Poking his head into the nursery, Hawkfur steeled himself against the familiar scents of milk and kittens as it overwhelmed him. After spending a moon straight in the nursery alongside his mate and kits, coming back to it now involved a lot of memories the Fury was still working through. It had been several days since Bravebird had passed, and since then Crowtooth had become deputy, Hawkfur had slowly slipped back into his duties, and life continued on. As much as Hawkfur wanted to slam the walls down over the memories of his beloved to keep them pristine and unmarred by depression, he had a new responsibility to uphold.

Three new responsibilities, actually. "Crowkit, Egretkit, Gracklekit!" Hawkfur whispered, azure gaze seeking out his kits. They were rapidly approaching two moons old now, and Hawkfur felt himself reeling at how big they were already getting. Once he was sure he'd gotten their attentions, Hawkfur gave them all a soft, fatherly smile. "Come outside, loves. I've got something to show you."

Slipping back out of the den, Hawkfur came face to face with the three gifts he had aqquired out on the moors. Well, one of them had come from RiverClan's territory, but since the river cats hadn't returned yet, he considered whatever was on their land fair game. Hawkfur swept his tail over the gifts, hiding them from view of his beloved sons and daughter as they tumbled out of the nursery.
