It was.... interesting watching the apprentices in their attempt, sitting away from the mess and thought Birchpaw got through fine the tom winced at Snowpaw struggling. Wolfhive gave his tips and Crowtooth sighed, quietly admitted "Honestly I was tryin' ta teach them ta think outside the camp. Come up wit' solutions ta issues wit'out bein' directly told but the mud idea" Or any others "dont seem ta be occurin'."
Crowtooth leaned back and straight, calling out a "If yer stumped Snowpaw try the mud idea this fine fellow is givin' ya! Or Ive seen bees avoidin' mint plants fer some reason so track that strong scent down an' hide there until they've flown off!" thinking of his own misadventures with bees. Mint, just mint-mint not cat-mint or water-mint was a rather gross smelling plant more commonly found near the twoleg place but perhaps it was that scent that drove off the bees in the end. Whatever it was the apprentices could use that as Crowtooth resumed his conversation with Wolfhive.
"Ta be frank these lot are the result o' some failed patrols an' didnt report they were ditched until I was already callin' 'em up. This issa lesson o' sorts."
But that was besides the point and just kinda an explanation so thunderclan didnt think windclan liked to torment their apprentices for sport.
Riverclan was the more interesting subject and the tunnelers head snapped right up. "Riverclan? Aint heard o' or seen nothin' on our end, we were just at the border an' its as barren as ever. Stars I even took a jaunt through their territory not long ago an' saw nothin'. Was startin' ta wonder if theyre ever gonna come back at all really or if they were so sore over the battle they decided ta make a go o' it elsewhere. Why?" If thunderclan had found the tattered remains of the clan or had indication they'd snuck back to do some sort of sneak attack without alerting windclan Crowtooth knew Twilightstar would even approve of an exchange for such valuable information.

Snowpaw found some mint, and rolled in it. "Thank the stars!" She gasped, when the bees left, but said, "Ow! Uh. These stings hurt. I might have to see Lightningstorm or Rabbitpaw later....." She hoped that she didn't see Sunfall anytime soon.

Re: Thunderglade
[ @ Morrigan @ Bonsai @ SuspiciousMindz - sorry for the late reply! permission given to morrigan to say that copper heads back to camp with night in your next post ]
COPPERPAW
The apprentice nodded, making the necessary adjustments. Oh wow, this was MUCH better. Balance restored, he took a few experimental steps. Nightgaze continued instructing, and he sat back up to listen attentively. He filed the information away in his mind carefully. Downwind, he should've listened to his initial instincts then!
She was sniffing the air, and he did his best to copy. But it was not until several moments after Nightgaze pointed in the correct direction that he caught the scent as well. "O-okay!" he nodded, trailing after her. A few paces in he angled slightly away, letting her track the rodent herself. He figured it wouldn't be very easy to catch anything with him breathing down her scruff. Besides, she'd given him more than enough information to make a first attempt.
After sitting in the grass by a tree trunk for a moment, tabby tom caught a whiff of something warm and salty. That was promising! He dropped into his crouch, remembering to spread his forelegs and level his tail. As quietly as possible, the apprentice shuffled forward until the animal came into his field of vision. A mouse! [ rolled a 17/20 for attempt 1 ] Copperpaw grinned. Wait. What was he supposed to do now? They hadn't gone over the motion required to actually catch this piece of prey. He was so close though! Narrowing bright blue eyes, the apprentice jumped clumsily, aiming both paws down at the rodent. To his delight, he landed squarely on its back, though not before it let out a shrill squeak. But a win was a win. Even if he'd scared off the rest of the prey around here at least he'd caught something.
Prize in his jaws, Copperpaw trotted back towards where he'd left Nightgaze, wanting to meet with her before heading back to rejoin the others.
---
By the time they arrived back at the nest, no one was in sight. "Hey, where'd they go?" he asked in confusion, turning back over his shoulder at Nightgaze. He didn't feel apprehension at being her without the others, as he was with his mentor, a Hornet no less. Maybe they'd taken too long.
