"Maggotpaw, Maggotpaw!" Bouncepaw meows, in a smaller voice than his sister or the surrounding cats. His expression isn't particularly cheerful either. He wasn't very good with happy, social events.
Sedgekit and Whistlekit also observe Maggotkit becoming an apprentice. It doesn't bother Sedgekit, and he starts chanting along, but Whistlekit only stares at the apprentice with curiosity. She could tell his discomfort in becoming an apprentice, and how he clearly isn't happy. He didn't appear scared or nervous, more... annoyed? She wonders what the reason could be.
He was such fun to play with, it was a shame they couldn't see each other in the nursery anymore. Whistlekit clicks her tongue in disappointment before following along with the rest of the cats to yowl his name prettily.

So, a new apprentice, two reassignments, and....a question? Fadingdawn´s ear twitched with anticipation as she called her apprentices over to her side in a hushed voice. ´´Cardinalpaw, Fleetpaw!´´
As if his silent cry for help had been answered, strawberrykit appeared out of no where and greeted him with a headbutt. One which he didn't shy away from, atleast this one time. “I wasn't alones, I was following you!” he responded trying to sound grumpy but was too relieved too. He suddenly felt so much better having his sister here. He still didn't want to be near so many other cats but as long as he had someone as important as straw near him he could handle it. “In um not lost, jus cant see past all these strangers” he added in defence. “and I need no protecting” lies lies lies. He did! He wasn't going to admit that though, he didn't want to be seen as a scaredy kit needing to be looked after.
"whos the scary cat yous were talkings too?" he asked tilting his head to the side displaying his curiosity. “and why'd they look...” he didn't know the word to describe them, so instead he indicated to the closest resembling thing. The scary cat standing in the old tree. She had begun speaking now and everyone seemed to be paying close attention. Weird.

Setting to work trying to groom Jags' mess of fur (silly boys, Seedling n Dino always had better fur), Strawberrykit listened to her brother's rambling in relative silence. Papa always did this! Licked their fur! Maybe it was what big cats did to small cats. And Strawberrykit was the biggest cat! From her littermates, that was. She was the oldest.
"Okay Jags." She hummed as he protested about not needing protection. It didn't matter anyway. He didn't get an opinion because Strawberrykit was going to look after them anyway. "Why'd they look what, Jags?" Strawberrykit asked, pausing in her struggle to get a knot out of his fur to peer over her shoulder at the big cat she'd just left behind. "Scary? He not scary, he said I bite him and make him have missing bits later. See, Jags! I learn to bite! Hard!" She already had quite a strong jaw and sharper fangs, heaven forbid someone show her how to utilize these properly. "Anyway, he not important."
Huh, only one child this time. And the child didn't look too happy about it either. That was weird, normally the little mites were hyperactive in their eagerness, bouncing about and up and down as they sought to be the first to receive their new names. Regardless, Deadmoon cheered for Maggotpaw. Maggotpaw, Maggotpaw! she called, realizing perhaps too late that the name it had been given might contribute to it's reluctance to be in front of the clan. Those with such names might opt to change them in their warriors ceremonies, like Ashfeather had done. Twistedpaw might do the same, she didn't know. She had opted to keep her given prefix, though perhaps she regretted it now. It had been chosen and kept in loathing, her mothers for her and her own for herself. But she had it now, everyone knew her by it, there was no way it would be switching about now.

It squirms. This really is the worst. Maggotk—paw, Maggotpaw, isn't shy by any means, but it doesn't like this one bit. So many cats all hollering a name it doesn't want, taking its old name away, reminding it that it doesn't get to be Maggotkit for forever. Maggotkit is a dead-thing, now. It's gone off somewhere with Ribbit-Frogkit and Whiterabbit's other kittens. Maggotpaw squeezes its eyes shut, ears pressing down flat, and for a moment it even holds its breath. It's trying to will its ears and tail and fur to all pop right off. If the maggot in the maggot story could grow little kit whiskers and little kit feet so easily, then surely it could go right back to just being a maggot again. It had had its fun as a kitten for a while, but now things are starting to feel a little too serious and no thank you.
Only, it doesn't lose its fur or its tail or even its petulantly flattened little ears. It just keeps standing there, named Maggotpaw, going blue in the face out of sheer childish rage. "........fwu—uuh," aaaand, exhale. It's all over now—that's the silver lining. The only one. Maggotpaw inches back from the roots of the Galewood, shooting a quick and baleful look at the first few faces it catches sight of—Goldenhoney, Lightningpaw, Fallenkit—before it nearly topples over in its escape, nearly falls right at Whisperinghive's paws.
Maggotpaw bows up at the warrior and its first instinct, in that moment, is to hiss at him.
Summerpelt huffed, looking over at Blueberrykit."just a few more moons and you'll be ready, Blueberrykit."
Although, something deep down told him something bad might happen on his apprentice ceremony. And he pushed that feeling down, standing up and cheering for the new apprentice with newfound energy.
