Raggedear tried to squirm as quietly as he could to get comfortable, his muscles beginning to ache after went felt like moons of him cramped between the roots. Especially with a few of the weird rocks near him. He tried to kick one quietly away with his foot, but gave a repulsed hiss when it was kind of…squishy? Peering out from his hiding place to make sure he wouldn’t be spotted, the russet warrior slunk forward to examine it further. After a moment, his face turned into a grimace.

It wasn’t a rock. It was almost like some sort of weird amalgamation of bones that appeared to be a mouse. Wait…he had heard of this before. ’Pellets!’ He thought to himself excitedly, throwing his head up to scan the sky. Almost in that exact moment, a large shadow flew over his head and he heard an urgent whisper from Nightgaze.

Nodding a response, the tom took off after her, haring as quietly as he could through the undergrowth towards the owl’s nest. As they neared, more pellets seemed to litter the ground. ”We’re close!” He hissed at his companions, slowing his pace. ”Keep an eye out for small animal bones in a squishy looking rock!”

Wheezes and huffs came from the tom as he ducked, dove and hopped over tree roots, shrubs and anything else in his way. Nightgaze easily passing him in speed. It wasn't hard. He'll admit he's not the quickest, but he gets there in a decent amount of time. Clipping the edge of a tree root, his paw stung but he didn't have time to mull it over. Process it. Think about it.

Hopping up onto a rather out of the ground root, Spiderthroat scrambled to keep his balance. Tail wrapping around the rather thick root for a moment before wildly looking around. Panting. "Where did it go? I don't see it, did it land?" he asked in a hushed whisper. Doin his best to keep his voice down. Part of him asking in hopes of seeing Springlight, but also in hopes of the fact that none of them will get snatched up. "How far into the territory are we?" he asked, his question mostly pointed at Raggedear.

'Just keep running, just keep running!' Nightgaze urged herself on silently as she raced through the forest. Chasing the winged shadows as it flitted through the trees at an alarming pace. If only she could fly it would be so much easier! But they were close according to Raggedear. Look out for weird bone pelt ball things? Kay?

Panic set in a the owl disappeared for a moment or two, and the hornet slid to a stop with her other patrolmates. Frantically swinging her head about, she searched for any sign of the owl. A few feathers and those weird squishy things...wait...was that? Following the pellets as more of them appeared, a few meters away she saw a shape disappear and leave a large hole in an oak tree. "Guys, look! That must be it's nest!" She pointed a single claw towards the hollow. They'd found it. Now time to send hell upon it.

"C'mon, let's tell the others!" With a nod of her head, the small molly started bounding back towards camp, hopefully with her patrol following her. Thoroughly out of breath by the time she reached the clearing, Nightgaze took a moment to collect herself before scanning for either Wolfhive or Bumblestar. After spotting one of them she'd swiftly approach. "Hey, we found the owl's nest in an oak tree on the outskirts of firefly cove. Lots of...uh, pellets. Didn't see Springlight." The report came slowly, energy drained. It was too bad they didn't find the med but the owl would pay and that was what mattered.

Wolfhive had been pacing the clearing uneasily. They were down Redhawk for this fight and he hadn't been able to find a solid replacement on such short notice..

His gaze snapped to Nightgaze as she led her crew in. Firefly Cove's outskirts... he knew the oak tree in question, faintly. He wasn't sure why they'd be looking for Springlight - the owl took her, the blood.. ".. An owl would have turned her into one of those pellets. Unless we're ripping them apart to find pieces of her, there's nothing to see." It's grim, but the truth of reality. No point in getting one's hope up when there was.. nothing to gain from it. "Thanks for finding it, gonna make this a lot easier to deal with. We're not gonna have Redhawk though, so I'm going to need you to take her position on the bait patrol." On the bright side, scouting out the area would give Nightgaze an advantage over most their Clan-mates, and she hopefully wasn't too worn out from it.

"Risingstorm [ @Spider. ], Skunkridge [ @Idiotic.Bean101 ]! You'll be going with Nightgaze [ @Morrigan] to draw the owl's attention away from everyone else.

"Orangeblossom [ @Oliver ], Drizzlecloud [ @Omari ] - you're with me to ambush and kill this damn thing 'n make sure it doesn't harm Nightgaze's patrol.

"Dogchase [ @Bonsai ], Nightwhisper [ @ChromeSilver_Hwaa ], you're with Bumba [ @dino.] to take out its nest. Destroy and or kill anything that's in there, we want to make sure nothing makes it out." A lash of his tail, a flex of his claws. "Ask your patrol leader if you got questions, but let's get going while the nest is free."

