Another day another round of frankly disappointing patrol results. Crowtooth really needed to crack down on non completions, it was frankly unacceptable and let the clan down. He'd start here then, carefully minding the groups that did come in and picking out the slackers for some.... Recompense afterwards.
At least his and Vinepaws efforts would be enough to keep the clan fed until some cats did better. For now however, those that escaped trouble this time. Stars though three patrols out of six was just bad.
The tunneler raised an eyebrow at Duskfur reporting but nodded at the report, musing "Hopefully that means the killer is really dead like the rat queen promised." though a critical eye picked up on a few details he wanted to pry about. "Yer not the patrol lead I sent out. Im please ya got it done but did Lionpuff not show up? What about Mintpaw? Im tryin' ta compile a list o' issue cats. Once ya told me that ya can go however, yer in the clear."
Ah Silverrose and Lightningpaw with a pile of prey. Now this was a group Crowtooth didnt doubt for a second and a good reason why the tom consistently set his friend as a lead. Silverrose got stuff done, on her own time on occasion but she got it done. "Good ta hear Silvs. Great work as always ya lot are terrific. Go get some rest."
Lightingpaw had to be approaching warrior soon enough right? He might be a bit delayed with Bravebird being unable to teach him but the kid was rapidly approaching the maturity level Crowtooth expected of warriors and it was nice to see. Little lightning, growing up.
Then there was the disappointments.
"TALLGRASS, LOUDWHISKER, CARDINALPAW!" @Spider. @rubberRatroom @ollie "OPOSSUMBUG, SNOWPAW, VIXENPAW!" @PINTO BEAN @Kaida @forest "AMBERBONE, MALLOWFLASH, BIRCHPAW!" @QueenOtter @Desert Rain Frog @Aroogi "ALL O' YA GET YOUR ASSES OVER HERE BEFORE I SKIN YA! THIS IS YER LAST SHOT TO AVOID A MORE SERIOUS PUNISHMENT SO GET OVER HEAR AN' TAKE YER PUNISHMENTS LIKE WARRIORS! I AINT JOKIN' AROUND HERE ANYMORE!"
The tom was spitting mad, raspy broken voice cracking on his roar clearly painful not that he seemed to notice through the anger. The clan needed to be fed, the clans safety needed to be insured and this lot had failed at both of those tasks despite them being the most basic duties from the clan that existed. If these cats couldnt do that what was the point of having them here at all really, so they could just burden windclan? No, not allowed so they got one chance to take their licks with grace and maybe get redemption or they'd find life uncomfortable.
Duskfur gave a brief nod and mewed, Yeah, Mintpaw was there. But Lionpuff hasn't shown up.

The tom expected cats to be upset when he called them over, he'd even give a couple of them had reason to be miffed but to snap at the tunneler was uncalled for and made his ears pin. This was not Crowtooths fault here, he was just holding accountability. Still, enough cats were there and the few that werent probably were going to show that he felt the need to move on.
"Cardinalpaw! Manners, direct yer ire ta those that deserve it, not me. An' yall are gettin' a second chance ta avoid punishment so I'd advise calm 'fore ya lose that privilege."
Speaking of the punishment. "If any o' yall see Loudwhisker, Mallowflash, Tallgrass or Lionpuff tell 'em theyre demoted fer half a moon. An' they're EACH ta fix up/improve a den in the camp an' refresh the moss inside before they can regain their rank, even if the time has elapsed. Oh, an' they 'ave ta get their work checked by me ta be cleared.
This will be yer fate if ya fail yer make up patrol. Twilightstar is done wit' slackin' an' so am I. Patrols are critical ta clan life an' wit'out we risk invasion an' starvation so if yer lead is slackin' ya get goin' wit'out them an' leave 'em ta hang! An' if yer the lead.... Be better."
The toms tail flicked angerly, casting a furious eye over the (cowering, if they knew what was good for them) warriors. There was no good excuse for this behavior, if they couldnt complete the patrol for a good reason they shouldve told Crowtooth so he couldve sent someone else out. Hell Ravenhawk had done the same, twisted a paw and said so so Crowtooth had happily shifted things and the tom had been in no trouble (though the tunneler wished he'd spoken up earlier).
