Padding towards the sound of Fadingstar's strained voice, the handsome russet tom approached the clearing amongst his clanmates and sat on his haunches to listen intently to what Fadingstar had to say. Foxleap's lips curled into a snarl and his honey colored eyes flashed with fury at the mention of Ashensplash. He would respect Fadingstar's request and Dusklion's wish... but it would be hard to resist the urge to nab a few swipes at her with his claws. Foxleap couldn't understand why she would do such a thing, but then again what was there to understand? She is cold and heartless for attempting her own clan leader's life, especially during a time like this. His brown ears flattened against his head, claws digging in the earth beneath him in frustration. His heart ached for Fadingstar, how could he trust anyone ever again after that attempt on his life?
But after news of Mistyshard broke, Foxleap held his head up and shouted her name in honor, "Mistyshard! Mistyshard!" Sure, it may be a difficult time to be down one Medicine Cat, but Foxleap recognized how hard the she cat had been working to keep RiverClan afloat the last several months. He wasn't accustomed to Medicine Cat practices, but he imagined it hadn't been easy. Even now, noticing Berrypaw's anxiousness anytime she spoke to the clan. But Foxleap had no doubt Berrypaw will grow into the role.
Ravenpaw looked up at Redmire with some concern. She was far too young to truly have an opinion on Mistyshard, and she didn't really grasp why her mentor was so upset herself. She lightly touched her tail to Remire's shoulder, eyes questioning and concerned.
Rainpaw frowned, she couldn't help feeling bad for Berrypaw. Mentally, she decided to reach out to her and try to help her as much as she could. She didn't want Berrypaw to feel overwhelmed. She looked around at her clanmates as some cheered, but she hunched her shoulders and said nothing. She didn't want to cheer and earn the scorn of so many, although she didn't quite understand why her clanmates were so upset by Mistyshard's being allowed to stay. It made perfect sense to her to allow a pregnant queen to raise her kits here and give them a chance.

Irisdream's tail-tip twitched thoughtfully. She wasn't sure what help she could be, but she knew that a good warrior would do whatever they could. Even if that meant only being able to go one extra herb-gathering patrols. She was resolute, she would do what she could to support her clan through this difficult time. Glancing around her clanmates, she mentally scoffed at their bickering. What a scene they were making of themselves. What did it matter what they thought? Their leader had made a decree. And it's just...uncouth to get that worked up over something like this.
As if to make a point, she quietly drew her paw to her muzzle and licked her paw before drawing it over her face to clean her face calmly. She was going to make a point of not letting herself get drawn into this debate.
Moonpaw looked extremely tired, Grimpaw looked slightly more dizzy than usual, the paranoia in Crowglow's eyes was evident, and Silentstrike seemed to be more emotionless than usual.
So, Ashensplash really was still alive. Being dissatisfied was one thing, but going so far as asassination... She must've fled before Fadingstar got the chance to tell Dusklion who attempted to take his life. It was...sickening. To say the least. And even more so if she simply ran away without wanting to face the consequences of her own actions. It was something that seems almost always happens when someone does something they're not supposed to. Fadingstar had stuck longer than any of the more recent past leaders, and riverclan was slowly healing. Couldn't have she gave it a chance? Gosh, what is wrong with this clan...?
Fadingstar announces Mistyshard's resignment as medicine cat. So there was a reason why she's been absent. The briefly turned their head and looked at the rest of the crowd. Still no Mistyshard in sight. Unfortunately. If Mistyshard steps down, that'd mean more work for Berrypaw. Sure they were getting a new medicine cat, but Berrypaw's knowledge on herbs would've already been more vast if they were to guess. So Berrypaw would still have to work with a mentor with less knowledge than she does. They just have to hope that whoever gets picked, it'll be someone willing to put the effort to learn as much as possible and do their work. At the very least Mistyshard could pass her current knowledge from her time as medicine cat to the new one

Her ears fell back, and a sad face watched the clearing so she didn't have to look at Misty. Now she was sure. She was having her babies, and she didn't have time for her and Elderkit anymore... they weren't their kits. And Dusklion, too, who had helped her rescue them, didn't show any interest in the duo.
As she thought so, she tried to keep back the tears that threatened to show her feelings. No... She whispered, willing to run inside, far from Mistyshard's nest in a dark corner to crouch down. Alone... Elderkit, we are alone..