Wolfhive headed out of camp and to the outskirts of the Cove, having his patrol hole up in brush near the oak tree in question. "Once Nightgaze's patrol is in position and luring it in, we're going to go for it. Orangeblossom, take the left - Drizzlecloud go for its back. I'll go for it's right; if we can take out it's wings or make it collapse it'll stand no chance."

--- How This'll Work ---

• These are the 3 patrols sent to bait, ambush, and destroy the owl and its nest. Bait and Ambush roleplayers will be interacting with the owl more directly, but Nest Killers may find themselves under attack if the owl escapes to defend its home and children.
  
  
• The owl is going to be controlled by Morrigan, dino., and myself via dice rolling and randomization; this will determine how it targets characters and the patrols around it. The severity of wounds will be up to roleplayers!
  
  
• To keep things going, these patrols should take no more than 7 days and we ask-- though do not require!!!-- members to try to post at least once a day if possible to avoid stalling.
  
  
• If someone does not make a post within 24 hours of their previous patrol member, their turn may be skipped to keep things moving. Your characters however will not be punished unless they have made no attempt to participate or help out.

Nightwhisper looked up from under his kits ambush, gently nudging Skykit off, he licked Emberkit and Cinderkit's ears. "Wait for me here little ones. Stay with mama." He purred gently, the muscular tom padded over, shooing Emberkit back to the nursury when he tried to whine.

Absently shaking her pelt, Nightgaze gave a small nod of agreement with Wolfhive's conclusion. "Yeah, s'pose so." Guess she was just unconsciously expecting a body or something. Though it did make sense; the owl wouldn't have just killed her for nothing. Bit sad really but it was reality.

Oh, and she was going to lead the distraction patrol in Redhawk's place now? Alrighty. The hornet was a bit tired but not so much that she couldn't divert the bird's attention and put up a fight if needed. That was the worst case scenario. "Kay, then." Mumuring acknowledgement of her new job, she padded over to her patrolmates. Briefly greeting them each with a subtle nod.

With a beckoning of her tail, she started swiftly pacing through the forest, going straight towards where she saw the owl enter it's nest. Not moving her gaze, the black mollie shared her tactic. They needed one of course. "Right, guys. We need to confuse the owl as well as distract it. Keep it occupied. Make it's shift it's attention from one of us to the other so it doesn't know who to go to. Get it's defence down and all that. Get me?" If they had questions they could ask away. She wasn't always the was clear cat when it came to words.

Well, it seems that she had been called to action–or so the voices say, at least. She chose to trust them, seeing as Wolfhive did at the very least look in her direction, she could only assume that the voices were speaking the truth.

Ambush and kill. She mulled over the words in her head as she trailed after her patrolmates, head hanging low, tail sweeping just above the ground behind her. Ever since the news of Springlight’s disappearance and presumed death had been reported, she had been a state of inner-turmoil, and… Rage. Again, she felt rage. Would murdering the predator that caused all of this in the first place do anything for that rage or grief? She was uncertain, but willing to take a stab at it nevertheless.

Settling herself beside Wolfhive, she gave the young tom a brief nod after hearing a soft voice whisper, aim for the back. She had her instructions, now to follow them..

His ears perked up as he heard his name echo across the clearing. It was time to avenge Springlight. The muscular tom padded over to his group. He felt his pelt prickling with anticipation. Although he knew he probably wouldn't be fighting the owl directly the weight of the task in front of him felt daunting. There was so much to loose if he failed. He wouldn't just be letting down the cats on the patrol, but all of the cats in Thunderclan. Their vengeance and ability to sleep soundly at night hinged on how well this team did. The air where 2/3rds of his tail should have been burned. How do I know if I'm ready for this? What if I loose my balance and fall? He looked out across the clearing, scanning the cats around him. He was nervous, but he also felt ready. This was something they needed to do. Any personal fears had to be pushed down. Claws dug into the dirt. He would try his best.

The brown tom turned towards the rest of his patrol. "Is there any plan or is it just break everything as fast as possible?" He meowed in his deep tone. He voice and expression was even more serious than usual, if that was even possible. It was difficult not to be affected by the gravity of the situation. Especially as he watched Nightwhisper leave his family to come join them. This cat has something to live for. If anything were to go wrong Dogchase would have to be sure to protect the other warrior.