"Warriors yer all goin' out solo. Hunt anywhere ya like but if ya come back wit' less then 5 prey pieces each (o' any type) yer gonna be demoted.
Apprentices yer wit' me, we're markin' the borders the patrols missed while I teach ya good on what ta do if yer leads are less then steller," A pointed look at Cardinalpaw, Snowpaw and Birchpaw "or how fast a clan can fall if cats arent doin' their part." A harsh look at Vixenpaw, who had a good patrol and many chances with Crowtooth and had been disappointing regardless.
Welcome to flash patrols everyone! This is your shot at redemption before punishments and you have until the 24th at 11:59 PST to complete this and turn it in!
Apprentices: I will be posting today in the three border threads with crowtooth and you are to respond to each of them within the time limit. No post order so dont wait for anyone just post and collect the herbs Crowtooth will order them to collect and we're done, I will do the store additions after.
Warriors: You can do this together or apart but you are also required to do 3 hunting posts each collecting 5 prey and submitting the addition to the store.

Snowpaw hung her head. Uh. She should have done something!
| Lightningstorm | 22 Moons - WindClan Medicine Cat Flock Together [Tier 3] - Active | Mind Reader - Active | Dreamwalker - Inactive | Katty Krueger - Inactive
Lightningstorm did not consider herself an unfair cat. True, she was strict when it came to the matters of her dens and patients, but in her defense, lives were at stake. No one wanted a disorganized medicine cat that made a mess of things when cats could die over a mistake. Especially if the life had been salvageable in the first place. She hadn't lost any patients as far as she could remember - which was admittedly not that far - until recently, however, and the death still rang clearly in her head. It had been inevitable. The illness had been beyond her control, no matter what she tried. Even the cat in question seemed to acknowledge this, with her taking of herbs seemingly more to appease the medicine cat than from any faith they would serve a purpose other than perhaps making her passing easier. Less painful of an end.
It didn't make it any easier. The knowledge that there had been nothing she could do. Her one positive about the whole ordeal being how she had kept Rabbitpaw out of it. He was new, and this disease was an unknown, even to her. There would be nothing he would be able to do... and he was mourning. She would not have his apprenticeship begin proper with a dead patient. He could learn the horrors of their path later in life. He had enough to burden his heart with for now.
And yet there were some that had not been taking their tasks as hurriedly as they should. Honey and sticks. Two tools that she needed in her den at all times, and yet her resources found themselves lacking in the best of times. Neither was particularly plentiful in WindClan, the lack of trees making the two easier to find at specific borders and the grove over any other locale. Yet she kept trying to send cats in the hopes that she could have some for emergencies. The last patrol she had sent never bothered showing, though. Flowerpaw was gone now. Exiled for the troubles she had caused. Ashcloud and Wildpaw, however, were a whole other story, and after calling for them and attempting to find them for so long, she'd had enough. If they couldn't even show their faces after a failed attempt, then perhaps a demotion would suffice.
"Ashcloud! Wildpaw! The both of you, I want your arses here. Now! she mewed, the usual mirth and playfulness evident in her voice gone, replaced by a stern disappointment as lapis hues narrowed, unwilling to wait for them to show their faces before continuing. Someone would hear and let them know, she was sure of that much. "For failure of not only bringing back your patrol and reporting your findings or lack thereof and subsequent failure to report that you both were at least alright you will both be demoted for a half moon's time.
Ashcloud, from now until your punishment has been lifted you will be known as Ashpaw. It will be your job to keep the elder's den clean and help the queens in the nursery with anything they need. If you are recruited for a patrol you are to comply and show that you are still looking out for the clan. Failure to accomplish any of this will lead me to rethink your position within the clan.
Wildpaw, you will be known as Wildkit. There will be no training for you. You are clan bound. Any training activities you are caught doing during this time will be punishable and will have to be repeated when you regain your name. It is your job to keep the kits in the nursery entertained. I've heard some of the newer ones are teething and have rather vicious fangs, but they are nothing compared to the sting of bees you managed to avoid. I'm sure the queens will enjoy the breath of fresh air your assistance will provide."