Aspenpaw was late to the meeting, a meeting! How could this happen? It could be important and what had he been doing? Stuffing his belly with prey that's what! He had heard the initial call and told himself he would join the crowd after finishing the bird he had been eating buy then he'd also started to daydream of returning back home. Being able to go back to lionsbeach again, he got so caught up in his daydreaming he had forgotten there was a meeting going on. Something he was supposed to listen too!
Too embarassed to push through the crowd of cats, who were here on time, and go find one of his friends. He instead made his to the back of the crowd trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible, he drew his tongue over his maw in attempt to get rid of any leftovers. With a sigh, he plopped down into a slouched sitting position and strained his ears in the direction of Fadingstar. It was good to see his clan leader hadn't died and survived the attempted assination but it was disappointed-- no furious to hear that the cowardly traitor still breathed. He did know the warrior personally, she didn't even deserve the title! If he saw her he'd make sure he dragged her back to dusklions so she could deal with crowfood eater.
Aspenpaw Wasa bit surprised to hear that Mistyshard was stepping down and that she was pregnant but he believed that Berrypaw would do a great job as the sole medicine cat even if she was without a mentor! It wasn't like riverclan needed more kits but it was still something to be appreciated in aspenpaw's opinion. Soon the nursery will have more kits ready to become apprentices! That's good for riverclan. Speaking of which, aspenpaw hadn't realised he'd sat down close to the nursery until he noticed a familiar kit sitting near him.
He hadn't interacted with starrykit when he had still been in the nursery but he'd seen her around a couple times. It was strange to think his former denmates weren't his denmates any longer. Reaching out with his tail, he nudged the she cat not much smaller than him, well he wasn't the size of a kit but like it wasn't that much of difference. "hey there--- you okay?" he asked, concern lacing his words when he noticed the kits expression.
What had happened, did something in the meeting cause starrykit to be sad? What-- was it maybe about fadingstar almost being assassinated!? It must be! It probably scares her to hear that the traitor was still alive too! "Hey, uh don't worry about ashensplash. That traitor won't set paw back here and risk dying to the claws of every cat! 'n don't worry about our other clanmates. If they're traitors, they'll not be able to do anything with how alert we are now!" Aspenpaw said trying to reassure starrykit. He didn't have any clue what was actually bothering and he was just assuming.

Berrypaw nearly jumped when Fadingstar first called her name; she'd been so much in a daze that she'd hadn't even noticed Weepingpaw's cough. Ducking her head, she gave a nod as her skin burned like fire under her fur. Way to go, Berry... especially after the news Mistyshard had told her a bit ago...
The small, dark brown she-cat's paw pads prickled uncomfortably as Fadingstar's announcements went on, knowing all too well of what he was going to say next. Anxiously shuffling her paws (as per her nervous habit), she immediately averted her green eyes to the ground. There it was, now everyone knew... she swallowed against a tightening throat, a myriad of emotions simply twisting into a nervous, dejected expression as she avoided the plethora of eyes that turned her way, suddenly feeling... much, much smaller.
She was the sole healer... stars, how did this happen? She'd known Misty was pregnant and that it would detract from her duties, but when her mentor had admitted that she was stepping down for good... her whiskers twitched as she tried to contain her emotion. She'd looked up to Mistyshard so much, relied on her steady strength and nice, calm demeanor... the silver feline had been both her first warrior mentor before she'd been promoted, and then had paw-picked Berry for this role because she'd believed in her. Saw promise in her. And that was still there, but now... now, Misty would be gone. Not from the Clan, thankfully, but from the medicine den for good. Berrypaw's heart ached at the thought of it, being alone in there, having no one to rely on... she still felt so unqualified, like there was still so much to learn, that she was the last cat who should hold the entire Clan's healing on her small, weak shoulders... she wasn't even experienced enough to get her own full name...
...And yet, despite all of that, Berrypaw was all on her own.
Of course, she had cats looking out for her, cats who believed in her; she certainly appreciated Fadingstar's protection through it all, as well as Dusklion's — both of the higher ranks had made their support clear, and looked like they'd claw the ears off any cats who'd dared to look at her too funny. That was... much appreciated, really. Berry wasn't quite sure how she'd be able to handle really any criticism on her own, being that she was only a few steps away from imploding just at the news itself. She did her best to control her breathing, the maelstrom of emotions making her anxious head spin. No, no, c'mon, Berry. Calm down. Focus. You knew this was happening. Just... don't look at the crowd...

Weepingpaw shuffling over was the thing that broke Berrypaw out of her stupor, still feeling the eyes of her Clanmates burning into her pelt... she cleared her throat and took in a steadying breath, forcing herself to speak for her adoptive brother, not bothering to put on a weak smile... especially because he wouldn't be able to see it, anyway. She felt a pang of worry for him, gently placing her tail on his shoulder.
"H-Hey, it's alright..." She began slowly, trying not to wince when he said 'upgraded'. It certainly didn't feel like upgrading, not to her... "We'll get you looked at after the meeting, okay? J-Just... sit down and rest for now..." She tried to guide him to sit in a spot with slightly comfier grass, trying to hide the way her little body was still trembling. She swiveled her gaze back to the meeting, leaning into Stagheart as he walked over to comfort her, needing his stability for a moment before she saw stars in her vision. Everyone knowing she was on her own, probably distressed... it was vulnerable, and a little worse than just dealing with the revelation on her own. But she took in a deep breath, forcing her gaze up this time, looking up at her leader without daring to peek at the Clan (or else she might shrink back into herself once more).
This was what she had to do, now... she was to be RiverClan's sole healer. At least, for now. She just... had to keep going. She just had to flatten her fur, get her chin up, and for the love of StarClan, breathe.
I... I can do this.
At least... she tried to beileve it. Wanted to. And at this point... she had to.
