Default Wavebreaker of RiverClan WIP

Basics

Current Name: Wavebreaker
Age: 43 moons
Gender: Tom
Sexual Orientation: Hetero

Current Affiliation/Clan: RiverClan
Rank: Warrior
Mentor(s): Blizzardoak

Apprentice(s): Toutedheart- A ginger furred tom with gleaming yellow eyes, whose ears are a light brown at their tips. He has brown tabby stripes rolling across his body and pink paw pads. He was always very optimistic and overzealous in following Wavebreakers ideals, and died a full fledged warrior while trying to save kits during the RiverClan flood under Beanstar.

Shrewpaw- A gray furred She-cat with a white underbelly and inquisitive deep green eyes. Her whiskers were very small and curved around her even smaller pink nose. She was a very intelligent cat who got stuck in the apprentices' den during the flood after letting her Clanmates escape first. Broken down trees blocked her way out. And the den filled with water causing her to ultimately drown and freeze to death.

Fawnpaw- Wavebreakers current apprentice, a unique looking dusty brown she-cat with tall standing ears and pale green eyes. She has a white patch just above her black nose, and another on the end of her bobbed tail.

Interpersonal Connections

Father: Couragestream- He was a striking cat by all accounts. His deep forest green eyes radiated a piercing self confidence. Flecks of sun yellow fur painted his face under his left eye stopping just before the bridge of his darkened nose which were adorned with unusually long whiskers. His large broad body headed by powerful shoulders was lined with deep black fur that could not hide the impressive muscles that would threaten not to be confined by his pelt, Its utter blackness only giving way to the one last touch of that yellow fur at his tails nub.
He vanished when Wavebreaker was only a moon. But most don’t believe he would have disappeared willingly.

Mother : Ripplestep- A she-cat with dark ocean blue eyes, whose light brown fur adorned the top half of her small frame extending all the way up her unusually short tail, which she could never fully curl around her paws. That light brown pelt is intermingled with darker brown splotches all across her, even as her fur turns white below her shoulders. Her tail is ringed with this darker brown. Her ears are dusted with the lighter brown shade save for the tip of her left ear which is coated in that darker brown. Her paw pads are pink. She abandoned RiverClan using Soostars' disappearance as a pretext to escape the abuse of her new mate Leapingfang.

Stepfather: Leapingfang- A tall gangly tom who often hunches with rough unkempt gray/silver fur that forms a small bushy mane around his neck. The center of which hosts a small white patch of fur. His lanky legs reveal at their base that his front left paw is black in color and slightly larger than the other three paw pads which are a petal pink. He has a long face in all respects, boasting an equally impressive nose that slopes down and out, away from the rest of his features. The end of this nose is decorated with coco colored flesh surrounded by thin medium length whiskers. Just underneath rests a crooked yet placid mouth where from protrudes his right fang which is longer than average and often spills from his lips. He will often hide it inside his mouth when trying to impress someone or get his way. Above rests his cold blue eyes in the shape of half ellipses which slant slightly down and in towards the bridge of his nose. Finally at the tip top are his long jackal like ears which are internally lined with ink black streaks on the inside edges. The remaining flesh of the inner ears being a pale gray giving way to sickly pink at its innermost point.

All of these features when proudly displayed give the appearance that Leapingfang is looking down on those beneath him.

Personality/History

Overview: Wavebreakers beginnings would not give the impression he would grow to be the respected tom that he is within the clan today. In fact if all cats knew the challenges he’d faced in his upbringing they’d have considered Wavekit lucky to be anything at all resembling his father. Couragestream was at the very pinnacle of belovedness within RiverClan, and yet like stale rainwater he evaporated from clan life only one moon after Wavekit was born. Wavekit was much too young then to retain any memories from his real father, save for the faint comforting smell of reeds that clung around the nursery from his visits. Within another moon that too had disappeared from the nursery, soon to follow would be his sense of security.

His mother Ripplestream in her mourning and anxiety filled nights wondered how she would bring herself to raise her kit. He looked so much like her mate that it was often painful simply to look at Wavekit. Even as Wavekits conscious thoughts were only beginning to bud into fruitful ideas and emotions, the kit could feel her lack of warmth. A disdain for his existence that brought her painful memories to the surface. Her absence was more than just emotional, she would often take long walks at all hours to simply escape her devastating realities. It was during these walks that Wavekit blind and wanting of a child's simple needs, found the warmth of his mother missing. His struggles however were only just beginning.