A mirthless smirk tugging at her maw, Lightningstorm glared down from the exposed root of the galewood she was perched on, her tail twitching to let them know they were dismissed - assuming they had shown - before jumping down herself. There was no mention as to a potential exile for Wildkit because despite herself, the medicine cat had a harder time being as harsh on the apprentice. He'd learned what he'd been taught, after all, and seeing as how Ashpaw had been his mentor, it made sense neither had shown hide nor tail after the patrol. With a groan, she realized she'd had to report this to Twilightstar soon. Gratefully, there would be no need to replace Wildkit's mentor at this point in time. A poor silver lining, but she would take what she could get for now.
| For this punishment, your characters have until September 7th 11:59PM AST to complete it before further punishment is given. Three posts complying with the terms dictated will suffice! Please note that while the half moon must pass before they are eligible to get their names and ranks back, they are free to post here ahead of time if the punishment requirements are completed and I will get to them as soon as the day comes up, no worries. |

This was fun. No no this was fantastic! Ashcloud was the happiest cat in the world. He was practically covered in bee stings and now he was in trouble. Best day of his life."Sorry sorry we got caught up with the whole bee thing. I think I need to rethink my bee strategy but at least I made sure that Wildpaw didn't get stung." He sounded cranky and well he was! But that was because he was covered in bees strings.. Stars, he didn't want to get these things pulled out and nor did he really want to get brought to the med den. It felt like he just got herbs to have them used on himself! Still, in the end he was thankful that Wildpaw didn't get hurt. "It was a long walk back, nearly made it to the border before the swarm stopped..." He wanted to lay down so badly.
| Lightningstorm | 22 Moons - WindClan Medicine Cat Flock Together [Tier 3] - Active | Mind Reader - Active | Dreamwalker - Inactive | Katty Krueger - Inactive
She hadn't seen either Ashpaw or Wildkit after her call, and dropping from the roots provided to insight to neither, either. A snort of disappointment escaping her, Lightningstorm shook her head, turning around to face the Galewood once more. Twilightstar would have to hear about this demotion, and she wasn't looking forward to giving the leader more bad news. Yet before she could move she scented it. The familiar smell of honey sharp in the air as she turned around, brow raised as she searched for the feline who had brought some of the precious liquid without being asked to. Vinepaw himself had done so recently, and a part of her assumed it must have been the same apprentice once more, only to be met with a very different pair instead.
Ashpaw was back. Alongside Wildkit. With... honey and sticks in tow. Well. That had only taken a moon, yet it was clear they had gone out to gather some today. Had they been avoiding her in shame due to failure of acquisition? If so, that was silly. She would have understood. Plenty of cats had issues gathering honey. They tended to make the bees angry. Case in point... Ashpaw here looked like he had just bashed his entire face into the nest to grab pieces of comb and let the swarm have at him while he gathered it. She doubted that had been the case, but stars above. He was more stings than cat at this point.
The she-cat remained quiet as the demoted warrior spoke, turning to look at the kit. Noting the differences between them. While Ashpaw had most certainly taken on the entire nest, Wildkit had obviously avoided their ire. She had no idea what the tom had done to avoid the younger of the two getting stung, but she appreciated the effort. It took a special kind of selflessness to ensure another did not get stung, especially considering no one would have blamed him for it. Cats getting stung was really just an inevitability of gathering honey, or so she was beginning to understand. It's just most came back still looking like a cat..
"You know. If you were having trouble gathering honey, you could have come to me first, love. I would have gladly helped out," Lightningstorm mewed, no real anger in her voice as she spoke. "That's neither here nor there now, though, I suppose. You brought the honey and sticks back. That's what matters. Although... I hope you realize this isn't quite the last you see of me today, Ashcloud."
It was nonchalant, but with her clearly opting to use his warrior name instead of his apprentice moniker she lifted his demotion. It was clear to her that he hadn't been simply trying to skirt his work now, instead having been too ashamed to come back empty pawed. While she would have preferred to have been told this from the start, she could hardly blame him or punish him for it. Especially considering how the bees seemed to have taken care of that for him quite nicely. With a nod at Wildpaw, she dismissed the apprentice, doubting he would want to stick around for what came next, and not really willing to entertain him while she was busy regardless. It was clear from a glance that a few of those stings still had their stingers well stuck. She had her work cut out for her for the rest of the day, which meant Wildpaw was free to head on out to the apprentice's den while his mentor recovered.
