Deputy? Honeypaw knew that WindClan had been without one for a while but it felt odd anyways. Crowtooth...he'll probably do pretty well. He's been doing deputy stuff for ages. She looked over to the new deputy as he accepted. Hearing about Bravebird's death, she frowned. She didn't really know the she-cat but death was always a bad thing.
Lightningpaw would try to hold it together for his friend as she tried to comfort him. He wouldn't move away from her despite usually being a big clean freak. Lightningpaw only truly allowed the cats he was closest with touch him. It wasn't a voluntary reaction more involuntary as he had formed something of a complex with his fur being dirty from when he got his scar. Constantly keeping it clean made it more of a habit that now he just always groomed his fur clean. As Lightningpaw listened to the announcement of Crowtooth as Deputy he would whisper in Barleypaw's ear. "I figured he would be named as Deputy he is always the one assigning Patrols even before this." Lightningpaw would whisper to Barleypaw momentarily able to forget about his pain in the moment. @Madelaine
Moving her head towards Twilightstar's voice she listened as Crowtooth was named deputy. Oh she thought he was a great choice. She had heard nothing, but good things so he couldn't be that bad of a guy. He was one of their best warriors after all. "Yeah its good to see a great warrior get such an important rank. Maybe one day you'll be the one who knows.", Barleypaw whispered back. If great cats did get important ranks then she was sure maybe he'd get one one day.

Barleypaw is my main character and is currently a Windclan Apprentice if anybody wants to roleplay with her or has a small plot they need an extra cat for. If you do just mention me in a post no need to ask and I'll reply whenever I can. Also if its a plot vm me what it is, so I'm not confused.
It seemed Vinepaw was more optimistic about Twilightstar getting the deputy announced than she was, and was swiftly proved right. Deadmoon wasn’t particularly surprised by the choice. The fury had already been handling hunting and border patrols, and was clearly one of Twilightstar’s favorite clanmates. He visited her den probably more than he ought given his seeming struggles in making the jump (not that she would do much better) and has tight with her son and other trusted warriors. The perfect choice, really.
Perhaps that was why Twilightstar had waited so long. She didn’t want it to look like she had been eager for Fallownoses removal from the post, in order to appoint her favorite. Deadmoon didn’t particularly think their leader was so conniving, but appearances to the other clans mattered. And now they were beginning to look weak without a deputy, and an aging leader, so one had been appointed. On that, she didn’t actually know how old Twilightstar was. It must be at least 60 moons, probably more. Deadmoon was something like 45, and Twilightstar had already been leader when she was born.
Vinepaw’s voice got her attention with his voice, asking if she wanted to join him in congratulating Crowtooth. Not really, she discovered. The large tom would surely want to speak to other cats more so than her, and she honestly couldn’t be bothered at this moment. She was a bit apathetic, a bit angry, a general nuisance to be around. No need to burden their new deputy with having to with her well, she’d rather prefer to sulk. No thank you, you go ahead. The politeness was like pulling teeth. I imagine he’ll want to speak to his tunneling buddies more than me. Ok so maybe the spite was hard to control. To reign in. Deadmoon didn’t really know WHY she was spiteful, but she was do she was leaving camp. @Tallstar

