The large warrior crept into the apprentices den, waiting until she saw a shadowy patch that blended into the night, padding up to him and nudging him. “Fur-brain! Wake your ass up! You knew we were doing this.” she hissed into Spider’Paws ear, waiting for him to get up. “Don’t take too long. I’ll wait at the camp entrance.” she whispered, padding out into the clearing and my the entrance.

He jumped up when he heard the whisper in his ear and feel the tickle of her breath near him. Scaredy cat! Of course it was Bristle’Thorn, and of course he was curse with night training. He shook his fur out, trying to wake himself up a bit, before padding out to his mentor. Goodness it was so dark!

She waited, tail lashing behind her. How long did this fur- oh. She turned her head as she heard the sound of pawsteps, giggling a bit as she saw him struggle in the dark. “Mornin’ sleepyhead!” she mewed jokingly, cocking a brow at him. “Wow have I failed. How can you still not see well in the dark? You’re supposed to love night!” she rumbled, though being careful to not be too loud she disturbed the whole clan…as she did in her younger moons.

His eyes narrowed a bit and he huffed out. “Oh give Me a break, now let’s go before you wake up the whole camp!” he stated in a much quieter voice than his own mentor. Goodness was she a lot sometimes, but she was good. She always had good intentions, even if it didn’t come off that way at times.

With any typical apprentice, she would have snapped and hissed and chastised the youngin’ for giving her any sort of order, especially as sarcastic as his voice sounded, but this was SpiderPaw. And SpiderPaw wasn’t any youngin. He was considered her own kit.

She did also, shockingly, listen and started leading the way into the dark, overgrown territory. “You need to get your eyes to adjust quicker at night. For now we’ll just get ya used to it, ai’ght?” she confirmed, flicking her brown gaze to the apprentice who was trying to stay awake as he followed her.

“Alright” he nodded, padding behind her into the forest. He blinked hard a few times to try and adjust to the night. “So we’re going to the Grove right? What am I gonna learn exactly?” he questions, keeping a steady pace as he caught up beside her.

She padding in the forest with her apprentice, listening to his question. “Yup, we’re goin’ there. As for what you’re learning…” the she-cat thought for a moment. She already had a small plan. “Well, first, hopefully your eyes adjust quickly. You have to learn to use your senses in the dark. We’ll practice some night hunting and stealth while in the dark. You have to practice being aware of your surroundings and not making noise even though it’s difficult to see.” the she-cat explained to her apprentice, thankful they were close to the training spot.

He nodded as she spoke, swaying his tail as his eyes (slowly but surely) adjusted to the dark. Things were getting less blurry (thank StarClan and he was now recognizing the Forest more and more, realizing they were getting closer to the location.

Finally, they arrived. She stopped in her trackers and looked around, sweeping some leaves and twigs on the ground as obstacles. “Now, get into a crouch and creep over this. Don’t make a sound. I’ll make you do it over and over again if you do, okay?” she instructed.

He nodded at the warriors instruction, getting into a hunting crouch and creeping over, stepping on a branch and freezing. He sighed and glanced to his mentor, whom gave him the expectant look for him to return to the start. It took him a few tries but decently quickly he made it over the leaf path silently with ease.