"Come on now. We're going to have to tend to those stings of yours. Pretty sure Twilightstar wants warriors mentoring her apprentices, not cats that resemble a bee's arse," she finally added, eyes twinkling with mischief as she helped pick up some of the supplies they'd brought with them, the situation awfully familiar for some reason she couldn't quite place her paw on.
@Fish [Ashcloud] | @Oliver [Wildpaw]
| Both Ashcloud and Wildpaw have had their demotions removed - I'll be updating soon to reflect that in the alliances - but Ashcloud will have to be treated! It should be a quick treatment, though, and he should be back to his usual self in a few days tops. |

Fadingdawn approached Cardinalpaw with a calm but firm expression, her green eyes locking onto his. She knew the tom could be fiery, but there was a time and place for everything.
"Cardinalpaw," she began, her voice steady, "I understand you're upset, but you need to keep that temper in check. Crowtooth’s right — if you’re going to direct your frustration, make sure it’s aimed at the right place. Lashing out at him isn’t going to help anyone, least of all yourself. Keep in mind that he is your Deputy, too, and that you are to respect him." Her eyes narrowed. "If I catch you disrespecting a Fury or a High Rank - or if Crowtooth or another cat has to come to me for your disrespecting them - you will be on elders´ duty for a moon. And trust me, you´ll be doing it all on your own, so I advise you keep that temper cool."
She paused, giving him a moment to take in her words before continuing, "You’ve got a second chance here, and I know you can make the most of it. Focus on what needs to be done, and let’s show the Clan what we’re capable of, alright?"
[ @Rani + @ollie - i know that this is a few days after, but fading is here to deal with her apprentice. (besides, ollie hasnt responded yet.) Rani, keep in mind that if Crow has another problem with Cardinal, fetch Fadingdawn! o7 ]

(For the sake of flow as the patrols have already finished and cardinalpaw was posted doing them alongside crowtooth im considering this having occurred post the group arriving back in camp for timeline reasons)
Fadingdawn didnt seem happy about what she'd overheard from her apprentice before Crowtooth lead him out of camp, the tom really wasnt surprised by that, what he was surprised by was her still lingering as the group returned, herbs in tow, ready to lecture.
A smart cat would glean that now was not the time by the crease in the deputys brow and lingering tension over the intruder encountered while out. However some cats tended to forget Crowtooths occasional silliness existed alongside a temper.
It was funny, Fadingdawns words were all in support of him and yet her mere presence almost said she didnt trust the older tom to manage and educate the apprentice. Which was funny, given part of a deputy's duties were general oversight of all apprentices and though his apprentices didnt tend to finish training under him directly, Crowtooth definitely had more experience then Fadingdawn. What was even more FUNNY was the sheer irony spewing from Fadingdawns maw.
Wait did he saw funny? He meant not at all.
Lip curling as the tom set down the herbs he dismissed the apprentices, Cardinalpaw included with a clipped "Yer all done fer the day. Go eat an' shoo." As he stared down the molly with an unimpressed eye.
Only once the young cats were done did Crowtooth talk. "Are ya blind ta your own hypocrisy an' the irony in what yer tellin' Cardinalpaw or didya catch on our concerns wit' yer teachin' ability an' now are desperately tryin' ta kiss tail. 'Respect the high ranks?' 'respect the furies?' Funny comin' from you, who showed both ranks disrespect so recently an' publicly an' are prolly the reason yer apprentice thinks its ok ta do the same.
Fadin'dawn ya took an' order Lighningstorm gave ta an apprentice, an opportunity fer her ta lead an' took it over like a dictator! Not a single care fer your high ranks intent fer the patrol, which was fer Willowpaw ta get a taste o' responsibility which, again, ya ruined by takin' over. Not even carin' about who she wanted ta brin' an' if that was you in the slightest. An' then, like ya couldnt get any more disrespectful, when a fury like ya said ta respect tried to mediate ya disrespected him an' then Lightningstorm AGAIN in the middle o' the clearin'.
