Hey hiya everyone!
If youre reading this you either stumbled upon it or were linked here because you were assigned to a patrol by Crowtooth! This is partly for me as a reference but also for everyone if youre confused and want help! If you still have questions feel free to ask it below and Ill get to it when I can!
General patrol info:
Patrol timing: Once a month (generally around the end) I will send out patrols with Crowtooth for the maintenance of border markings and/or the prey store, occasionally tacking on herbs though generally that is our lovely
medicine cats (who has her own protocol) wheelhouse.
How to get on a patrol: I will generally ask for volunteers on the official discord server, but if you dont watch that closely or arent on it and want to 'dibs' a slot just vm me you wanna be on a patrol and Ill put your name on a list! However often I will just chose names off of the allegiances to fill space and give everyone a chance to do some patrolling.
Dont have time or cant do the patrol for some ooc or ic reason? I
totally accept asking to be removed/replaced, I just need to be
asked. Im not a telepath sadly, if youre on an unannounced hiatus and get in trouble for not being here to do a patrol I cant excuse that sadly. Soooooo
To get excused from a patrol: You need to have your characters approach Crowtooth in character
as soon as possible so they can be replaced. Delaying this only messes things up for your patrol mates and means I have to give extensions which can really disrupt flow. Crowtooth accepts any excuse (twisted paw, sleepy, prior plans, allergies, anything) so do not worry about getting in trouble IC, though he might be snippy if you delay coming forth for too long.
Patrol due dates: Patrols generally have a due date 10 days after being assigned with a 3 day buffer after that to ask for extensions. Id prefer to be asked before however I get things come up so if you ask for, and get granted, an extension within those three days post due date you wont be in any trouble.
I
will send out a courtesy reminder of the due date approaching to everyone who hasnt completed 1-3 days before the due date~
Patrol prompts: I
love to add little optional patrol prompts to patrols! As stated they are optional, just little world events to make things interesting you can do that could be fun! However, sometimes for plot reasons we want something specific to happen, so if you see a red Mandatory Patrol Prompt then it
must happen (and hopefully be reported) during the patrol.
Hunting patrols: These patrols are to collect prey! A cat can carry up to 5 pieces of prey by themselves unless they have The Collector purrk, which bumps it up to 8, however if theyre inexperienced its normal and expected to gather less then full. On this patrol have your cat track, hunt, and catch prey in any way you wish for as many posts as you wish and head home!
Border patrol: These patrols are to check the border! Read over the last couple of pages of posts here and look for anything out of the ordinary your cat can discover. Did someone get murdered recently? Maybe your cat finds blood, the body, or scents to alert the clan! Is there an outsider or someone crossing the border? Chase them out! These patrols can tell leadership if something is brewing in other places and so are critical so keep a sharp eye on what everyone else is doing here of late~ Just be sure to scent mark it before you go to tell everyone windclan is watching~
Reporting your patrol: Once youre done with the patrol all you need to is report it and youre done! Only one cat needs to do this, and generally theyre the patrol lead, but more can tag along if you wish! Inform Crowtooth of anything of interest youve found, any prey youve hunted, and if anyone wasnt pulling their weight in your patrol and you'll be thanked soundly and dismissed to have fun with the rest of your day! Job done!
Id personally advise that
every member of the patrol checks the
Windclan Burrow day of/day after the due date to check the patrol has been reported by the patrol lead. If they haven't you might want to post there with your cat reporting in their stead to not get in trouble with them.
What to do if a patrol member does not show?
It happens sometimes, a patrol lead or member do not show or drops the roleplay mid way through and leaves you in the lurch. When that happens its kind of up to you on how you respond, however I recommend that after 48hrs of when they should've responded to bump them via vms. After another 24 hours if theres no response move on without them and simply report the issue to keep the patrol moving.
If your character is an apprentice with no warriors left, naturally the patrol cannot go on so have your character go to Crowtooth asap so he can handle things and so your apprentice stays outta trouble~
How to work the clan storage
Ok the storage is a nightmare but heres the gist. Either at the beginning of your patrol or near the end (this is dependent on user preference) one member of the patrol (generally the patrol leader) creates the patrol record in the clan. Once the patrol roleplay is complete gathered prey or herbs are added to the store and the patrol is complete!
Step by step guide:
Navigate to windclans page by clicking the pretty 'Windclan' button under the main Warrior Cats Online banner.
From there under clan news you should see a button with a paw print that says 'Patrol Menu' next to 'Clan Relations'. Click the Patrol Menu.
In the patrol menu near the top with a fish icon theres a button that says 'Add patrol' click that.
Fill out the form, and set the status as 'Active' and link the post of Crowtooth assigning the patrol as the patrol starter and hit submit.
Once the patrol is complete go back to the thread this has created and hit 'Edit'. Add the prey or herbs youve gathered in the 'Resources the patrol returned with (separate with commas):' section, alter the status to complete and youre done!
Failure to Complete
It happens, sometimes things go wrong but failing to complete a patrol is not the end of the world as Crowtooth runs make up patrols before he issues punishments!
- After the 3 day grace period/patrol extensions Crowtooth will call over all individuals who havent completed their patrols. These cats have 4 days to gather and failure to do so will move the individuals in question onto punishments.
- Cats who do gather will be assigned Flash Patrols! These are more loose in nature as warriors are sent out to hunt solo (or in groups if they wish) while apprentices will go on a make up patrol with Crowtooth or a trusted Fury.
- These patrols will have 5 days to complete and no post order where: Warriors are to do 3 posts to hunt, gather 5 pieces of prey, and submit them to the prey store by the due date. Apprentices are to do 3 posts following the patrol lead either gathering herbs, hunting prey, or marking orders dependent on the leads orders and the lead will submit to the prey store on the due date.
- You do this and you are released with no further issues! It isnt hard as these will be laid out so you can knock these posts out in a single day and there is not a length requirement, so dont worry!
- However failure to appear to the make up patrols or complete them will move you on to punishments.
Punishments are standard now, being a 2 week in character and out of character demotion down a rank and confinement to camp + an assigned chore that must be completed before ones old rank can be resumed. The task can range from den improvement, to elder care, to moss cleaning, but you will be informed of the task via a message on your cats allegiance thread that looks like below.
Be warned however, as ending up in punishment too many times or staying in it for too long will lead to a talk about ones status in the clan.
Go forth and have fun with your patrols! If you have any questions put them down below and Ill do my best to answer promptly!
