"Yup." The brown furred apprentice elaborated by lifting her paw, showing Bouncepaw the crumpled wings and crushed body of a butterfly beneath her forepaw. It fluttered weakly, then fell still. Burnetpaw had always had a sort of morbid fascination with death and she crouched down, sniffing at it before lifting her nose once again, "It's dead." She proclaimed bluntly before actually seeming to see the apprentice beside her for the first time, "Oh, I'm Burnetpaw." She looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to confirm that he was the cat she thought he was. Another butterfly fluttered close to her and she whipped out a paw, just narrowly missing it.

On a peaceful walk patrolling the territory Crowtooth came across an.... Odd site. Two apprentices playing, which wasnt bad as the deputy didnt see any dangers and they were having fun, but no warriors to speak of either. The toms tone was calm but firm, given the two could very much be in trouble soon, calling them over.


"Burnetpaw. Bouncepaw. Get over here, now. Apprentices aint supposed ta be out alone, where's yer warrior escort, dont tell me ya two are out alone."

"Bouncepaw." Bouncepaw introduces himself to Burnetpaw. Seeing the dead butterfly makes his interest in it wane, and Bouncepaw instead curiously tastes one of the blackberries that fell from the bush behind him. Nope, no idea why mice liked rhis stuff. It tasted weird.

Then Bouncepaw hears Crowbreeze's voice. He jumps up, startled. "Goldenhoney?" He meows, looking around for her. He may have gotten distracted by the butterfly and have wandered a distance from the warrior that he came here with.

Crap, okay, he looks away for a second, and boom, children vanish.

He doesn't take super long to catch their scent.
He caught up to the one he had been with, and there was the another one, aaand Crowtooth.

He shook off some dead leaves that had got caught on his leg.
"Bouncepaw! Burnetpaw! Where'd you two go?" He looked at Crowtooth "Sorry, glad you at least found the kids before I did, ya know, just in case anything crazy happened or something." He looked at the other apprentice "You kids can't just vanish."

Burnetpaw looked up as Crowtooth appeared, her pelt pricking. She hadn't noticed how far away she had strayed from Goldenhoney in pursuit of the strange scents of the moor and wherever Bouncepaw had wandered off to. The pair hadn't spoken on the way out with their escort and then had seemed a good opportunity to talk. She drew a paw over her ear as she kept her gaze fixed on the deputy, "I was with them too. I went looking for Bouncepaw. Sorry."

Alright so there was a warrior in charge present at least, which turned this from a situation where someone would end up grounded or doing punishment to a scolding instead. Which was good for this lot for sure.

Shifting hetrochromatic eyes to Goldenhoney the deputy huffed, rasping a "Goldenhoney next time keep a better eye on the apprentices. Ya were nowhere in sight an' while it clear now not long ago Wolffang was killed by a coyote here so ya can never be too careful.

An' Burnetpaw, Bouncepaw ya shouldnt 'ave wandered off either. Yer off the hook fer now wit' a warnin' but next time ya wont be.

Be safe an' be back by sundown an' such."
Piece said and individuals hopefully chastised Crowtooth nodded before padding off again, continuing his check of the territory.

"I'm sorry, I'll be more careful. Goodbye, Crowtooth." Bouncepaw meows sheepishly. He takes in the scent of the woodland.

Where he wandered was filled with flowers, daises, roses, daffodils... no wonder the butterflies gathered in this place. Even the air was fragnant and sweet. Not only were there butterflies, there were bees too, along with a plethora of other insects. Bouncepaw frowns and swatts a bee away as it gets a little too close. He knew bees stung, and it hurt. Bouncepaw was not looking forward to being red and swollen. "There's so many of them." Bouncepaw mumbles, hissing at the bees who sadly do not understand Cat.

She said nothing as she stared at Crowtooth's retreating form, her mouth set into a mutinous slash across her face. Bouncepaw at least had the dignity to show a little more shame beside her but she had already given the deputy her only apology. Though guilt was swirling inside her for shirking the rules she refused to let any of it show through her tough exterior.

Following Bouncepaw, she turned every so often to check that Goldenhoney was sticking close behind. The sudden appearance of a swarm of bees made her cool persona wobble slightly as she darted backwards and hissed, remembering what she had always been told about how bees could hurt a cat. She had never had the misfortune of feeling their stingers but knowing her luck it was only a matter of time.

Something piqued her attention just then, a tight knot of the buzzing insects had formed around a branch, fluttering in and out of what looked at first glance to be an incredibly big fruit. Burnetpaw hated admitting she didn't know things but in this case it was necessary if she wanted to find out what it was. So she beckoned the others over with a curt flick of her tail to query them, "What's this?"

"Alright, I'll keep a better eye on them!" Goldenhoney said cheerfully to Crowtooth before the deputy left.

Now moving on with the apprentices, he noticed the amount of bees growing as they walked.
He noticed Bouncepaw hiss at some "Careful, they don't usually attack you unless they're threatened, I believe." He chimed in.

Burnetpaw then pointed out something.
Oh.
Ohhhh!
"That's a beehive!" He answered "It's where the little things keep their honey! Honey tastes good, but the medicine cats also use it for.. something."

"So we can just take the honey?" Bouncepaw asks doubtfully. "Won't the bees attack us?"

Goldenhoney mentioned that they didn't attack unless threatened. Did taking honey from their hive count? Whether it did or not, Bouncepaw couldn't imagine the bees would be happy if he went up to them and took their honey. But they were bees, not cats. Maybe they were stupid just like mice?

"Well, I guess there's no time like the present." He mumbles, taking a deep breath.

Bouncepaw walks closer to the beehive, ignoring any bees that come too close. He's a bright yellow color, not black like a bear, so the bees don't react much to him. Or they don't until he dashes forward and uses his claws to dig away a chunk of the hive. As expected, around half of the swarm follow him angrily. There's a stinging sensation in said left paw and his rump, but he's fine for the most part.

Oh, boy. Bouncepaw starts running away, taking in very small breaths so that he doesn't accidentally breathe in a bee. What a nightmare that would be. And good thing he just had running and stamina training with Crowbreeze, or he wouldn't be able to run so fast using only three paws. The bees are fast, but Bouncepaw's getting the hang of things, and the more time passes the more he's able to outrun them.

The bees lose interest in Bouncepaw after he runs for two or three minutes. They return to their hive, leaving Bouncepaw panting with his golden prize in his left paw.