In front o' the entire clan."
At this point a low growl built in the toms throat, eyes narrowed as he watched for a response. Fadingdawn wasnt in trouble with him, yet, but she very well could be soon. To be so bossy about a patrol that wasnt hers was one thing, but to be disrespectful then come here preaching differently? It was another thing. This was more meant to be a come to starclan talk then anything, and the smart play would be to think on the words and not push, but Crowtooth wasnt pulling punches. Call it a test of Fadingdawns patience that'd snapped so critically not long ago.
"See ya say one thin' an do another Fadingdawn, thats what I dont get. How do ya expect Cardinalpaw ta learn if yer actions an' words contradict. Also, other cats then ya teachin' yer apprentice thin's will only do him good. Diversity breeds success, ya dont need ta hover when others got it handled."

| Lightningstorm | 22 Moons - WindClan Medicine Cat Flock Together [Tier 3] - Inactive | Mind Reader - Active | Dreamwalker - Inactive
Another day upon them, Lightningstorm exited her den, the sunlight feeling fresh and welcoming against her short fur. The greenleaf days would be over sooner rather than later, and she was eager to get in a few patrols today. Find some herbs that would slowly become scarcer and scarcer until leafbare had all but killed their supply until the next newleaf. It was such a peaceful, warm day, with the rays simply egging her on to go running down the prairie herself. Yet she had work to do. An apprentice to train. And herbs to collect. Albeit perhaps not in that order. The herbs came first for today. Especially if she wanted to catch felines before they went off and about their day.
The first order of business was one she didn't send for often. Ivy Vines. Not the most used, but with RiverClan back, she had a feeling they might be more relevant now than ever. Tansy would be useful as the weather changed. As throats became sore and coughs emerged.
"Whistlestoat! I want you to take Fleetsmoke and Mintpaw down to Thunderglade and collect some ivy and tansy for me. Ivy is easy enough to find. You will see the tendrils wrapping themselves around trees and anywhere they can find a good grasp. There's really nothing quite like it in the area. Just... snakes with leaves is the best way to describe them. Be gentle on them, though. I need the vine in one piece.
Tansy is a little more tricky to find. Looks like someone crossed a marigold and a goldenrod together. Yellow flower with many petals. Lighter and much more yellow than a marigold, and grows in clumps much like goldenrod. It has a particularly sweet smell. Overly sweet, really. Just... don't be fooled into taking a bit of a bite for a snack. It tastes so bitter your ancestors will be able to feel the taste up in StarClan," Lightningstorm giggled as she sent them off to the ThunderClan border.
"Twilightstar!" the herbalist called next, her gaze up on the Galewood's opening at its trunk where the leader resided in, waiting until she had joined before she continued.
"Hate to call you up for this, but I figured it's best to get someone dependable for this particular patrol," Lightningstorm mewed, her tone serious for once as she spoke. "I need someone to go down to Twolegplace to gather lavender and chamomile. I know you are familiar with chamomile already. White flowers with yellow centers. The centers resemble a half moss ball almost. It juts upwards but isn't round all the way through.
The lavender are easier to spot. Similar to broom in appearance, they are branches of purple for lack of a better description. Just twigs with purple petals sprouting from them. Extremely fragrant. I think this would be a good experience for Lightningpaw if you could take him. I think more apprentices should familiarize themselves with twolegplace for situations like these. Snowybreeze wouldn't be a bad idea either. I know he's not the type to go around looking for a bruisin', but the cats of twolegplace don't need to know that none, do they?" she smirked, whiskers twitching as she called the pale warrior forward, grinning at him as he tilted his head curiously, dipping his head in greeting at both the leader and the medicine cat before sitting politely silent besides them.
"Oh Crowtooth. Where you at, love?" the calico called, her voice in high spirits once she turned to look for the black and white tom. "Need you to head on out to the territory for me. The season to gather marigold is closing up, and I want to make sure we've got plenty... just in case... Well, you know."
