Nightgaze chased after her patrol as the trio followed in the direction of the badger tracks. Thrilled at the prospect of hunting down this massive predator. As they neared the suspected burrow, the stench grew stronger and she opted to breath through her mouth just to avoid throwing up. That certainly wouldn't be fun.

But when they reached theplace they were aiming for the badger was no where to be seen...huh? Nightgaze surveyed the area for any movement of the black and white creature. Nothing until it came charging out at them. Jumping backwards in surprising, it only too a second for her to get into action.

As soon as Brackenclaw jumped onto it's back, the small hornet aimed fierce strikes at it's face. Slicing her claws across it's huge features and leaping away when it's snapping jaws got to close for comfort. When it was no longer occupied with a cat on it's back, she swiftly made a move and latched onto it's side, digging her talons deep into it's thick pelt.

Lotuspaw stopped in her tracks, blue eyes widening. ''Is this it, Mountaintalon? Our burial grounds?''

Brackenclaw saw the swiftness of Wolfhive and he had to admit he was impressed. Brackenclaw thought he was good at fighting but Wolfhive made him look more like a seasoned Apprentice than a Warrior still the Large Maine Coon was gonna do what he could to keep up after all this was for Thunderclan. Brackenclaw charged forward behind the Badger shortly after Wolfhive and aimed to jump ontop of it biting and clawing at it's back as the badger attempted to throw him off growling angrily right before Brackenclaw lost his footing he would jump off of it landing some distance away but remained ready for anything. @BEAR. @Morrigan

The badger was distracted by both Brackenclaw and Nightgaze - and that gave Wolfhive the perfect opening to end this battle quickly and easily.

As it threw Brackenclaw off and twisted to lash at Nightgaze, Wolfhive lunged with the aptitude of a killer. His teeth connected with the badger's throat and he dug them in until he could feel something crunch and the badger falter.

It staggered a couple steps, struggling to breath beneath the fangs in its throat. Then it slumped, collapsing as its life faded.

Wolfhive removed himself from its throat, blood dripping from his muzzle. He suspected the foxes wouldn't be so simple, but the badger had been outnumbered by skilled fighters and could only target so-many at once. Had it not been for the obvious opening, this fight would've been a bit more precarious. Still, he wasn't about to look the gift horse in the mouth - this meant there weren't many injuries on this patrol and he could use these cats for the larger battle ahead. "Well done, both of you! Let's take this back to camp, maybe our Clan-mates will want to try it for dinner."

He moved to try to lift up the badger, though it was a bit heavy for one cat to do alone. "One of you wanna help me?"

Brackenclaw would nod the large Maine Coon was full of muscle making him well suited for helping to drag such a large prey item back to camp. Brackenclaw would grip his teeth into the pelt of the Badger and begin to pull in unison with Wolfhive. @BEAR. @Morrigan

Salmonshade nodded he agreed it would be much better to hunt together especially considering the predators around though after that he was eager to get back. Though catching prey was important to him safety was his top priority

“How about we catch a little bit more prey than report back?..Does that sound good to you?”he asked his eyes looking up towards the sky almost expecting another Hawk

Unamused stare boring into Pokey's own hues, Sprucejumper remained unmoving as the tom proceeded to divide the patrol, sending the paw and warrior to catch as much as they could before turning his attention back to him. The mockery was plain in the deputy's voice the longer he spoke, but the former kittypet couldn't really claim to be too bothered. Compared to the more cutting, threatening jabs and bullying he had survived in his short lived solitary stint as a loner through twolegplace, this seemed almost friendly. Amicable. Certainly not enough to get mad at. Especially if the tom in question was too stupid to understand the word he'd spoken. The Boulder would have understood. Hmph.

Alright. So maybe he was a little more peeved by the whole situation than he cared to admit. Sue him. He'd been looking forward to some time out as a warrior. Falling into the usual traps that had haunted him during most of his apprenticeship before he had even started was bound to make anyone ticked. Thank the heavens Snotzilla didn't come around, come to think of it. This would have probably been grounds to have her mentor changed, no questions asked. Actually scratch that. In hindsight, not having to deal with an apprentice didn't sound so bad.

Whatever Pokey had tried to do to get him free seemed to have worked, and after one more pull, his paw was free. Free! Oh, glorious freedom! He would never take it for granted again! Especially after this partner situation they had going on to head out of camp. Although after this particular display, others might argue that it was perhaps more necessary than they cared to admit. Gratefully, he wasn't others, and he would still very much complain about it. Quietly. In his mind. When he was alone. Thank you very much. And... speaking of thanks...

"Gratitude," Sprucejumper stated emotionlessly, blinking once at the deputy before testing his paw on the ground, ensuring it wasn't sprained over such a pathetic accident.

Look. The chocolate point might be irritated about this whole thing, but he wasn't beyond accepting the fact that the calico had helped. And what was he if not modest, humble, and magnanimous to a fault when it came to having been offered assistance despite the price of ridicule it had carried? Oh yeah, he was definitely going to carry that annoyance for a bit. Still, no need to waste this opportunity. Twitching his ear, he gave a small nod before beginning his sprint once more, heading straight for the tree. He might not be the world's most dexterous cat when it came to soil, but place him among branches and he'll have more than a couple of critters ready to eat by the time this day was done. There would be a chance to redeem himself yet!

She looked around at all the trees, and then back to the warrior as he spoke. Spot each other? Proabablyyyy the best idea! Her gaze landed in a shorter tree then the one they were at now, and it had more branches to cling on. “Yup! That works for me—how ‘bout we start over there?” she asked excitedly, flicking her tail over to a shorter tree.

This was sooo fun! Sure she’d probably fall the second she starts, but she could actually improve on a skill! That’d help her huh? Hopefully she didn’t get too hurt.