It started out amiable enough, but the tall hunched silhouette of Leapingfang would come to darken Wavekits life for several moons. The tom had suddenly jumped into Wavekits family seemingly from nowhere. By his 3rd moon signs were starting to show that all was not well in this whirlwind relationship. A cut here, a bruise there, a twisted paw. The youngster reveling in his new found voice would often ask many questions, “Mom what happened to your paw? How’d you get that cut? What's that dark spot on your face?” Leapingfang was always close by with his long fang tucked neatly behind his crooked lip feigning concern. Cold blue eyes locked squarely on Ripplestream. “Oh, I got a little too excited chasing a vole.” It was always the same. And whenever Wavekit kept asking questions Leapingfang always had some reason or another to keep the kit quiet. ”There are other kits sleeping-your mothers tired-your bothering the queens who are kitting Wavekit. Be a good little warrior and keep quiet.” Always that deep rasping voice was present. For two moons he never saw her without him, always hovering over them. Then one day only he was all that remained.

Just before she left Wavekit had followed the pair and heard snippets of their argument, which took place just beyond the boundaries of camp. It seemed to center around his mother breaking off their relationship. Leapingfang was always careful to keep away from prying eyes and ears, so it wasn’t long before he noticed the would be spy. The warriors demeanor shifted like lighting as he initially verbally accosted Wavekit. The youngster yelled back but soon Leapingfang was tossing him back and forth against hard earth and rocks. Careful never to unsheath his claws. But the worst part was that his mother just watched. Even after the event the shocked kit was merely told by his mother not to tell anyone. That he would cause trouble for her. So it was that she left Wavekit saying she wanted to search for their leader Sootstar who had recently disappeared. She told him that she could not take a kit, that it was too dangerous.

Wavekit wanted to believe her words, believe even that Ripplestep might come back for him some day. Deep down he was afraid to acknowledge the truth. A reality the long face of Leapingfang had no problem conveying through his crooked sneer. The jaded tom had focused his frustrations on Wavekit. His mothers leaving seemed to imbalance the warrior, raising his cruelty to new heights. Wavekit tried to avoid him often, hiding in the dirtplace, escaping from camp, pretending he was asleep. Nothing seemed to matter, nothing seemed to change.

During one escape attempt under the cover of night an owl grabbed him leaving him with a lifelong fear of the birds. He managed to break free but completely lost his sense of direction. Only to be found eventually by his tormentor who let his fang drip menacingly down his jaw and spoke cone chilling words through breathy taunts. “Run as far as you want, little mouse, it will never be far enough. You're just a pushover like your mother. You know Cowards can’t be warriors right?” During those days he often wondered if the owl should have just taken him. He used so much energy just surviving back then that he often wonders if he missed his entire kithood. It didn't seem to matter what he tried or how he tried it Leapingfang would always find a way to take him out to “battle practice”, or “hunting practice”.

Some light returned Wavekits life at 6 moons when he began his apprenticeship under Blizzardoak. The white warrior boasted scars to prove his battle hardened life, but beneath his jetblack paws Wavekit found shelter. On their first day of real training his mentor simply spent the day with him. He asked him if he knew who his father was. Something he’d never had the time to question. And he regaled him with endless tales of a brave and powerful soul who put his clan first. A cat who overcame every obstacle in the face of adversity. Can I really be like that? Wavekit muttered with wavering certainty watching his paws guilt weighing down his heart. Blizzardoak lifted the kits chin with one of his strong dark paws. If you want to be like that, all you need to do is try. It's in your blood after all. Nothing about being a warrior is easy, but that's what makes it worth chasing. The harder your challenges the stronger you can become. If something is difficult it's worth doing.” Blizzardoak gave the small tom direction in life. It was through him he found something resembling a father.

He grew close with his family too. He was always trying to show Iriskit his latest moves, he would boast on and on about his very BIG adventures in the territories. This was often followed by chastising by Pebblestorm Iriskits mother. “Of course Blizzardoak is training you right, what he did not train you to do is leave your pelt looking like a squirrel that's just been frightened up a tree.” The fretful she-cat would rasp at his pelt until his skin seemed raw. “Now go fetch me better bedding, you can get softer leaves can't you?” The young apprentice didn’t mind, at least someone was paying him attention. To Wavepaw he wondered if that wasn’t what love was supposed to feel like. All the while he was progressing well. Each moon that passed was spent from dawn to dusk giving his very best, honing his techniques. Nabbing his prey. Just as Blizzardoak wanted he made it a point to outwork anyone. Even the full grown warriors. Every patrol, every chance to make fresh bedding, or remove ticks he was there. He found other cats wanted to talk to him, and even appreciated his company.

Despite this new rosy backdrop Leapingfang was still casting his long shadows over Wavepaws life. He stoically took any punishment the senior warrior gave him, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of watching him squirm. If Blizzardoak knew about it, he did not say. Steadily though, Wavepaws heart grew more courageous as he thought more and more of his father Couragestream, and the warrior Wavepaw wanted to become. Yet it felt wrong to hope, while Leapingfang smothered his everyday life. Then one moonless night a nameless
