He did it! He unbalanced his mentor! Now for an attack. Bouncepaw climbs back on all four feet and launches himself at Bluestrike, adrenaline and excitement running through his body. His front paws are raised to swat and rake against his mentor, though of course, the claws are in.
[Bouncepaw rolls a 9]
Bluestrike unsheathes his claws before sheathing them again, feeling the wet earth beneath his claws. He flattened himself against the ground, preparing for an attack.

Seeing Blustrike prepared makes Bouncepaw much more nervous. He's landed behind his mentor now, barely- his mentor is much bigger than him. Bouncepaw tries again, but it's harder to hit his mentor because he's so low to the ground. He'll have to copy that next time.

Bouncepaw uses his hind legs to kick his mentor as hard as he can. He isn't pulling punches, not when he knows he has a disadvantage.

Bluestrike jerked from Bouncepaw's grip, then relaxed, letting himself go limp.
[rolls a 20]
Bluestrike ducked, and rolled onto his back. He watched his apprentice go flying over him before springing up and onto him.

Bouncepaw lies down on the ground, resting for a few moments. He really needed to work on his stamina too, he notices. There were a lot of things the apprentice needed to learn.
"A hunt sounds good. I'm just worried that our fight might have scared away all the prey," Bouncepaw meows, glancing around their surroundings in search of them. But all he can smell is his sweat.

Bluestrike pricked his ears. There had to be something around here.

"Maybe we should go further out?" Bouncepaw suggests. If their fight had indeed scared the prey away, they should look for another spot to hunt. For example, maybe near the direction of the water, or between the trees.
He stands up and pads there, and sure enough, as they get closer, Bouncepaw can hear colorful, active rustling and hear birds chirping.

Bluestrike followed his apprentice and smelled the air. There was a mouse somewhere around! What do you smell? He asked Bouncepaw, taking advantage of a chance for learning.

[Bouncepaw rolls a 20]
"I smell mice," Bouncepaw meows, his tone much more confident than last time. "More than one, a family, over in the thicket, and a thrush and sparrow under the hawthorn trees." He points using his tail towards the direction of the animals.
"And..." Bouncepaw frowns, trying to make out the exact location. The smell is faint, so faint it might as well not be there, but he can hear tiny rustles from a distance, "A rabbit, maybe? But I don't think it's nearby."
It'll be smarter to head for the mice, Bouncepaw decides. And this time he'll show his mentor that he could hunt well.
