“If course.” he nodded in acknowledgment for the apprentices thanks. The slower pace didn’t bother him at all either. He had been getting more achy recently, perhaps cause of his lot of walking and recovering from the mountain terrain. “Alright kiddo—how bout you stand in the shallows while I demonstrate deeper in? It will get you used to the water, and should only get your paws wet.” he offered, stepping into the shallows himself.

Dewpaw eyed the water, carefully stepping her way in. She shuddered at the feeling of the water, before relaxing. It felt nice on her paws, soothing. She could only imagine what it could feel like on the rest of her. Her ears perked, listening for Rowanmane. She had a soft smile on her face.

It was relieving to finally be back in the fresh, familiar water, though he was worried his skill may have faded away a bit as well. “K—so, swimmin is kinda like walkin’, but ya push off the wa’er. Ya gotta try n’ make solid, even pushing movements wit’ ya legs so ya stay even n’ balanced.” the warrior did his best to explain it as he had never before. Dewpaw nodded. A thought popped into her head, she shook it away. "Let me know when I should start tryin'." She mewed. She still sort of see the water, which was refreshing to know. Her eyes were still pretty terrible, though. She sat in thought, taking the movement in. She even tried it a little bit with her legs, using one leg to kick and the others to hold herself up.

He got used to the water first, which was at first cold but now turned refreshing for him. He eventually reached right where his paws couldn’t touch the bottom of the stream, getting used to the feeling of swimming so he could help spot his apprentice whenever she did. Oh the water was so nice though, and it felt so much more comfortable and he felt the true feeling of being home again. “Alright, come in at your own pace.” he ordered, going back to where he could touch so he could watch easier.

Dewpaw slowly made her way further in the water. It felt nice on her sunburns. Cool and soothing. Once she managed to reach an area deep enough for her to swim, she kicked her legs. It was clumsy and awkward, much like how a kit would swim. But, she stayed calm. At least on the outside. Internally she was panicking, praying she didn't sink. Kicking and kicking. She was doing okay, she was floating at the very least. She would definitely do better with practice. Splash.. Splash.. Splash. She awkwardly swam around until she felt like she was going to sink. She made her way back to where her paws could touch. The apprentice had a big smile, "How was that? I'm a bit tired from it, felt myself startin' to sink.'

Make sure when ya swim t’ stay calm! If ya panic in wa’er, it’ll only drag ya down!” he instructed carefully. “Once ya get better, ya won’ tire as easily.” he shared, still very proud of the young cat. “We can relax for a bi’ and ya can get used to the feelin’ of water!”

Dewpaw happily splashed around, "Alright!" She rolled onto her back, getting the cold water on the worst of her sunburn. It felt real nice. Eventually, she rolled back to her feet, moving to a shallower spot to relax. "Thank you so much for teaching me." She purred. Her blurry vision was locked onto Rowanmane.