Lightningpaw would think about what Barleypaw said before telling her. "I'm content with just being able to help Windclan. Let what fate come may come. Windclan is such a great Clan with loyal and usually kind cats I feel safe here and all I want is to be able to give my Clanmates that same feeling." Lightningpaw meowed his feelings. He really didn't have ambitions mostly cause he didn't want to let ambitions consume him. And the best way to do that would be to forgo them entirely. He just wanted to be a great asset to Windclan and that was that. @Madelaine
It was a bit strange, the mix of emotions at the moment. Grief and loss over Bravebird and a strange sense of pride over being given such a important responsibility. Lightningstorm was good at making the matter light however.
The tom scoffed at the familiar jabs, rolling his eyes before musing "Yanno maybe I need ta start stickin' you on huntin' patrols for all the comments yer makin'. Whine whine whine on how I send them out an' ya never take responsibility for sendin' out just as much an' yet rarely bein' on them hmmmmm? Gonna start givin' ya somethin' real ta complain about an' trim that chub yer gettin'." he rounded off his tease with a light jab to Lightningstorms belly, trying to aim at a tickling spot though there really wasnt any chub to speak of on the trim molly.
Honestly from the medicine cat the teasing was as good as a cheering congratulation, just twisted with their usual humor.
From there more cats filed in, all figures in Crowtooths life and it was uplifting in a way, a beam that cut through the darkness Bravebirds death cast. These cats care for and trusted him with this, and he'd do his utmost to live up to that.
First was Vinepaw and Crowtooth shot him a crooked grin, chucking as he assured. "Dont ya worry kid, just 'cuz Im deputy doesnt mean Im gonna be ditchin' my first love in the slightest. Ill be tunnelin' until I die and Ill be sure ta drag ya along for the ride." The older tom saw the making of a cat with the same life long passion as him, he'd be damned if he let that languish.
Next was Rabbitpaw and the deputy broke into a thunderous purr at his ex apprentice/adoptive son. He couldnt help himself, staying in place but leaning over to nudge at the young cats ear with his nose. "Heya kiddo! Yer lookin' well today, Im glad. Can hardly believe Im deputy myself really, this'll take some time ta sink in fer sure." He'd have Rabbitpaw by his side for it however, he had faith in that. They'd both be there for eachother as they learned to navigate their new roles in the clan.
Finally his current apprentice approach, which was ironic considering he'd spent more time training Vinepaw or Rabbitpaw then her. Then again she was newer, and closer to her full name then them and he was mostly just finishing someone elses job. Still, he held her in high regard and smiled too at her approach. "Thank ya Lichenpaw. Yer faith in me means I lot, I wont be lettin' any o' ya down. Ah, maybe fer yer assessment I can authorize some special mission fer ya, really mark the occasion!" That'd be something, after all the tom knew full well Lichenpaw was fully capable so the normal method was kinda reductive.
Last there was Hawkfur, and Crowtooth leaned into his friends side, taking and giving silent comfort with the action. The words he could say to try and help had all been said, shared memories of the molly that'd meant so much and promises to not leave so to repeat would be to just give platitudes at the moment. Crowtooth's presence said all he could say really anyways. 'Thank you for supporting me. I miss her too. We're gonna get through this somehow, eventually. Im here and will continue be.'
Hopefully some of it was reassuring, though lost as the two were it wasnt a guarantee.

Daffodilpaw turned to groom her fur a little so it wasn't so messy during the meeting. As she looked up she saw Quailpaw sitting closeby, and immediately felt a ripple of displeasure run through her pelt. She turned her attention back to Twilightstar, but then...wait...was that? Daffodilpaw turned her eyes back on Quailpaw in one sharp turn. Is Quailpaw...injured?? Daffodilpaw looked around her to make sure nocat was watching her before she got and carefully slinked over to Quailpaw, eyes alight with concern.
"Quailpaw! What in StarClan's name happened to you?" She asked in a hushed, concerned voice. "Have you had those looked at? If not you need to get treatment right away!"

"You should go get your injuries checked, you'll be a nuisance just standing around whimpering in pain." The sentence came out harsher than he would have liked, but Bouncepaw carries on anyway. Better this than to have Daffodilpaw tease him about getting worried over a she-cat. Which, by the way, he wasn't, this was just normal behavior for clanmates.
"I'll take you to the medicine cat den. Daffodilpaw, tell me about the announcements later." Bouncepaw meows. He was not going to take a refusal on this, Quailpaw was going to get healed whether she wanted to or not.

Daffodilpaw flinched at first at Quailpaw's hiss, but then gave a mighty huff at Quailpaw's protests, unimpressed. "The announcements are over now." She pointed out, waving her tail to where Twilightstar leapt down. "C'mon, Quailpaw! You're our denmates, let us help you!" She took a pawstep forward, looking at Quailpaw with pleading eyes. Part of her remembered how annoying this cat could be and wanted to just let her have things her way, get an infection if she wanted! What does Daffodilpaw care? But deep down, Daffodilpaw knew she couldn't turn a blind eye to a clanmate with such injuries possibly getting sick or infected. That wasn't who she was, and it certainly wasn't who StarClan wanted her to be. She glanced at her brother with gratitude, relieved that she had some back up here.
