Re: Gathering for Tales
Ashkit shivered. Did the temperature just drop? No, he was probably just imagining it, right? At first he thought that the story wants to scary. But that changed. Now it was starting to get scary. The kit instinctively took a step near the cat that was nearest to him, which was Daffodilpaw.

"I don't think I like the mist anymore." Bouncepaw meows to himself, tucking his tail onto the top of his paws to turn into a ball. "I'm never going out alone again."
It wasn't really the story itself that was scary, more Duckthroat's presentation of it. Maybe he'll use it to scare some kits later, that would be fun. Bouncepaw looks around, sees the other kits and cats also being scared, and instantly feels a lot better over his own whimpers of fear. This was normal, he tells himself. Nothing would jump at him, nothing would take him away into the mist, it was all just a story.

Re: Gathering for Tales
Daffodilpaw l Agatha Kitty [ACTIVE] l Heightened Perception (smell) [ACTIVE] l WindClan apprentice l she/her Daffodilpaw gladly curled her tail protectively around Ashkit. Just when she thought the story couldn't get any worse... "But why?" She asked Duckthroat. "Why won't Mistwalker go to StarClan? Will StarClan not accept them?" She could feel her heart breaking for Mistwalker. "Surely going to StarClan is more peaceful than haunting the living?"
She looked up at her brother Bouncepaw, eyes wide with fear. Not just as the ghost aspect of the story, but of the possibility that a cat might be stuck unable to get to StarClan.

Re: Gathering for Tales
Crowtooth
Windclan Tunneler/Fury | He/him | 50 Moons
Power Card: Cold Gust
Hmmm? Oh well look at that he had a little addition today! Snagging Crowkit before he could fall off of the older toms paws and onto the ground the tunneler deposited his nephew between his paws, rasping a tongue over his head. He was still kinda getting used to the kitten thing, scary stories were appropriate right?
..... Yeah the tom had no clue and so, hoping he wouldnt be met with a stare of disapproval for accepting a kit into this rather then sending him off post haste Crowtooth looked up at Deadmoon. Was this allowed? Did she even know more about kittens then him (though that wasnt hard given his very limited knowledge).
Eh, he wasnt cruel enough to shoo off his mini-me nephew especially given his mothers situation. A little scare would do Crowkit good, if it even succeeded, Crowtooth wasnt really ruffled yet personally.
"Well howdy mini-crow, yer full o' energy today!" Where did all that energy come from even? It didnt stop. "Well itty-bitty-bird normally when theresa large group o' cats its either an' event, like this or a meetin' if they're gathered under that big tree.
Thats the galewood an' meetin's are when Twilightstar makes kittens inta apprentices an' apprentices inta warriors an' announces clan news among other thin's.
Events are more.... varied but this one is a story! I usually tell history stories an' fairly frequently but I honestly don' know if Duckthroats is true. Its scary fer some cats though! So shhhhhh an' listen if ya wanna or Duckthroat might make ya clean her ticks! Oh, say Hi ta Deadmoon first though, shes a friend."
A true threat from what Crowtooth remembers of his apprentice duties....

she/her | blind warrior | 32 moons Ah, this was an event for Snowblind! There was no one more fun to hang around than Duckthroat to the blind she-cat; she'd been pulling his tail for stories since she was merely a kit, lost in sorrow as her vision faded so early in her life. Now, she sat with her paws neatly tucked under her, glassy eyes closed as she purred, content with just silently listening to the cats exchanging tales.

Re: Gathering for Tales
Ashkit nodded at what Daffodilpaw said. “Did Mistwalker do something bad to not be allowed in StarClan?” he asked.

Re: Gathering for Tales
Duckthroat
106 Moons
He/Him They/Them
Duckthroat nodded at the cat's questions mostly about why Mistwalker was forced to roam the plains and to be quite honest he wasn't sure as this was a tall tale told by an elder when he was an apprentice though he would need to make an explanation quick "Jealousy plagued Mistwalkers kin and his heart he never truly followed the warrior code and from that night on, WindClan spoke of the Haunting Mist with a mixture of fear and reverence. They say that on foggy nights, when the wind howls mournfully across the heath, Mistwalker's spirit prowls still, a cautionary specter to those who would let jealousy and darkness taint their loyalty.
The tale of Mistwalker spread like wildfire among the Clan, each telling adding its own layer of eeriness and caution. Elders recalled ancient prophecies warning of spirits bound to the moors, restless and vengeful. Apprentices exchanged nervous glances during their patrols, half-expecting to catch a glimpse of Mistwalker's ghostly form among the swirling mist.
But it was not just the apparition that haunted their thoughts. Stories began to surface of other cats lost to the fog—warriors who ventured too far into the mist and never returned, their cries swallowed by the whispering shadows. Some claimed to have seen eyes gleaming from the darkness, heard faint whispers carried on the wind, warning of impending doom.
As the moons waxed and waned, the mist seemed to grow thicker, its tendrils reaching deeper into WindClan territory. Elders cautioned against venturing out alone, and warriors walked with tails entwined, seeking solace in the warmth of camaraderie. Yet, despite their vigilance, the sense of unease lingered like a storm cloud on the horizon, waiting to unleash its fury.
One moonless night, when the mist hung heavy over the moors like a suffocating blanket, a gathering was called at the Great Rock. Warriors, apprentices, and elders alike gathered beneath the watchful eyes of StarClan, seeking guidance in the face of mounting fear.
It was then that an elder, his fur silvered with age and wisdom, stepped forward with a resolve that belied his frailty. "Listen well, young ones," he began, his voice a steady beacon in the darkness. "The Haunting Mist is not just a tale spun to scare the timid. It is a reminder of the dangers that lurk within and without."
With trembling voices, the elders recounted tales of bravery and betrayal, of spirits lost and souls redeemed. They spoke of Mistwalker's torment, his restless spirit a testament to the power of loyalty and the perils of envy.
"We must honor those who came before us," the elder declared, his gaze sweeping over the assembled Clan. "We must remember that our strength lies not just in our claws and teeth, but in our hearts united as one."
And so, under the blanket of stars and the watchful eyes of their ancestors, WindClan swore an oath—to stand together against the darkness, to guard against the lure of jealousy, and to cherish the bonds that held them fast.
As the gathering dispersed and the mist began to dissipate, a soft breeze whispered through the reeds, carrying with it a sense of peace and resolution. The elder exchanged knowing nods, their hearts lighter with the knowledge that the tale of the Haunting Mist would live on as a beacon of courage and unity for generations to come.

Bouncepaw yawns. He has no idea why, but as the story continues, he's starting to feel sleepy and tired instead of scared. He curls up, struggling to keep his eyes open and listen to the elder.
"How horrible..." He murmurs. "Mistwalkers..."
