"Rookfire," the Commander would sit up in his nest and call across the Warriors' Den, not caring if he woke up anyone around them. The sun was setting and Hawkbite was up and ready to go. This was his hour to get moving and he was going to force Rookfire to come along with him. "You wanted to learn some stuff, so come with me now or lose the chance to catch some beauty sleep," Hawkbite was curt, giving his fur a couple licks before getting up and exiting the den.

He'd move to the camp entrance, sitting there and waiting quietly for the other Enforcer to show up. While he waited, he'd give his fur a few more licks, trying to tidy up the mess of the fur his nest created.

rookfire perked up as hawkbites voice called his name across the warriors den, lifting his head from where he had been fussing with his nest, cold and unused, yet trying to somehow fit the squirrel skin he had been keeping save into a better position. he hadnt been around here for a while, only ever coming to temporarily stash feathers and small, sun bleached bones within the moss, whilst returning to the medicine den each night without much thought. his mandatory rest period had long since passed, and there wasnt really a reason to be guarding anymore, nothing life threatening anyway, but he wasnt taking up space, and no one had kicked him out yet so it must be fine.
without much thought, the enforcer untangled long limbs from the odd position he had been sitting in, only worsened by him twisting around to face hawkbite, and made his way around sleeping and resting warriors, taking care to not step on paws or tails, and avoid touching empty nests with the warmth of recent use still clinging to it. "im always happy to learn some more" awkward sentence? awkward sentence.
rook followed along, not leaving the commander waiting at the camp entrance for long.

The Commander blinked slowly as Rookfire approached. Getting to his paws again, Hawkbite would pivot and start leading the other out into the territory. His pawsteps were quiet and the Commanders scent seemed to disappear as they entered the forest.

Hehadn't actually seen Rookfire fight before -- as far as he could recall. This would be interesting to say the least. Hawkbite liked to learn his clanmates fighting styles and there was no better way to do that than through a spar. "Do you have a particular style? Strength? Speed?" Hawkbite would inquire, wanting to break the awkward silence between them. "In a clan that utilizes size and strength a lot, it's hard to come across cats who fight with speed and stealth. That's why I specialized in it."

hawkbites practiced ease was truly marvellous, and rookfire wouldnt even have noticed had he not realised the lack of quiet crunching or the tap tap tap of paws next to him. perhaps this was what every shadowclan cat should strive to be. to melt into your surroundings entirely, not only hide your pelt but every sign of movement from noise to smell. they definitely shouldnt strive to be like rookfire who was still not entirely sure how he had found his way into the ranks of enforcer of all things, despite lacking a lot of training and even more experience, but alas. (obviously he knew there had been a reason and could see why they might see him as hardworking and willing to keep up with the expectations, but doubt was something hard to shed.)
"i havent had a lot of opportunities to figure out what suits me best, in actual battle context i mean,.. i guess its a combination of both, err i used to be pretty small so some more speed specific tactics mustve stuck. i'd be happy to learn more though." rookfire replied, with probably far too many words and feeling mildly embarrassed he had rambled like that in front of the commander none the less. the only thing he could really think about battle related was the thrill of locking jaws tight around flesh and yanking upwards, the strain starting close to his jaw and pulling down into his shoulders. to feel the tear of flesh as the release of tight muscles all the way through his own body. he doubted there was anything that could make him feel more powerful. yet, obviously that wasnt a tactic to be used with every opponent and in any setting, mostly fitted for a ambush aiming to quickly wrap up the fight. otherwise, he had mostly relied of dodging and quick strikes now that he thought about the battle a bit more. using his size wasnt a possibility anymore since he had grown to stand at approximately average height and most warriors matched him in strength and speed right now, so he had had to rely on tactic a bit more than last time. though, should last time even count as a proper battle experience at all? probably not.

"That's okay. There's always room for growth and learning. No warrior should know how or be an expert in everything, not even Dawnstar and Mistlewhisker are experts in everything," Hawkbite assured as he lifted his tail to signal Rookfire to halt. A few more silent pawsteps and Hawkbite would also pause and turn to face the other Enforcer. His tail would wave behind him as the thoughts rolled into his head. First and foremost, he'd simply have to fight Rookfire in order to figure out what he did and didn't know.

He couldn't recall the name of the last warrior who asked for his help in this, but it'd been recently. Yellowtwist, right? Maybe. Hawkbite wouldn't dwell on his lack of a memory right now, though. "So, here's how this is going to go. You're going to attack me like this is a real fight. You can use your claws if you want, but I will put you in your place if you think you can get away with killing blows," as much as Hawkbite didn't want to have to say that last part, it was necessary. "I need to see how you'd fight me to know how to instruct you, any questions?"

Hawkbite stood rigid, staring emotionless eyes at Rookfire. His brain was cranking, constantly thinking, but the only giveaway for that was his waving tail tip. It was hard to decipher what Hawkbite was going to do next, but he was going to simply wait and see if Rookfire had any quarrels with how this was going to go down.