The threat RiverClan posed now that it was back was unnecessary to address. It was true that no problems had arisen so far, but if the anger the RiverClan leader had felt when he had been tossed for his clan's consistent need to make arses of themselves had not been assuaged by now, there would definitely be a need to be prepared. Her storage wasn't lacking. She refused to let it falter. But with the window closing, she couldn't afford to grow complacent with tensions back among the clans, the unspoken truce no doubt gone now that the three where four once more.
"Doubt you aren't aware what marigold is. You certainly got the scars to be well familiar with the herb, don't ya? In the off chance you have combated infection through sheer stubbornness alone - an impossible feat most of the time, but with you, it sounds right possible, dunnit - it's a yellow orange bloom. Bright. Very colorful. Round. Shock full of petals. They grow on vibrant, green stems. Their smell is pretty sweet, although their flavor is almost as bitter as tansy, so I don't recommend eating them unless prescribed.
Coltsfoot is new. Been testing it for some seasons now, although haven't quite gotten any results with it. It doesn't seem to be poisonous, though, so I'm starting to think that maybe testing in situations where I don't have the herbs I would normally use might not be too bad of an idea. It's normally a flowering plant, but we are past its blooming season. Not much of a hassle, though, considering it's the leaves I'm after. Oh... wait here..."
This was a new herb. One she wasn't quite familiar with. As such, she was hesitant to simply describe it. Instead, she headed into her storage for a moment, coming back out with a single leaf to show the deputy. It was a wide leaf. The size and shape almost resembling a horse's foot, broad teeth adorning the edges.
"There, see? Bit of an odd one, innit? Take Lichenpaw with you if you can. And Buttercuppaw. I don't see her get out often. Might be nice to join a patrol and interact with another apprentice in a fairly stress free outing."
"Mushroomglow, Deadmoon, Honeypaw, come over here, you lot!" the wiry framed molly called, her throat by now starting to complain from all the talking she'd been doing. Hopefully she'd been done sooner rather than later and get back to her patients instead.
"I need you three to go to Twilight Falls. It's a nice day out, so if you fancy a swim, I won't fault you for it. Just make sure to bring some herbs back with you," she mewed, a cheeky grin on her face before continuing. "I'm wanting some hawkweed. It's like a wild, ragged cousin of the marigold. Yellow orange in color with deep, dark green leaves that look rather egg shaped. It's small. It's course. It's rough. Not very friendly looking as far as plants go. Be careful handling it, though. I'm not very familiar with the herb, and I would just as rather no one does any testing on it before I make sure it's safe to consume in full dosages.
For mint you are looking for tiny, serrated leaves. They are soft. Almost fluffy. Can be green, purple, or yellow in color, although batches are generally all singular in tone. Can have small flowers growing on them. Usually very small and white, although I've seen purple. It's the leaves I'll be wanting you beauts to be bringing back though, the flowers are just extra, alright?"
With most patrols taken care of, the molly turned to look for one last tom to send out. This one another important patrol. Certain herbs were back in season, and she wanted to restock as quickly as possible. Particularly the berries. Crowtooth did not need them to function, being perfectly capable without them, but they certainly made the deputy's life easier. She would just as rather keep them in storage. Especially considering that easing the lungs was just one of their many useful properties.
"Chuckles! Just the tom I wanted to see," Lightningstorm purred playfully as she approached the large, eternally angry tom, whiskers twitching with glee. The way she saw it, he started this by calling her Badgerbait first. Besides. With that winning smile of his, how could he be anything but Chuckles?
"With greenleaf ending soon, some earlier leaffall flowers are starting to bloom. Namely goldenrod and juniper berries. Haven't been able to stock up on either for so long now, too," she groaned, shoulders slumping over in defeat as if to drive her point further before perking up again. "Goldenrod is, as the name implies, a golden... rod? It's twigs covered in yellow petals, essentially. They are fairly tall and unique looking, so you shouldn't have any problem spotting it proper.
Juniper berries are... well, berries. It's right in the name, innit? They should have just started to grow, but I know there's always early ones ready for picking. I don't expect an overly large harvest of those, but any that you think look dark blue - almost black, really - and plump and ready to eat I'll be grateful for. Take Owlpaw and Burnetpaw with you. The long walk will be good for stamina building I would think."
