Echopaw sat in the clearing messing with a bunch of grass bellow his paws pulling it out of the dirt and holding it in his maw he looked around with his blue tinted eyes to see his mentor rookfire ... maybe they could do some training that could be fun or maybe the enforcer is to busy to train him echopaws looked back down at the ground now tugging at another piece of grass his black tail tapped the ground as he looked around at the other cats no cat was looking at him good good he didn't like cats looking at him or making eye contact it just made him feel weird he didn't know how to describe it but It made his fur bristled and he would have a out burst every time the black apprentice sat up better more straight then before he looked back at his mentor and opened his mouth to speak but closed it nevermind,nevermind he thought no need to bother them no need he ripped up another piece of grass holding it in his maw

two apprentices, two apprentices, rookfire had somehow gathered himself two apprentices to train, besides enforcer activities. he supressed a sigh, quietly hoping this would mean he wouldnt have to run after any other apprentices for the moment being, and cursing himself for hating hunting and never actually trying that hard. since that ought to be the least enjoyable lesson, he might as well get it out of the way. with another quick glance back to the dimly lit medicine den, the enforcer stepped into the clearing, warm midday light flooding the clearing, speckled through thick forest and fighting the heavy shade for space. his apprentice was easy to find, not really because he was familiar with the apprentices face but mostly because he was sitting pretty much in the middle of his field of vision and stood out dark against the greenish backdrop. "get up echopaw, we are going hunting" perhaps this was good. maybe he needed the practice. perhaps this could be his chance to practice his flaying. the apprentice needed some extra training besides the basics anyway..

echopaw looked up from the grass he was messing it and dropped the clump in his maw his lilac eyes looked at his mentors muzzle he didn't dare look at their eyes "Okay.." he meowed softly standing up

rookfires apprentice was a lot more timid than he wouldve liked, minorly unsure how to approach a quiet cat like this but ultimately just deciding to run this the same he would for any other, more motivated, apprentice. white tipped paws carried him out of camp quickly, shoulder feeling well enough to not hinder his walking anymore even whilst keeping up a brisk pace "we are going of the basics today, then both catch a few pieces of prey before organising a nice rabbit or squirrel to do some flaying. i hope you havent eaten yet." the enforcer explained on the way, soon coming to a halt in a shaded clearing, large pine trees stretching shadows across the deep green grass and leaving few sunny spots. it was relatively cool and moist, bits of dew still clinging to the individual shards of grass and transferring to their fur.
"first up, hunters crouch. replicate this" rook has dropped into a crouch, striped tail held above the ground and large frame compact into a small space, shoulder movement noticable through short, dark pelt as he moved around the space lightfooted and careful. after a while, he had to give his apprentice the chance to do what they were told anyway, he continued. "you'll need to practice this for a while to get good, but i dont have that much time so we are moving on to pouncing now. once youre close enough to your prey, push yourself off the ground with your hind legs and try to land with your front paws either on or close to your prey. like this" since there wasnt really prey just here to pounce on, rook instead chose a leaf to demonstrate the motion, before leaving echopaw to try himself.
"now, a few more things about hunting. be aware of the wind, if it blows your scent towards your prey you'll go home empty handed, dont want too long to pounce, be aware of your surroundings, yada yada that kinda stuff. go practice actual hunting now. start with mice and smaller animals. and with that the large tom turned to look for some squirrels or rabbits to show his apprentice flaying later.
