the crow cawing again made him uneasy. I hate birds, he thought to himself suppressing the desire to flinch or shiver. That owl didn't get him then, and he certainly wouldn't let himself or his apprentice get carried off now.
Wavebreaker suddenly remembered where he was and relaxed a little. I can't be scaring my apprentice on their first real day of training. The tomcat let out a quick breath before resuming his speech. "Anyway I'm going to show you the Hunters Crouch now so watch closely." The dark pelted warrior brought his belly low to the ground, bending his front and back legs as he did so. With his stomach grazing the top of the earth he flattened his tail so that it was just slightly above his body, finally bringing his head down to a nearly identical level. He turned back towards the scent of Squirrel following the trail carefully and quietly each paw crossing over in front of the other. Thankfully he did not hit many crunchy leaves, until finally he saw it resting just below a pine tree. He loaded his body like a spring before blasting after the prey.
His quarry tried darting up the tree but he had managed to snag the creature's tail between his teeth, and he yanked it forcefully from the safety of the wood leaving it dazed. He followed the move by swiftly placing his claws onto the rodent pinning it, before delivering a swift bite to its neck. He padded back to Fawnpaw with a rather plump squirrel hanging from his mouth.

Blizzardoak
|60 Moons|
As he pushed forward into the thicket at the head of the patrol, Blizzardoak consciously paced himself. He could already feel his breathing thicken, and his back left leg ache in protest of the outing. Even so, the old warrior couldn't stop a smile from forming on his face. I didn't realize how sick I was of waiting around in the twolegplace! No more guard duty, no more chasing after runaway kits or Cloudsongs complaints filling the empty shell of a space in the clearing. It had been to long, wayyyy to long since he had allowed himself the freedom of leaving camp to hunt properly. For a long time he had felt relieved being looked down upon and being given more menial duties, but it seemed the passing moons could change a cat. The white warrior felt the other two cats on his heels and picked his pace up slightly.
They had made sure to travel against the wind to mask their scents like any well trained RiverClanners would. The only side effect now being that they now looked more like porcupines due to the heavy gusts that were bouncing in between the empty trees. The pale gold leaves burned in the orange evening light, not quite ready yet to leave the safety of their branches. Blizzardoak gave the air a few passes over his scent glands in search of something to sink his teeth into. To his surprise he picked up the smell of several robins rather quickly. The gaggle was gathered in a tightly packed group, who were poking at the earth. Perhaps looking for seeds or insects. He attempted a controlled stop but his muscles wouldn't listen, and he more or less bumbled to a halt.
Thankfully, the birds had not seemed to notice. He turned his gaze back to his teammates whispering softly, "Lets surround them. His green eyes shimmered excitedly as the gears turning in his wiley old mind hummed for the first time in ages. "Floodsight you take up position behind that rock on their left, Poppyburst you conceal yourself in that bush on the right. The rock he had observed first bore a similar gray completion to Floodsights pelt, while the bush he picked out for Poppyburst had multiple hues. Perfect for her calico pelt, as much as it could be anyway. "I'll wait here behind this tree." He hated to admit it, but the tom knew his obvious white pelt and old age would hurt him more than help him. So he couldn't be the first to approach. Teamwork is the best option here.
Blizzardoak swiveled his head to look directly at Poppyburst. "When you are ready to pounce raise your tail just above your head so we can see you are good to go." His head swiveled Once again back to Floodsight. "Once Poppy gives the signal Floodsight you will lead the charge." Being the youngest, Blizzardoak guessed the grey warrior was likely the fastest. "Poppy as soon as she goes you need to go. I'll join you two immediately after. If we time our attacks right our prey shouldn't have anywhere easy to fly to." As he settled in and waited for the others to get into position, Blizzardoak hoped he had thought of everything. It was the one thing he still had that seemed to be unblemished by time.

Re: Sleepy Thicket
Floodsight
✦ RiverClan | 21 moons | Mind Reader ; Beefed Up T1 ; empty slot
Floodsight nodded at the white furred warrior. That was a good plan indeed. A plan that allowed each of them to use their skills and natural appearances effectively. As expected of a warrior of his age. Smart and had the ability to lead a group of cats with teamwork. A trait that Floodsight wished she'll be able to learn and use effectively one day. The silver molly made her way to the area Blizzardoak spoke about. There was a bunch of stones disarranged, but natural. The perfect camouflage. The colour of the rocks had matched her own pelt; gray, silver, and under the sunlight, a warm cream tone had snuck in.
Floodsight took her position and waited silently.
There! Poppyburst flicked her tail and gave the signal. Floodsight raced towards the tightly rounded birds, and launched herself at one specifically while making sure the others would fly in her clanmate's direction.
[ Rolled a 20 ]
Surprisingly discord rolls were generous today. A perfect catch!
Floodsight pounced down on one of the robins and hit another out of balance before it began it's flight. Swiftly, she'd made a clean kill before taking a glance at the brown wings starting to flutter rapidly in the air.
